Subbing to Uncle Derek has been proven more effective to brighten your mood than the leading prescription anti-depressants. Frickin love you guys and your dedication to one of the most slept-on gaming shows on YT!
TBH, I have no intention of ever getting a mouse for a console. But...Derek’s quirky passion and utterly awesome insanity is contagious AF. Always puts me in a good mood! Hell, I could listen to him ranting for three hours about the Dreamcast fishing controller. 😎
I have the PlayStation Mouse (mostly because I share Derek's enthusiasm for controllers) and I have to say: The games that were designed to use a mouse work really really well with it. Too bad it's only so few, though.
I had fun trying the n64 mouse with smash bros when I went to PRGE 2018 (I wore the Mario Cappy Hat). I hope you can continue this when it is safe to go outside again.
Thank you for these videos, I really enjoy the enthusiasm and it’s inspired myself and others to continue collecting but celebrate the awesome and weird. I Swear I think of this channel every time I see a copy of OG Doom in the wild
Imagine Nintendo produces Switch Mouses and Derek says immediately: "I will buy 100!" Grace: "No, you won't!" Derek *almost cries* Grace: *sights* "Fine. You can buy 25. But not one more!"
"You of course think... Fighting Force 64!" One of many laughs I had in this episode! Great video; really cool to see you tested the mice with so many different games!
Absolutely love the positivity from Uncle Derek and Producer Grace. Good luck in this new year, and I hope for the best for you all (puppers included) in 2021 cuz we all want more videos that celebrate the weird and awesome.
10:00 "It's not a FPS. It's a FP... B. First Person Birding (Birding Simulator). First Person Bird Beacon. It's its own thing." (BIRD, The Full Birding Action Experience for N64)
I just noticed that was Sonic Blast Man on the title screen of Bust a Move 99. Now there's an idea for a Literal Punching Weight episode. Once the world stops being scary maybe you should go find a working arcade, just be sure it's not the literal hand breaking model. Hopefully the two console games won't be hard to find.
11:15 Derek is clearly giving the "thumbs up" hand gesture in this drawing, meaning that he is more than okay being half buried in mice. His plea to Grace for help is obviously for MORE MICE.
Uncle Derek!! I played Smash with the mouse at your RetroWorld Expo panel in 2019! Tons of fun surprisingly, awesome content as always fam, can't wait to see what else you got in store for 2021!
I've been waiting for this episode ever since I saw the title of the dual analog stick episode. Two controllers just wasn't dumb enough for Uncle Derek.
Ive been watching you on and off since you were the happy video game nerd and I gotta say Im glad you've been consistently positive and inspired, keep it up.
I worked for a retro game import store before Corona f’ed everything up, we actually managed to find not only a 64 mouse, but a semi-complete disc drive set. We were missing 2 of the DD games, but it had the mouse, F-Zero, Mario Artist, etc. Someone’s grandma in rural japan accidentally sold it to the company for $50 since she didn’t know what it was, though we tried to reach out and get her more money for it. It was really neat to mess around w the F-Zero track editor at least!
Thank you Mouse Maestro! I'd be completely down for an episode of the best NES games (emulated on the N64 with an Everdrive 64) using a mouse. Naysayers may scoff at the emulation, but it simply begs to be done! Also, the ED64 can emulate a fair number of Gameboy and Gamegear games. Few buttons on the original systems might mean a whole lot more compatibility with the mice.
Thank you for continuing to create such unique and esoteric video game content. Being a life long gamer I have often wondered what it would be like to experience the various video game edge cases that exist and this channel seems to hunt down and preserve the experiences for all of us. Keep up the incredible work, you are a true video game historian. (You refers to the team I know you are both very much involved in these videos.)
I am so happy I randomly stumbled onto SSFF around the time of Bloodstained Curse of the Moon's release. You're a bright spot any time I see your face, Derek. And Grace, too! But I will absolutely fight you on the dumb games and cute dogs bit. My poison is cats, and I will go to my grave surrounded by purring!
@@LieseFury his content is pretty shirty tho, basically the same as cinema sins. Talks shit about people all day because he can't create content himself I guess 🤷♂️
To answer your sneaky hidden question, yes, I have always referred to it as "Star Wars Episode 1 Racer." There were some other games that had podracing that came out after it too, so wouldn't want to get them mixed up, but I'm sure I always called it by its full and proper name, because apparently I was a pedant, even as a little baby gamer.
Also, on the subject, I played it on PC, on a big beige Dell Windows 98 tower, never knowing it was an N64 game. For many years after I tried to run it on newer PCs, and it never ran, so when I found out it was on the N64, I turned to emulators (this being before the PC version was remastered a few years ago). It turns out there are actually some not-insubstantial differences between the PC and N64 versions of the game, including some of their rendering processes. On the surface they look very similar, but seeing as you're into this kind of weird minutiae like I am, you might be interested in looking into it, though I'm not sure it warrants an episode. Still, that game will always have a place in my heart, and I'm glad we're now able to play it again on modern systems.
"Git gud bro.", sounds just like Grace. ^_^ Thanks and cool to see you try everything out with it because we are all curious. Ah Goldeneye worked pretty good in a dual way. Dual mice nah, oh wait there is a use for that wow. Yeah nothing surprising there, not a lot of dual controller or twin-stick on most game consoles unfortunately. :\ No, send him at least two more N64 mice. ;)
I love that Matt is being successful and all but I can't lie, every time I see someone mention him or do a cameo, the void that the Super Best Friends break up left in me still hurts.
The Elmendorf BX arcade had the full sit down Podracer game when I lived there, with the dual throttles for acceleration/turning. Interesting way to play
I'm still waiting on that Doom source port Punching Weight episode. I mean, people have ported Doom to be played on a graphing calculator, car navigation, to be controlled by a piano, a toaster, and so much more. Yes, all these ports exist.
Great vid as usual but I could not take my eyes off the little yellow ROB the Robot Banker on the shelf in the background. One of RadioShack's best products for sure!
"Since its been a couple of years since the last video about the N64 Mouse" Well, would be easier with a chronological playlist, hint hint nudge nudge ;p
