It kinda seems like these might have been part of the sellers childhood collection. Where they built then disassembled them. The parts then got mixed with others, they rebuilt it from a bin of mixed parts without paying attention to detail and left it on display. They took it a part and when they did they though they it was 100% complete and listed them.

I must have amazing luck, 10 years of bricklinking and eBaying and nearly all my sets would come complete when described as so.
@Maniac4Bricks

Normally, when I see BrickLink and eBay sellers list sets that aren't quite complete, they take the time to note about missing or replaced pieces and figures, or if I ask them, they would respond so about it. So personally for this seller to not make notes about it would be a problem, if not for having spares on your own to spruce it up. I would think in cases where some parts are more difficult to find, like the yellow drawer, that would be good to know in advance since it's not as available for replacement. I put together one of these used, the red one, and while I noticed some pieces having different years or fades of color, it ultimately doesn't matter to me as long as it looks close to the original. Good idea to clean them up too.

complete should be complete, not almost complete with 10 parts missing and half the stickers gone.

I wouldn't buy a set without seeing photos first. I find that sellers on Bricklink often don't bother providing photos and will only do so on request. I try to make sure that the rare expensive parts are included. I believe the sign posts and lamp posts are the most difficult parts to get separately in these sets.

Wonderful sets.....

At least the biggest and rarest parts are mostly there. The missing stickers are the most expensive thing to replace I suppose.

if you're looking at the money i'd say it's good to buy used sets. that's what i'm doing to get a "complete" city. buying these "old" sets new is just so damn expensive even though i'd love to have them completely new, being the first to open the box and build these beauties

The yellow ones grey parts look really nasty. Nice station models though.

I have the original box for 4554, and thinking to build the set from 0 to make it complete (yeah i know, i must be crazy right). Sad to see you got such an incomplete set, luckily stickered parts are mostly not hard to come by on BL, if the sellers dont ask ridiculous prices that is ofcourse. I watch so many of your older vids these days, every set i'm lookin up you got a vid on almost, nice! :) I also wanted to to thank you for setting a standard for us when we started our BL store, just trough your videos. I describe everything, check twice before uploading if its complete, etc etc. Takes some time but i hate to get stuff like you just had in this video, for me it;s cracked arms and torsos that keep raining down on my incoming orders lately. It annoys me that so many sellers just send people crap. They mostly refund you but it's a hassle, and you still dont have the part you want, gotta spend shippinng costs etc again too... We're opened 2 weeks now and have got some sales already, which makes me think the effort in detailing, some custom pictures etc, really gets appreciated. If you want to check it out and throw your constructive advice our way you can always message me for our store name, i dont want to advertise freely in your comment section :) Have a nice day :)

It wouldn't be so bad if you got a good price on it to make up for the time looking for and ordering new parts but if you want a "complete set" that you pay "complete set" price for it would be frustrating. For someone like you, I bet it isn't too annoying to find pieces for it since you have many and it is a hobby.

The question I would have is, what feedback would you post on the order? Positive with a "missing parts" comment? or Neutral "missing parts but I fixed it myself", or the Dreaded Negative? I hate when I get the wrong color of brown from sellers who aren't educated.
@JamesBoxxy
@JamesBoxxy 6 лет назад
Matthew Lech Same, I've had the wrong Brown before, not the end of the world, but certainly annoying!

It is a nice looking set overall but simply hearing those conditions makes me shiver, ooh! A good lesson learnt too; always be careful when buying stuff online. Though the problem is being careful doesn't help the fact that the internet is not a kind place lol

That does look pretty manky, and the ladder to the second floor looks very dangerous. It's amazing how the safety of minifigures was never considered back then. They may have come from a yard/boot sale. (Boot = Trunk of a car)
@Mardigrasman23
@Mardigrasman23 6 лет назад
LOL minifigure safety. Back then they didn't worry about child safety. Remember Lawn Darts.
@Maniac4Bricks

It's nothing like nowadays where minifigures have to float from one floor of a building to another. So at least the train station manager has a good arm workout from climbing the ladder.

