I love spider plants , My plants have really produced a lot of babys so l put them in a container with water and set them out at the end of driveway with a sign that reads. Please take me home. And within 30 minutes they have a new home 🌺🌺🌺😀
I love using spider plants in my classroom. The students get a kick out of seeing the spiderlings growing off the main plant. I take the spiderlings in water, so that the students are able to see the roots grow. I keep these in my science center. So during our plants and gardening theme, we get to talk about seeds (which I have spider plant seeds) and after planting the seeds, they produce a plant, the plant then produces babies (spiderlings). They get to plant the spiderlings during the month of May to take home as Mother's Day gifts.
I wish I had you as a teacher!!! I had one teacher teach us the bean in the zip lock bag but we didn't get to see the end result. Which was like well why did we do that???
my favorite houseplants. i had so many babies i took them to a retirement community and ended up with about 50 plants. it looks like a gazebo over there.
Starting to think maybe my "spider plant" is in fact a different type as I've had it about 1yr (1st in water/now soil~doing well) but no babies, or hint of them lol🤷🏻♀️
I liked you video, I start my babies to get them to root faster in the back of my fish aquarium filter, takes about a week to get good roots on them, and it wont harm your fish. i have started several plants this way,
It's a bit late but might be helpful to somebody else. The mother plant is variegated too, just differently. I don't remember why it happens but it is apparently not uncommon for spider plants to produce babies with slightly different variegation, or no variegation.
i dont get it, how and what do i do with the babies growing to plant them and to grow more? thats what i thought u would show, but u didnt?:s i didnt atually elarn what i came here for what the title says
spooks77 she said smaller pots encourage babies I've done alot of research on how to get babies and they all say smaller pot and your light cycle matters also I personally use a plant light during the winter about 18 inches above my spiders to encourage growth and baby sprouting .
Spooks77...did you not pay attention to the video? Tight roots produce more babies! I know I'm 11 months late...but when folks post kind of dumb questions such as this one...I've got to put my two cents in. Have a wonderful day. :)
@@micheallebeshore4202 obvious you did not read Spooks77's post he said he wanted to know what to do with all of the babies and how to plant them to grow more spider plants.. So I put my two cents in for a dumb reply
My spider plants soil has become like a rock. Admittedly, I don't water it much in the winter because I can't set it out to drain as I live in the northeast. Should I take it out of its pot and replace the soil or will it be okay?
hi nell, matbe you can help me.i have an all green plant ,i have rescued, its doing great.i thought it was a spider plant, but its all green.by googling i foynd ir could be an all~green spider..then it had babies.i was cinvinced it was 7nd22d a spuder plant.but,it grows out1ard 'sideways' nor 7b a downturned, almost droopy lik2 my orher spider plants.would you tell me what ir could be? looks like spider, has lots of babies,it is 'thinner' than my spiders,it has tiny white flowers.any info woyld help! thank you!
was wondering why my one plant is producing so many more babies then my other plant o.o' they are both basically the same size and are in the exact same size pot the only difference is the plant that isn't producing many babies is one of those ones with the white stripe in the center of the leaf, iv only seen a single baby sprout out of that plant ever and the baby's growth is very very slow, it barely ever grows any bigger iv been watching it for probably 4 months now and its only like 3cm's large, my other plant though is a flat green plant and it sprouts babies like wildfire o.o' in the same 4 months time iv seen probably 20 or 25 babies sprout the ones with the white stripe just harder to get babies out of or something or is my plant just a stickler that don't wanna make babies?
What material is that yellow pot? I've heard people say ceramic or terracotta can suddenly burst from the tuberose roots!😱True? Or false? Has anyone ever experienced this? Who has their spider plants in a breakable pot?🙋♂️
Hi I noticed you mention Tucson, your spider plant looks beautiful I live in Phoenix but my plants are dying why ??can you answer that big question would appreciate that please thank you 🙏🏼
I just happened upon your channel, I see you're in Tucson! I'm about an hour south of you, I'm glad to have found a channel with someone in my climate 😁 Great video! Thanks for the info
I like your energy , about your plants...you make home plants fun. you spider plant looks different than mine...I just bought a spider plant, and it has more yellow than green leaves, and yours look dark green..how come ? This is my first spider plant and during the journey to its new home....I bent some of its leaves.. :-( the leaves didn't break, but it will not be boyant like it was , before i bought it...should i just leave it , to heal itself, or should i cut the leaf off completely (really don't want to amputate it...i just got it) any advice is appreciated. thank you
Hi - Thank you. There are many different varieties of Spider Plants & yours is different from mine. The bent leaves don't heal themselves so you can take the leaves off. Nell
the spider plants will grow in just water.. i like it when they get the babies potted cascading with their own babies.. not seen much but very nice looking. if you have the space or weather for it.. north east winters stink lulz 65 last week and snow this week fun fun thank you for sharing joyusG
I LOVE Spider plants and love the way their babies hang all down on the stems :-) I LOVED watching this video Nell and thank you so much for sharing :-) sending you heaps of love and happiness from right across the Emerald Isle to Arizona and have a FANTASTIC weekend ahead XXXXX
I love the babies too Lyn, especially on this 1 where the mother is a solid color. The flowers keep on coming too! Enjoy your week - hugs to you in beautiful Ireland from the Arizona desert. xxoo Nell
I just got my spider plants 1 month ago from my science teacher and they are the size of the baby's.....I don't know how long it's gonna take for them to grow up and produce babys.
