"This is a professional organization! Who do you think we are?!" The type of 'professionals' who beat the shit out of a helpless man and then brag about it because his skin was darker than theirs.
@vcab9383

Rodney King was not! A helpless man. He endangered the lives of many people. He was a multiple felon, and didn't comply with the officer's orders to lay down to be handcuffed. He acted like an animal and was treated as such.

V Cab that's besides the point as a professional organisation you shouldnt behave like the very criminals your trying to catch otherwise you're just another criminal yourself.

V Cab Rodney King was not acting like an animal, he was acting drunk because he was. In no way should a police officer treat a human being like they are an animal.

FOR THE RECORD: July 27, 1987: According to a complaint filed by his wife, King beat her while she was sleeping, then dragged her outside the house and beat her again. King was charged with battery and pleaded "no contest." He was placed on probation and ordered to obtain counseling. He never got the counseling. November 3, 1989: King, brandishing a tire iron, ordered a convenience store clerk to empty the cash register. The clerk grabbed the tire iron, causing King to fall backwards and knock over a pie rack. King swung the rack at the clerk and fled the store with $200. King was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, second-degree robbery, and intent to commit great bodily injury. In a plea agreement, King pleaded guilty to the robbery charge and the other charges were dropped. He was sentenced to two years in prison, but was paroled on December 27, 1990. March 3, 1991: After being seen speeding on the 210 freeway by CHP officers, King led them on a chase at speeds estimated at up to 110 to 115 mph. When finally stopped, King refused requests to get into the prone position and appeared to charge one of the officers. He was beaten and arrested. King was charged with felony evading. Charges were later dropped. May 11, 1991: King was pulled over for having an excessively tinted windshield. Although King was driving without a license and his car registration had expired, King was not charged. May 28, 1991: King picked up a transvestite prostitute in Hollywood who happened to be under surveillance by LAPD officers. King and the prostitute were observed in an alley engaging in sexual activity. When the prostitute spotted the officers, King sped away, nearly hitting one of them. King later explained that he thought the vice officers were robbers trying to kill him. No charges were filed. June 26, 1992: King's second wife reported to police that King had hit her and she feared for her life. King was handcuffed and taken to a police station, but his wife then decided against pressing charges. July 16, 1992: King was arrested at 1:40 A.M. for driving while intoxicated. No charges were filed. August 21, 1993: King crashed into a wall near a downtown Los Angeles nightclub. He had a blood alcohol level of 0.19. King was charged with violating his parole and sent for sixty day to an alcohol treatment center. He was also convicted on the DUI charge and ordered to perform twenty days of community service. May 21, 1995: King was arrested for DUI while on a trip to Pennsylvania. King failed field sobriety tests, but refused to submit to a blood test. He was tried and acquitted. July 14, 1995: King got into an argument with his wife while he was driving, pulled off the freeway and ordered her out of the car. When she started to get out, King sped off, leaving her on the highway with a bruised arm. King was charged with assault with a deadly weapon (his car), reckless driving, spousal abuse, and hit-and-run. King was tried on all four charges, but found guilty only of hit-and-run driving. March 3, 1999: King allegedly injured the sixteen-year-old girl that he had fathered out of wedlock when he was seventeen, as well as the girl's mother. King was arrested for injuring the woman, the girl, and for vandalizing property. King claimed that the incident was simply "a family misunderstanding." September 29, 2001: King was arrested for indecent exposure and use of the hallucinogenic drug PCP. In 2001 King was ordered to attend a year-long drug treatment program after being arrested for indecent exposure and being under the influence in Claremont, California. In 2003 King was arrested by Rialto police on a charge of suspicion of hitting his girlfriend in the face. Charges were not filed. In 2003, King was seen by police weaving through traffic in an SUV at more than 100 MPH before he ran into a fence and into a San Bernardino home. King pleaded not guilty to being under the influence of PCP. King was sentenced to a six-month drug rehab program, and served a 120-day jail sentence. King was arrested in 2005 for allegedly threatening to kill his daughter and ex-girlfriend. No charges were filed. In 2007, King told police officials he was hit with pellets from a shotgun. July 2011 - Rodney King just got a slap on the wrist for his DUI arrest last summer -- striking a plea deal in which he won't have to serve a single second behind bars ... despite the fact he has a prior DUI conviction on his record. Rodney pled guilty today to reckless driving for the July 12, 2011 incident in Riverside County, CA ... and in exchange, prosecutors agreed to drop the DUI charge.

As a foreigner - with some, but limited knowledge of the Rodney King case - this video seems to lack context or a clear goal. I must guess it's a subtle way to point out that we are yet not rid of racism within the police departments across the country?

It’s no wonder that the situation became so out of control. The LA riots were a result of an absolute failure and FAILURES of a system. Any opportunity to do the right thing, or even speak the right thing, by a figure head or person of interest was blatantly mishandled and ended in catastrophe. Gates answer to a very good and well articulated question regarding the specific case as well as the overall demeanor of the police department was absolutely APPALLING! It was one of the worst possible responses he could’ve given barring any reduction to absurdity. But to be fair that answer sorta teeter tottered on the brink of absurdity. So watching all this among other things, it’s not hard to piece together why the end result was total destruction

I must interrupt the subject matter here let me tell the council and you weigh you full process of the matters improvement therefore are there of obtaining a very few which is what well first be on the record and to recognize well that you Gates was not while the person giving out the most blows the art of well the warrant of the most who's at fault the question would be the fire rights are you at fault councilman for the rights you got to take some blame for that because apparently your aggression by incentives of your artist the matter is significant advancement in the voice OK and subject matter because but what we did create I don't know the issue grants at councilman and then AC well consider defeating law and order

oh I very sorry because we I did make a mistake of course because he we include ourselves obviously that's what the fruit that's the question that arises what object into the charges of lack of unity or some what character is 62 what are novelty is what occurring outside sources the provisions of law Court or the question rise of the councilman acting like what well slanderous remarks against the chiefs against what gate that is stuck what that is the objection that we arise read stop saying foul language it wasn't me it was the councilman they gave me those new ideas also are what sometimes what characteristics are but what has been determined the results of waiting the claims are what they have the means and terminology of doing their own packing with respect to what we cannot or we can introduce