I am glad I have completed my Classic Space collection now because of things like this. Mainly off eBay tho. You buy a set and then things are missing etc etc then you have to go to BrickLink and try and get the missing parts which is annoying :-/ But like you said in a odd way it can be Fun looking for the parts and then completing the set after(not Fun for your Wallet tho) :D Excellent Video as always ;)

Wow cellulose acetate is so shiny 😱. As for whether this was a good buy, it depends on how much you paid vs the incompleteness. Incorrect vintage is often a problem. 🤔

Hi BrickTsar, I believe you are also missing the chairs on front of the left windows of 2150!

Yeah I would of been disappointed! I think they should of put it down as a half set not complete! It's definitely a fixer upper and you should not have to spend time fixing it! Especially if you paid alot of money for it! They would of definitely gotten a bad comment for me and it would of been buyers beware!

That is bad for older sets and surely if anyone sells a set complete then it must be complete. I have had non-complete modern sets and have not worried as I can add a couple of bits when they are generic, but with these 2 sets, you cannot add the missing bits as they will not match. As for selling, that is really bad/sad. I double check all parts , build it a couple of times and will list as complete when built with no extra parts since these old ones I don't know what they are.
@brotherfromanotherbrick
@brotherfromanotherbrick 6 лет назад
This is disappointing that the seller cant even check to make sure the sets have their parts. If it was just one of them that would be different, but its both. Hopefully, your able to get the missing parts/stickers. I hope you leave them negative feedback on Bricklink.

Maybe the sellers just resold something they thought was complete that they resold and had never built. Hopefully you got them cheap enough that it doesn't matter too much. But I definitely would let them know about it and how dissappointing you are. I wouldn't worry about the correct year parts.
@BrickTsar
@BrickTsar 6 лет назад
I’m pretty sure that’s what happened. The small rescue set came with a handwritten note about having 2 missing stickers and that it was noted but the listing on BrickLink did not say that.

How do you feel about extra parts in a used set? Would you expect them to be included for it to be described as complete?
@pavleone472
@pavleone472 Год назад
in our store we have it in our terms, that extra parts are not included, unless stated otherwise. personally when i order a set, i expect it to be complete as in 100% buildeable, but not with extra parts. At least for vintage sets. Maybe 2020 and later sets i'd like that.. How do you feel about the extra parts yourself? i wonder about how people feel about this subject too now lol

Hey BrickTsar. For example, if I 3 items in my cart. Do I have to pay shipping for all of the items or just one? Please respond.

MrBricks47 Depends on how many different sellers you intend to buy from, say its 3, then its 3 lots of postage...
@BrickTsar
@BrickTsar 6 лет назад
If the items are from different sellers you do. If it is from same seller it will be one charge - generally based on the weight

Love the video's and all the great information! I just placed an order with you also (my 3rd bricklink order... yes I am new! :O) I'm trying to get a question answered. Due to the storage space I have for stored my LEGO, I tend to connect Lego blocks in my storage trays to save space. As I have been watching many RU-vidrs and bricklink stuff (which I'm new to) I notice everyone stores Lego loose. is there an issue with leaving Lego connected for long term? Am I affecting the gripping power for future building? Sorry if this is off subject but, I just could not for the life of me find any info online for this.
@BrickTsar
@BrickTsar 6 лет назад
Thanks for the order! We will work on it. As far as the pieces - I've bought from sellers that have had some pieces connected so that it makes them easier to count. If you do it keep in mind this - plates require a nuclear explosion to separate - so don't firmly connect them. And there are a few nick picky buyers that don't want anything assembled - even minifigures. If you are selling used parts it is less of an issue. I don't think anyone has specifically done a post about pieces - but in random videos I know it has come up about the minifigures being assembled (first time I heard of it was from Bricks On The Dollar a few years ago talking about people complaining about assembled figs). That's why you will see some sellers list the minifigures as "assembled" so the person knows.

Complete should be complete unless otherwise stated. Send back or seek refund. Review on bricklink honestly.
