Skip Steller has put together a great tutorial on how to change out the Velcro to magnets on MCD shades. You can check it out here: www.dropbox.com/s/l5rw561q6iuy0d6/DIY%20to%20Replace%20Velcro%20with%20Magnets%20on%20MDS%20Shades.pdf?dl=0
Thank you so much for the shout out to our channel! You have some very loyal fans! We got a shout out from Luke Thill last week who has over 50,000 followers (and is an incredibly talented young man who built his first tiny house at the age of 13) and we didn't see any change in our subscribers after the shout out. We get a shout out from you and our subscriber numbers blow up today! We have come to appreciate and trust your advice and obviously all your followers feel the same way. Thanks again!
Tip on elbow pad. Before Amazon had such an item, we took a piece of memory foam we had leftover and cut to fit the door armrest and slipped it into a long athletic sock. It is longer than the Amazon one and was basically free. Years later it still works.
I just saw Carrie on One Advanture at a time, do a presentation on putting in a screen door on the back of her van. She said if you put 3M tape on the back of the Velcro, it will stick great. You have to leave it on and up for 24 hours before using it but it solved the problem of the Velcro falling off.
Wishing John a speedy recovery form his hip surgery. We’ll be sending lots of healthy healing thoughts and wishes. Best Regards from fellow Ascent owners in So. Oregon. Michelle & Dave
Thanks so much for the great ideas/hacks! We are praying all goes well with John’s surgery Monday! We know he will have a very speedy recovery and will be good as new!
Great tips! For the sticky shade (or any sticky residue): rub olive oil onto the residue, then dip dampened fingers into baking soda, then rub the baking soda into the olive oil. You may have to use a little more baking soda, but I’ve found this combo works great! Keep the videos coming!
+judi stevenson Thanks for the tip. I’ll try it along with the suggestion by another viewer to use peanut butter. Will see which is better. I know which one will taste better. ;-))
Enjoy your channel. Just installed the same shower head. We were using the bamboo mat as well in the bathroom. It cracked the floor at one corner. This is not covered by warranty and will be expensive if we want something other than a visible patch. So we switched to flexible click together plastic squares bought at a marine store. I used two squares and had to trim.
Another fun video! Especially when you showed how dirty my refrigerator fans are! LOL I have to put that on my "to do list -cleaning". Have a great weekend!
The use of binding on the edge of your window covers actually strengthens the edge which sees lot of action. A self bind might be easier or cheaper but your binding is a great asset to keep the Velcro from being ripped off and tearing the fashion fabric. Good idea!! Had you thought of putting the male side of the Velcro on the metal door and not the plastic? Maybe use a button and snap like Slim did in his new rig. Thanks for all the ideas. Y’all are cute
Thanks for all the ideas Debbie. We have a 5th wheel and the shower hose you showed is much better than ours. Will have to purchase one. Great tips and trips with the cords and such. They can really be a bother. Safe travels
Love the tip on the cords. Even beside my bed at home it’s a nightmare. I’m going to buy that cord management device so I’m not dealing with that tangle anymore.
Just found you channel and really enjoy you posts. We used to own a Pleasureway B+ and so we can relate to much of your advice😄. One thing I found that I really liked was to keep the teak shower mat with my outside shower stuff and on the inside, placed a plastic/rubber square sink mat on the bathroom floor...easy to clean and drained easily if we showered inside or suffered any spillage. Just an idea for your viewers.
Thanks so much for these most helpful tips, Debbie. I don't have a Pleasure Way - we have a new Tiffin Wayfarer (Mercedes Chassis) and a B+/C-. I just discovered your channel and am so impressed by your commitment and generosity in sharing such valuable info. The Amazon boxes are stacking up in our garage! Lol. P.S. Where did you get that cute top? Must have!!
Thanks. I know the feeling about the boxes stacking up. Amazon is here almost every day. I got the top in Vermont several years ago but it is a well known brand called Salaam. Love their prints.
FWIW, when I removed the Velcro on my Ascent’s blinds, I cleaned the goo off with Goof Off. A similar product is Goo Gone. No damage to the blinds. Also, I’ve never had any difficulty with the blinds. The only time they’ve moved slowly has been in really cold weather.
That's good to know although MCD says not to use it but they are probably being overly cautious. I have both products. I think I have heard that one is stronger than the other so I will see if I can research that. I'm glad your blinds are working for you. Ours have been nothing but a pain. MCD makes quite few different styles. I wonder if we have something different.
Hi Debbie and John, new to your youtube page and loving your tips and hacks. The USB chargers come in 2 type, 1.2A and 2.1A charging rates. Therefore the 2.1A units will always charge faster, however if charging overnight then the 1.2A suffices. Iain fae Scotland
@@FromShetoMe I couldn't see quite what it's said on the front of the charger, however every 12 watts = 1amp at 12volts so if its 48watts, it would be 4amps which would normally drive 2 usb outputs @ 2amps, hope this helps. Always willing to help with electrical issues. Cheers Iain.
