Life straws would be extremely important & easily portable to have drinking water pretty much anywhere there's any water. I'd stick to bottled water if possible though. Much tastier I bet.

I’m in SW. Louisiana. We had two back to back 4 or 5 years ago. It wasn’t pleasant and took several years for some people to get back in their homes. Most people are still here. It’s funny, I sometimes think about the people living on the gulf coast and wonder why they still live there. I think they get hit with almost every hurricane.

Yeah, I don’t know much about how Texas handles things, but I will say Florida is typically really good at dealing with situations like this, and is great at preparing as much as humanly possible. And I absolutely DESPISE Governor Desantis, but the one - and maybe ONLY - good thing I will say about him is that he knows how to handle crisis situations like this, and has been doing so for years. Floridians in general are very good at coming together and helping each other out, and making sure everyone has what they need to brace for these storms, and emergency crews across the state are well managed and prepared to take care of their communities. I used to live in Florida, and I know the state is often a punching bag for many reasons, people love to pick on the state and it’s people, but despite what some people want to believe, there are a lot of truly great people in the state. And it shouldn’t even matter to say this, but for total clarification, I am a democrat. But most people in Florida don’t look at each other as red vs. blue, especially when it comes to crises like a hurricane. We are all neighbors. I honestly wish the rest of the country could start thinking that way again as well.

Best to not add to their pain by playing keyboard Rescue Forman. Your 2 cents of what the president, governors and mayors already know isn’t important nor helpful. At least pray instead of keyboard directing and send money to legit organizations! Up here in Manhattan, we’ve been organizing supplies and helping our friend get in contact with loved ones to see what they need from us. Did you reach out to those you know down there to offer help before they lost power?? Everyone knows some one to some degree impacted by the two hurricanes. Tampa hasn’t been hit in 100 years, that’s not true. Hurricane Ian was the last major storm to hit the west coast directly since Charlie in 2004. This storm is devastating to coastal areas and all across Florida, there’s feet of water in towns all across Florida. Don’t talk about things you don’t know about. Respect the lives lost and damage this caused

There’s only been about a dozen Cat 3 or stronger landfalls in all of Florida, in all of recorded history. Florida gets plenty of near misses and landfalls from tropical storms and weak hurricanes. That was part of the danger. Floridians don’t respect the true potential of a major hurricane. It’s like when Wile E Coyote paints a tunnel next to the real tunnel, then the Road Runner goes through the painted opening. That happens a few times and Wile E tries to run through the painting, too. Cat 3+ is the point where widespread damage to infrastructure occurs. Storm surge can reach miles inland. At Cat 4, damage happens to infrastructure that will take months to repair. A Cat 5 is basically unsurvivable unless you’re in a structure specifically built to survive 150 mph sustained winds and massive storm surge.

Just like they said above me, then you have other places who deal with intense snow are you have places that are complete desert they all have their own issues. So you have to pick which one you wanna deal with and use it we don’t really even pick it because usually it’s where we were born and where our families are. Some people choose to move there. I was born and raised in Hampton Roads, Virginia 30 minutes from the beach. I left one up to the mountains and I had to deal with snow there so driving on ice and snow can be deadly.
