Midfoot volume is underrated. Many shoes are too narrow in the midfoot.

Totally agree. I can't wear most Nike or Adidas as they are crazy narrow for my brick feet.

I have the opposite problem. Too much and I get creasing which causes discomfort/rubbing. I have only realised in recent years just how narrow my foot is (ie I like the fit of most Adidas uppers). NB are pretty much a no-go zone for me even in their 'standard' fit

When are we going to see a review of the Topo Spector 2? Very excited about that shoe! Still waiting on the review of the Altra Escalante 4 that you guys said was coming out soon.

Noosa Tri 16 features Guidsole technology that's why there is a steep roll off.

More toe box for sure. I remember buying one of the first machs from Hoka and they were so tight and narrow. Think I retired them after 150 miles.

Toebox width, toebox height, midfoot volume are my main issues and I can't wear most running shoes. I have 6E feet but a few 4E shoes can fit. My toes are pretty close in length so a tapered toebox doesn't work for me, even in 6E shoes. And I have high arches so I need a lot of midfoot volume. I really like stretchy uppers as they I can move their toes up and down. The New Balance 1080 and More work for me but there are a lot of shoes that I just can't even get my foot into. I assume that most people don't have these issues given how few shoes there are out there that accommodate long toes, wide toes, etc.

My feet aren’t as wide as yours, but I agree. I’m more between a 2E and 4E, and thank God for New Balance. 1080v13 in 4E is awesome, and the SC Trainer v2 in 2E is doable.

@@raybadudu787 thanks, i may try the SC trainer! Man the 1080v13 have been pretty awesome wade for me into New Balance so much so that I feel that I've found a company that works for me. I had tried the Mizuno super wides and man had no chance in them as much as I wanted them to work. The shape just was unstable because it didn't support the front of my feet and was even tight'ish in the midfoot. I haven't been able to try the SC trainers or higher end ones for race but they seem like the main option when I want to step up to plated shoes for racing though.

Thanks for the video! I’m still running in the triumph 20, my second pair. It’s a tank for long miles. Last pair got them to over 400 miles

Thank you for your efforts guys, much appreciated. A suggestion if you revisit this topic; why not try to find other contributors with preferences for both wider, and more narrow footshapes. With the best will in the world the opinion of a narrow footed runner will be of little value to a "wide-footer", and vice versa.

I've only tried 3 from this list, but I would go Triumph 22 - like David, I think there is too much upper for my liking, but it was very comfy. Actually could have received a free pair, but I opted for the Ride 17. Boston 12 - only one I own. Upper is the downside to this shoe. Have to watch for lace bite. It rubbed the top of my toes on my longest run in them (17mi). Luckily the heel collar hasn't bothered me like some of the other models. ... Mach 6 - Had a demo run this past Thursday. Put them on and the toe box was just way too narrow. Took them off and just ran in my own shoes. Consistent issue for me with Hokas.

When the upper doesn't have enough volume does it make sense to go up to a wide?
@chrisreyes7326

Isn't this more of a ranking of uppers than fit? The fit of a shoe can be great but the upper can be trash or vice versa. For me personally Topo shoes fit great, having a balance of midfoot security while letting my toes splay. My favorite upper has been the Ultraventure 3 and will definitely be trying the Specter 2

I *love* the FWD Experience. Anyone have suggestions for a similar shoe? I'm looking for a max cushion shoe for the long runs.