This is your third or fourth fix for the bed I think I will wait before I make any more changes with our bed. We are serious about have a custom van build. We buy a new Mercedes Sprinter 170 and deliver it to the van conversion people. The things I think are useless on our Roadtrek are the awning we never use it because it is not worth the hassle. The AC is loud and can only be used with the generator then you will go deaf from their noise. No need for a fossil fuel generator. A separator toilet seems to be the answer to the black water toxicity if you never put pee and poop together no smells and no dumping issue except for gray water.
I totally agree with all of those. Plus, I would replace the fridge with a 12 volt chest style fridge, add more solar, remove the microwave and make the bathroom a smidge larger for John. I wish I could afford one of George's custom vans. ;-))
No. We did not want to exceed 20 feet. I like that it forces us to reduce our stuff. The only thing I would change is the bathroom/fridge layout. I think I could layout that side more efficiently to give a larger bathroom. The real problem is John is vertically challenged.
Hi Debbie! new sub here, watching your channel for over a month now and love it ..so informative! :-). Wanted to comment on a couple of things from this video. First that old style USB port is referred to as USB type A.. so in your example it would be usbA to usbC. Second.. did you know that you can create folders / playlists and save videos for later viewing in RU-vid? Just long press on the Save (in a video) which will bring up a folder menu where you can save/create the folders for your videos. Very handy and you don't have to download them You might save some $$$? I'm Canadian so you can come and visit again anytime! Take care Debbie. John (not your husband John!) Lol.
Welcome to the channel. What gets confusing with cables are the speeds at which they transfer power or data. We need some color coding and better verbiage. I should definitely create a folder of favorite videos so I don’t have to try to find them again. But I will probably keep the premium membership because I really dislike watching commercials. Thanks for your tips. Always appreciated. 😁
Wow 8 weeks withMaverick. It took 12 months when I was diagnosed after having a needle stick from a patient. The worse year of my life. Hep C. It was horrible.
Hi Debbie, hope surgery went well for John. Also, wondering how you like the suspension upgrade so far. Have you noticed more noise from the tires? I can only imagine it makes the van nicer to handle on dirt roads. I'm really looking for to my visit to Agile Offroad in July. Cheers and best wishes for John.
We love it. I talk about the suspension on Friday's video. I didn't mention noise though and we don't think it has affected noise at all. John is doing well. We're on target for our Alaska departure. Thanks.
FYI- I never found the link on Neils channel for the Shower head, would you post a link on here please. There's several people I could tell about it. All of those shower connections are 1/2" regular fittings.
Unfortunately, the company changed the design of the head. I don't like the new design and don't think it will fit in the outside compartment but here is a link: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01F78MLRE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This is a question pertaining to your 2 year old post on using 1" foam under a Target sheet and it sliding around, etc. My husband,, John, needs more padding under him and I am thinking of getting a Queen jersey type fitted sheet over the 1" foam pad for the sofa and leaving it there. Do you think the foam would get all wonky when the sofa goes up and down. I would leave the sofa in the down position but I have an older Excel with a kitchen cabinet on one side and the TV on the other really preventing comfortable use of the ottomans as seats for dining.Any thoughts? Hope you and John continue to thrive with your lifestyle!
It might get a little weird with the padding under the sheet but you might also figure out a way to use some elastic to hold it tight against the bed frame. Or see if you can find a twin mattress pad that gives you enough padding.
Debbie, I would like to recommend you start a Tik Tok channel as well. There are a lot of manufacturers that may pay you to advertise there product or test for your viewers. Just a thought. Cheers!
Thanks Kevin. I'm not your typical RU-vidr. Thankfully, I'm not in need of commercializing the channel. I turn down offers from manufacturers almost every day. It's pretty exhausting just putting out a video each week and I especially dislike any videos in the vertical format. Although John watches TicToc, I don't even have an account.
Oops, I always forget something. I've got it up there now but here you go: www.amazon.com/dp/B01F78MLRE/?cv_ct_id=amzn1.idea.356DDRHD5ANUO&cv_ct_pg=storefront&cv_ct_wn=aip-storefront&ref=exp_cov_fromshetome_lv_dp_vv_d
The company that made the one with the squareish head (Jooe) doesn't make it any longer. I've replaced the indoor shower head with this one: www.amazon.com/dp/B01F78MLRE?ref=exp_fromshetome_dp_vv_d
My husband would leave me for you, thin, pretty and loves gadgets, cool gadgets. Goo be gone would take that sticky off the blind. And my mom would have adored you, those curtains are amazing. And the bed making, interesting. We changed our queen into 2 singles, I would prefer 35 wide but they are 39 so basically we have a bigger than king bed, long story. Excellent video, great tip for make the bed before going to a buggy place, we try to gas up before we hook up to trailer, even though it is only 17 ft long, just easier.
Deb can you remind what model InstaPot you have and how many quarts? Also I find your Amazon store has so many things that do t seem to be part of your show. I am looking at From She To Me TV store. Is there some other thing I should look under?
