With the ‪@Egopowerplus‬ 56V 10" Pole Saw you have the power of gas without the hassle. The 10-inch Oregon bar and chain rips through limbs and even trees with ease. Just squeeze the trigger and the saw comes to life. You can extend your reach by about 6-feet, or even add another 31" intermediate shaft to extend even more. You can buy this EGO MPS1001 Pole Saw Kit with a 2.5Ah battery and charger for just $279 and it's covered by a 5-year warranty.

Chain got a little loose at the end, needed a smidge of tightening. Cool video, thanks for your hard work.

I think the chain does that as it heats up. That's why they tell you do adjust it when it's cold. But I'm with you, it did look too loose.

I love my Kobalt Pole Saw - 80-volt - 5-ah battery - 10" Bar - 6 ft / 8ft foot Pole Saw. No cable. Using an Oregon Bar and Chain. I have been using it for more than 3 years now. It works great on my southeast Louisiana farm clearing property that a hurricane went through and trashed all the trees in the woods of our 20-acre farm. I carry it all over our woods and the battery lasts a long time. Today I'll be cutting a 6-inch limb off of a tree out front. I am also using (2) Kobalt 80 volt 18" Bar Chainsaw and using the 5 AH Batteries. Cuts huge logs great. The first one wound up in a puddle and stopped working but after a couple of weeks and it had dried out, it started working again.

After buying an Ego lawn mower I feel cheated that I didn't switch to an electric mower much sooner. The Ego mower proved to me battery can cut just as well as gas. Quieter, lighter, easier to maneuver, folds right up on my deck, generous and easy one lever deck adjustment.. and in the Texas summer where cutting 3-4 times a month is mandatory the savings from not buying gas, changing oil, sparkplugs, fuel filter, etc is really going to add up. Then I was super relieved to learn pretty much every other Ego tool is just as reliable. The blower and weed whacker are putting my old Ryobi tools to shame.

@@InvestigamerI agree 100%. You sound just like me 😂 3 days ago I bought the 2156SP mower, the high end trimmer with Line IQ, the 765 blower, and the edger. One of the 5ah batteries was DOA. Lowe’s exchanged it for me AND EGO is sending me a replacement 🤫. Other than that one battery, everything has been fantastic! I live on a really small lot (about 1/5 of an acre) and just cutting the back grass ate up the entire 10ah battery. BUT…the grass was mostly crabgrass, 10”-12” long or worse AND wet. The mower went through it waaaay faster than my 160cc Toro gas mower ever did at that length. Only bogged down and stopped 2 or 3 times. This was my first cut of the year. I have no doubt that the 10ah will do both the front and back in subsequent cuts. The trimmer works better than my Echo interchangeable system. And spooling line is a thing of the past! That feature alone was worth the $$$. The blower was MUCH better than I expected. Moved wet grass and dirt from the edger with zero issues, even without turbo. Speaking of the edger…without question it is the star of the show. As much as I was impressed by the other tools, the edger was even better. I live in Oklahoma and our clay soil SUCKS to edge. It took me freaking forever to edge with the Echo and killed my back. First edge this year and I used the Ego. Went through that stuff quick, fast, and in a hurry! Tried to runaway from me! 😂 I got the mower on sale, $749 with a 10ah battery and a free 5ah. The blower was $299 with a 5ah and a free 2.5ah. Trimmer came with a 4ah and free 2.5ah. Edger was the just the head and attachment, no battery. I went from the register right to customer service and returned both 2.5ah batteries for $112 each and sold the 4ah battery for $150 to my buddy who was looking for one. I’m tax exempt. All tolled, I’m in it for $1153. Can’t beat that. Sorry for the soliloquy, just reporting my experiences for other people that may be on the fence!

notice chain got real loose
@Isaacmantx
@Isaacmantx Год назад
Of course it did… he started at the tension you want when hot instead of starting fairly tight and allowing it to expand to just about right. He was able to pull WAY too much on that chain for a cold, new, chain. They get hot, they expand, you should prepare for that.

Once I've retightened mine, it works better and get stuck on cuts less often. I also noticed it being real loose at the end of all those cuts. I took mine apart (just one cover) and cleaned well then retightened the blade. It does get loose over time and oil leaks very slowly when in storage. I just wrapped a towel around the shaft below the oil container. I've used mine for 2 seasons and about to break it out for a third.

