I've haphazardly attempted to start green coffee beans a few times without success. This time, I mean science!
Testing 13 different growing media and 3 different seed sources in replicates of 12 for a total of 468 coffee seeds sown.
If this won't grow a coffee tree, I don't know what will.

▾ Coffea arabica seed germination protocol ▾
(no longer recommended--see video #2)
► soak in 40°C water for 4 hours
► wash with soapy water
► disinfect with 10% household bleach for 30 minutes
► rinse with sterile water
► soak for 3 days at 27°C
► sow in sterile growing media
► incubate at 25-27°C with light for up to 90 days
▾ CORRECTIONS ▾
► Isopropyl alcohol is an acceptable sterilant and will not damage plants.
