Your Interritus Instructors decided the best way to spend an un-booked Spring Break was to do what all the college kids do: head to the shore. We contacted Pensacola's MBT (Maximum Bottom Time) Dive Shop and booked passage on the Stacie Nicole, Emerald Ocean Dive Charter's dive boat, to dive the Great Carrier Reef, The Mighty "O", the largest vessel ever sunk for a reef program...the USS Oriskany (C-34)!
Day 1, our dive boat encountered some interestingly rough-ish seas heading straight into the wind out of Pensacola, Captain David Forrester and Dive Master Jason of Emerald Ocean Dive Charter brought us safely to our dive site, where the winds died and the seas calmed.
Day 2 The Stacie Nicole was unavailable as the Captain was scheduled to get Maried. However, he hooked us up with Captain Andy Ross of Niuhi DIve Charter and it was smooth sailing there and back. So Poseidon had his fun in killing Bill's Cobalt 2, rapid-draining his Go-Pro battery, and killing the battery in Kim's air pressure transponder. But with some gear swapping and help from Captain Andy Ross and Dive Master Meagan Stephens (Follow her @meagan_stephens on Insta and YT) Niuhi Dive Charters, we hit the water only 10 minutes off schedule and down we went.