I have killed 4 spider plants, all the leaves turn brown and shrivel up. But this last time I put the dead potted plant on my lanai and surprise, a new plant is growing. I'm scared to touch it but I am eager to place it back inside my home.
Being on the east coast I have to bring my succulents indoors for the winter. The beautiful babies always die. Should I cut them off or leave them alone once indoors?
Nice video. I see that your plant is mostly green. Mine is too. When I bought it, it was variegated. Now it’s mostly green? How do I get the white back? I thought it had something to do with lighting, but when I put it in a window with more light the dark grin started to turn pale green and it started to turn yellow. So I put it back. I’ve even tried fertilizer for house plants. Maybe I need a different type of fertilizer? How often do you fertilize? Maybe I didn’t do it enough? So, how do I get the white to return?
Thanks so much for showing me how to transplant because I have a big one it's huge it's got so many spiders it just keeps growing and growing but I think it's time to transplant it now so thank you for showing me
I love the way you narrate the process and appreciate your effort in putting under description. just a week before bought spider from nursery and placed it in a pot which left enough space around plant, do I need to Change this to a smaller pot now, I love to see plantlet on my pot, I never know about these plantlet until seeing in your video.
What makes spider plant babies grow bigger roots in the air while it’s still attached to the mother plant? I got one recently and the stalk with the babies are starting to grow yellow :(
Great video! I have tons of spider plants (the all-green ones) and I was wondering if anyone knows where I could buy a Hawaiian one? They are so hard to find. Thanks.
It looks great in yellow Nell. What a difference a new pot can make. Lots of cute little babies on the mumma. Thanx for sharing. Sending u lots of love and have a happy weekend xoxo 💕💜💚💙🌵🌹🌈
Thanks Suzie - that bright yellow just makes me smile! The plant is doing great in its new pot & is putting out even more flowers. xxoo to you in Australia from me in Arizona! Nell
What a pretty spider plant. I haven't seen many like that one really. Usually they are heavily variegated with lots of white, or fairly much solid green. That spider plant looked like it was mostly green with a little variegation? The babies looked really variegated though. You will have to give us an update down the line. I'm curious to see how much it will grow. Thanks Nell. :)
You're welcome! I love this Spider Plant because the mother is green & the babies are variegated. Yes, I'll give in update on it in a year or so. And, the babies keep coming! Nell
Hi, the stolon my my spider plant is limping and has soften a bit at the end. The base of the stolon has a bent crease to it. The flower buds has turned brown and is falling off before it blooms. The leaves are healthy but the leaves on the plantlets, which is about 1cm, has brown tips to it. I repotted it a week ago because there were too many roots coming out of the holes at the bottom on the pot. Can anyone help me?
Hi Nancy - It sounds like a reaction to moisture stress, over fertilizing, not enough light or too much chlorine in the water (spider plants are very sensitive to salt). Nell
My spider plants have brown tips on the ends. I cut them off a few weeks ago, but now they are back. What do I do to prevent this from occurring again.
Hi Laurie - Spider Plants are prone to brown tipping. Mine have some too but that's because i live in the desert. It's something with the watering. As they grow they get pot bound & need more water. Also, you water could be too hard. Nell
I love this lady. You always make me laugh and your personality reminds me so much of myself! Thank you for all that you share. I looove your videos. It's funny, recently I noticed a little green spider plant at my mom's place and she read my thoughts and gave it to me. I was wanting a green spider plant and was thrilled! Fast forward a month and a half and the plant is thriving! Now that I know what to do, I am exited for those babies!
I love the pot and the space where you hung it, but I'm curious, what kind of hanging/hook situation do you use? I have so much space on my porch where I want to hang plants but I don't know exactly how to do it.
Hi Elizabeth - I used a pretty substantial eye hook. I then have a hanging planter s hook attached to that. Just make sure that the eye hook is well attached to the porch & you should be fine. Nell
@@JoyUsGarden I just repotted my spider plant a few months ago and its growing IMMENSELY at a very rapid speed. Should I wait until next year until I repot it again ?
Hi Nell, small projects for you are huge learning lessons for me! so please keep the videos coming! My co-worker gave me some cuttings off of her spider plant and I'm watching them grow super fast, so I'm thrilled that u made this video as I know now how to transplant it when the time comes. Thanks alot !
Yeah, glad I could be of help! I figured someone(s) will benefit from these little videos. Spider Plants are easy to grow - be sure to read this post too: www.joyusgarden.com/spider-plants-easy-care-durable-can/ Enjoy, Nell
Thank you Nell!😃 Great video, I 💗 watching, keep the videos comin! Beautiful Spider plant and sooo many Babies, Love it!! I haven't tried having a Spider plant outdoors here in the So Cal Desert of Palm Springs, so far mine are indoors only, but seeing yours thriving in AZ heat is super neat😁
Hi Melissa - Thank you thank you! Palm Springs is a tad bit hotter than Tucson but both are definitely desert climates. My Spider Plant does great outside here but it only gets about 45 minutes of direct early morning sun. If you try yours outdoors, make sure it's in bright shade only. And, I have to water mine every 3 days or so. More videos coming - thanks for watching! Nell
