The coalplant spot is called secret bcus my idiot heavy insists on hiding there and feeding

Coalplants 'secret' is named that way because the map is essentially ashville which has a cover in that spot

I kinda wish TF2 had the feature CS has where you can label areas with callouts, would be wonderful (and horrible) to see what names mappers come up with.

The shutters on coalplant should be called Rutter for red side and Butter for blue side

At 2:15 I've heard people call that window "JFK" or "sniper spot" instead of window. That might've just been the people I played it with (which was like a couple times back in like 2012) but yeah.

When I think about strange callouts, I just think of that one old ArraySeven clip where, on badlands(?), he said "the roamer is going taco", and his whole team was wondering what the hell he was talking about, before he explained that the area below the middle bridge was shaped like a taco. Also probably has zero competitive viability, but if you don't call that one spot on Sawmill "super secret", I'm happy to inform you that you don't exist. I mean come on, you all know the spot. Jerma knows the spot! And he invented TF2!

You could call that window overlooking the end of Badwater ‘Cross’ since that’s what the window type is. That’s probably too obscure.

I mostly don’t understand a thing about competitive anything, let alone TF2, but I really like your energy and style of editing, so I’ll be coming back for more vids. What I want to bring attention to are how you use players in the background to subtly or directly emphasize what you’re saying. Or just make jokes in the background, which I find hilarious. It is actually very interesting how many callouts tf2 shares with cs. I guess there's a large enough player crossover that people wanted to use callouts they were already familiar with saying instead of making new ones. Some of the more random ones in this video, like "africa," are callouts in cs.

The spot under second on snake water is (to my understanding) called Africa because that spot used to be the darkest spot on the map. It had no lights so it was pitch black.

The window on 3rd in highlander it used to be the best spot for sniper on the map. You used to be able to block spy with dispenser and put a level 3 up wrangled that you just cannot kill blocking any dmg on the sniper.

I have never played competitive tf2 and have no idea how it works, but you are very entertaining anyway. Good job.

Underneath sunshine mid is called submarine by some. And two things called the same thing on a symmetrical map isn't actually as confusing as you might think. If someone omits 'our' or 'their' when describing something like saw on snakewater, it's generally because you are either still on your side of the map and 'their' saw for example is completely irrelevant, or because you are well over on their side of the map, at which point your own saw is completely irrelevant. The only time it can be important to distinguish is when you are on mid, between the two callouts of the same name. And even in that case if you use the call out, it's assumed you're talking about the obvious call out within the context like 'enemy combo coming [their] saw' or 'we're retreating [our] saw'. And if it was NOT the obvious call out, you would probably use helper words and context like 'scout flanking our saw'. Flanking implies behind or beside and you would also use the word 'our' to specify. Finally there is the rare situation when someone flanks all the way past the close symmetrical map call out and is all the way at the far one. Like if you were on snakewater second pushing last and a soldier gets really really deep behind you. Someone might call 'solly is OUR saw' at which point you all go 'wtf is he doing' and push last. Having written all that out and realizing it took an entire paragraph to explain, I will admit maybe it's not as straightforward as I thought.

Map callouts are one of those things that nigh repulse me because I ain’t good at memorizing them but tying them into anecdotes helps a lot lmao

I remember having map reviews with my teams every week when I was in lower divs, we’d usually just make up callouts if we didn’t know what they were. I’m pretty sure borneo and swiftwater both had like 5 or 6 instances of “house” when we did that lol

Me and several others have called that one "window" spot in Badwater "Perch" because it's considered a Sniper's Perch. And that one stupid Secret spot is usually "Cloak Spot"

So 1:52 coalplant is actually a variant of a map called Ashville which is played all the time in NA, and in that version there is a proper secret area. I played tons of NA HL. 4:46 you call "red shutter" or "blue shutter."
