Thank you. It isn’t easy building a homestead but it will be worth all the effort when everything is in place.

Great job Richard, the plan for the sawmill looks like you have it figured out really good and should last a long long time. Enjoyed the video and looking forward to seeing the sawmill arrive and get put together and fired up for you. You all stay safe and keep up the great videos and fun when Jennifer is back to working with you. Fred.

That's the plan! I could dig five more holes and put up concrete foundation under each foot, but I don’t see the need for that. I’m just supporting each joint and the odd foot between those can sit on the 6 x 6 and should be just fine.

@@OutpostReview As solid as the ground is right there and as compacted it is there shouldn't be any problems. You always take it easy loading the logs on the mill and that's another plus for you. Stay safe and have fun. Fred.

From experience with cell tower power plants it's best to have the batteries in a seperate compartment with a fireproof wall between them and the electronics. You're doing a good job.

It hurt my brain just listening to you explain it, forget understanding how and why!! LOL All I know is that when you do something, you do it right and it'll be the best it can be! Summer's ramping up and it's going to be a Hot one. Stay safe and God Bless. #SMO #SmokyMountainOutpost #Smoky #Dolly #WhatWeDoin'? OH!! You can get a mini split that runs off a solar and it has heat and air in it. It's all-in-one and you wouldn't need a big one, just a 110 hemp on to go in that building for that to keep those batteries taken care of especially if you insulate it. Well
@OutpostReview
@OutpostReview Месяц назад
Yeah, I believe we’re gonna have to add something to the building to keep that equipment in good operating order

Richard have you though about putting the powerhouse inside your shop on the second floor? I know the longer runs you have on the DC power coming from the solar panels, require a larger cable to prevent power loss. Also you need to think about the placement and the ability to readjust the angle for maximum power generation depending on the season. The summer is flatter than the steep winter angle. Ambition strikes make their solar shed out of a shipping container on the side of mountain with the solar panels mounter on a frame on the shed. Red Poppy Ranch in Idaho has his power room in his house and the generator behind his shop a way from the house, so the barn help absorbs the sound. Also on the solar placement location, you also want them in a place where you can get to them to clean them and also being where you live, baseball hail does a number on solar panels, one you tube channel that is no more, they lost their roof and solar panels to a hail storm and the panned was less than 3 years old, which required all panels to be Replaced. In one of their last vides they said wished they had invested in Solar shutter that could cover the panels from damage in several weather. while the panels are designed to survive a golf ball hail traveling at 50 mph, baseball hail obliterates them.
@OutpostReview
@OutpostReview Месяц назад
Yeah, I have thought about that but I don’t want to have to heat and air that building when I’m not down there so we kind of figured that a small shed about 6‘ x 6‘ would work to house all the equipment and send the power from there in different directions Where we may use it. I did think about it in the beginning, but if it had any noise to it at all, I don’t think I would want to listen to it constantly. And if something wants to happen to the batteries or something like that in the event that might explode or something. Hopefully it would only affect the building that they’re in. Things like that happening.
@raymondheckard234

@@OutpostReview what brand of inverters and batteries did you go with? I know the one Lumnah acres has is very solid and dependable, and they actually have 2 solar systems from Lion energy. If you are not using the lead acid batteries and are using the Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, they are very solid and don’t explode, nor do the build a memory and can withstand deep cycling
@OutpostReview
@OutpostReview Месяц назад
@@raymondheckard234 we tried to work a deal with Lion Energy last year sometime. We ended up going with an EG4 setup through Signature Solar. The particular inverter we got is the 6000XP
@raymondheckard234
@raymondheckard234 Месяц назад
@@OutpostReview Jesse Muller went with the EG4 system, and he installed it in his house in his walkout basement, which the install in documented on his channel, mind you it is about a 2 hr production he made. His house is a ICF house with a concrete roof. His EG4 is a backup system with grid power and solar, it seem to be a good system, it to is very safe, as Jesse said if it was not, it would have no been installed in his home. His house is built like a concrete tornado proof bunker in New York.

No, the only thing that I wanna do is tear that thing down because for me, it’s kind of an eyesore. I can think of a much better use for that spot now that we have a new workshop.