@@FromShetoMe I did a search under She to me and from she to me. There is a link to an RV store under both names. It’s a misleading search needless to say and not everyone has the exact link. Perhaps that is something you can look at. Thanks
@@lesliejones7903 I think someone has taken a similar name to confuse people. I don't think there is anything I can do about it. But I appreciate you letting me know.
What size is that grey sheet you use over the sofa/bed? I’m betting that measures about same as sofa in my Leisure Travel Van. Thanks for you tips, I’ve watched every one of your videos. I so enjoy your point of view and ideas.
I grabbed a sheet I knew to be twin and tried on my 05 LTV sofa and it fits. Then I thought to check tag on sheet..... it’s a twin extra long and fits perfect. But being as it’s black, from younger sons late teen years, I’m going to check Target and other places for deep twin extra long in a color or pattern I like. So, for vintage Leisure Travel vans with sofa, twin extra long sheets with deep pockets of you plan a topper, is perfect.
@@VeldaE12 Excellent. The one thing I noticed at Target is they only have one type that is sold as separate pieces and the colors are limited but at least they appear to be well constructed and are soft. Not sure they have the extra long though but check on line as well.
From She to Me: turned out I had just bought a nice microfiber set on Amazon so I plan to leave sofa flat and make it as twin bed. My husband died last September so I’m modifying stuff and things to suit travel for one! So glad you gave that tip, because for my new situation, it’s perfect! And if you visit northern CA and need Sprinter service I highly recommend Rocklin Mercedes! Just had them bring all service up to date and I’m impressed. And wave in Roseville as you drive by!
is that the Rode Wireless go Mic? how do you like it for vlogging? Maybe you could share the tools you use for shooting video and audio. I'm always interested in what people are using. Thanks!
I absolutely love it! I have struggled with audio, buying stuff that is crap. As soon as I saw it reviewed at the NAB show, I ordered it because I had a feeling they might run out. It works with both my iPhone and my Canon, although with a slightly different connector at different decibel settings. At some point I will share what I am using a part of a viewer comment video...probably within the month. Thanks for asking.
We sleep north/south but his feet hang over into the aisle. No different than at home where his feet hang over the queen size bed. He's mostly a side sleeper so not really an issue. I do sometimes have to ask him to pull up his feet so I can get up or if I need to open the fridge door. ;-))
I discovered a week ago the the shower head is no longer available. Amazon had swapped in another one so I removed it from my Storefront. I’ll check on the bamboo mat and get back to you.
My Storefront is listed in the description box but if you view on phone it may not be available. I just checked and the bamboo mat is in the organization tab: Amazon.com/shop/fromshetome
@SmellyCat This is very strange. Amazon has substituted the item for something else and they did the same thing to Neil at Ultramobility which is where I learned about it. I even checked our orders and they even changed it in our orders as if we purchased the substitute. If I am able to figure out anything I will let you know but it is very difficult while we are on the road. Rare to have decent wifi. I'm bummed because I was going to order a second one. I removed the substitute from my storefront so that folks don't order it.
@SmellyCat I was able to find the image on a google search but when I click through, it takes me to the substitute so it probably isn't available any longer.
Good luck ! My Jon had his heart Cath on Wednesday. They thought due to MRI heart imaging that he had a 60\80 % blockage but when they went in they only saw normal calcification ..but he does have a apex abnormal heart pumping issue follow up may 6th with the Bay pines VA
It isn't worth the hassle. By the time you are done removing everything that would get wet, setting up the shower curtain, drying off everything afterwards you are ready for another shower. As my mom would say, "too much sugar for a dime." The alternatives are better: planet fitness, truck stops, campgrounds, outdoors, wash hair in the sink, wet washcloth. Seriously, the amount of effort for a 30 second shower (because you are saving water), just isn't worth it. But to each his own...
Good to know. I will pass this along to my husband who thinks he wants a shower in the van (if we buy a van - also looking at small trailers). Do you find value in the indoor toilet? I probably would only want to use that if I had to.
Oh the toilet is an absolute essential. I think you'll get over that pretty fast. It is so convenient, especially for night time. I follow lots of millennial in their van life and even many of them are starting to go for the composting toilets (which I wish were an option). Good luck in your search.
@@FromShetoMe Thanks! There's also a double bag system (I also watch the millennials) which doesn't use any water and is easier than the composting toilets. There is a young women who built green homes discussing this and why she went that way. Wish I could remember her name - lives in a van, educated on all things environmental.
@@FromShetoMe Here's the toilet, apparently bags are biodegradable according to one viewer who commented. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GMa6yTos38s.html
You had an app one time that gave you all the rest, stop laws and the gun laws I think I think it was you and I don’t can’t find the app. I can’t find your video on it. Can you tell me what the name of the app is so I can download it it had all kinds of information other than the gun laws in the rest stop laws take how long you can stay rest rest told you the gun law I believe it was how you can carry them or not carry or lock them up.