A plastic cover at the base of the chain seems out of place when the rest of the head is almost all cast metal (aside from the oil tank). Isn't there also a separate extension available to extend the reach of the tool?

The plastic cover is a bit out of place, but it seems to work well. If it were on an actual chainsaw, we may have more of a problem with it. Yes, there is an extension available for this, and we mentioned this in the video. Thanks for watching.

Really nice video on tree pole saw but one thing missed was charge time on battery, I'm thinking may be same as my ryobi 40v 4 ah battery at 2-3 hours full charge from one cell light to basically dead.

My 56v 5ah ego battery takes 100 minutes to charge if it’s completely dead. That’s with the standard charger. It’s much faster than that with the quick chargers they have.

Are you able to adjust the angle of the bar, or does it always stay in-line with the shaft? Pivoting the bar downward by ~20° makes it more efficient to use.
@dabomboo7o
@dabomboo7o Год назад
This is what I want to know also! It should be angled
@MrShadowpanther3
@MrShadowpanther3 11 месяцев назад
It stays inline with the shaft. There is a pretty hefty angle gear that turns the spinning drive shaft in the pole 90 degrees to run the saw sprocket. It is built pretty hefty and probably soaks up a lot of torque. Seems they went more for robust than flexibility.
@dudemcgee256
@dudemcgee256 4 месяца назад
Efficiency could be measured by how long it takes to cut. Tests have shown that ego is one of the fastest cutting battery operated pole saws you can buy. So any perceived efficiency you thought you gained was sold to you by the marketing department. Also the straight saw is safer since the branches are more likely to hinge away from you when they fall because of the angle.

My Ego 2.5ah bat Mos went out. Granted the battery was 5 years old but it was not used very much. Their is nothing to cut or trim 6 months of the year here and it was used by my wife to trim around her gardens. I have Ridgid bats that are over 15 years old, heavily used and abused and still working. For the price of a small Ego battery I can by a tool and battery combo from Ryobi and others so Ego is done.

@@ridemfast7625 Had to return 2 ryobi push mowers. They were garage kept but couldn't handle the humidity. Something inside shorted out and wouldn't do anything after about 2 weeks. It was only used once each time. Every brand has its issues. From my experience the ego tools are much more robust than the other brands. We'll see how the batteries last I guess. Still better than buying gas though.
@ridemfast7625
@ridemfast7625 4 месяца назад
@@dudemcgee256 Tools are robust. Batteries, not so much. Many people on forums complain about the bats and wait for tool with battery sales because for a few dollars more than a battery alone you get a tool. Ego has changed their bats a few times so dont know about the latest generation bats.
@frommatorav1
@frommatorav1 2 месяца назад
You can use larger batteries but I wouldn't recommend it because it makes this tool too heavy. The 2.5ah battery feels best because you're lifting it over your head but I've used my 5ah battery without any issues. That's the largest battery I have, though.
@dudemcgee256
@dudemcgee256 2 месяца назад
@@ridemfast7625 I've had mine for over a year now. If the factory batteries are that bad, I'll just buy the cheap knock offs. They're less than $100. Not too bad considering I don't have to buy fuel. I'd rather have a real tool that needs battery maintenance than a toy that has really long battery lifespan.

Ego are very good outdoor tools in terms of performance. But Ego tools are expensive and the battery life is hit and miss and replacement bats are over priced. I have 15+ year old Ridgid bats that have been heavily used and abused and still working. Had a lightly used 5 year old Ego bat stop working. The bat was used in a trimmer only ~6 months a year and only 1-2 times a month. The Ego bats are expensive and its not worth replacing the battery alone when I can buy an entire tool/bat/charger kit from another brand for less.

I have had two batteries fail the first was replaced under warrantee, the second was out of warrantee, but . . . customer service told me that for best results the battery needs to be removed from tool after use and kept in a climate controlled enviroment (not in hot or freezing garage) I told customer service that the user manual said nothing about such things and they agreed to replace the second one. Remember these batteries are like people -- they are most comfortable between 65 and 80F
