日本からミズノの方に直接説明いただけるとは!とても参考になりました。今履いてるシューズがへたったら購入しこちらの秋のNYのレースで履ければと、そしてPB出すのを手伝ってもらえればと思ってます! Best contents! Learn a lot from explanation from Shunsuke-san and Ayako-san! I definitely try those shoes and hoping to help me to achieve PB!Thank you for bringing them!
Exited ½ way through . Not because it was uninteresting, but rather Matt and Andrea had engaged with only one of the three guests by that point. I realize you are both smitten by the shoe geometry and foam. However, as hosts being more inclusive as soon as possible gives a more professional look .
I would disagree: it looks like guests decided who would speak and who would not. Maybe a cultural thing for Japan that the managers took over and anyone else would defer to him. I noticed that Andrea and Matt did not address the guests by name. The manager just took it on himself to answer the questions. The woman only spoke up when the manager asked her to comment/answer. Of, I'm not saying it's right or wrong: it's just in tge culture.
One of the ways to keep manufacturing costs down by using EVA instead of the newer foams. So thr cost stays lower on the Neo Vista $180. EVA tends to be more resilient and hopefully will last longer. The foams from Super shoe racers being used in trainers ends up having racer type lifespans rather than trainer life spans.
Good point! I have hosted many live podcasts over multiple time zones and always engage with all. One podcast I had Chicago, UK, Dubai & Australia all at same live podcast.
Thanks, Matt. I think I’ll be saving up for the K31 as the thinner material is more suitable to the tropical climate here in the Philippines 🇵🇭 cheers for the quick update!
I don't know if it's because Shunsuke isn't a native English speaker, but he is a much more interesting guest than most other representatives of running shoe brands. He speaks much more directly and doesn't use marketing jargon. The Wave Rebellion Pro is one of my favorite shoes, and I plan to buy the Neo Vista as soon as it comes out in 2 weeks. Great interview!
I've put 75 miles in my Neo Vista already and loving it. Really want to try the others soon even though I have many pairs of super shoes. I am a midfoot striker and hope these work for me like Andrea! I'll definitely try the Wave Duel Pro out!
Matt’s face when the dude says EVA is priceless. I haven’t run a ton in the Neo Vista yet, but equally shocked and must rethink “boring EVA” completely.
New Balance Fuel Cell was super critical Eva for the longest time but now they jumped on the peba bandwagon. Most brands feel the need to have peba due to the perception in the consumers mind that it's superior. I'd argue not everyone does well with peba based foams, especially at lower hobby jogging paces of around 8 to 10 minute/ mile pace. Just an opinion though, nothing scientific.
These new Mizunos have been awesome ❤. I'm coming from being a sprinter and football player so I'm a midfoot striker. I also like hiking. As I've gotten into longer running the Wave Rebellion Flash's have definitely helped along the way. Looking forward to adding the Neo Vista and the Rebellion Pro's
I listened to the podcast 2 times. For me angles of attack is the most interesting. Actually ordered an additional (my second) Wave Rebellion Pro V1 because I understand that because of the 6° in your V1 it is better for me than the 11° of the V2. Will definitely get the Neo Vista when it comes to Europe.
Being old and slow runner but also heel striker the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro V1 saves my lower calf and Achilles tendon. No more heel striker because there is no heel 😂
If the Neo Vista is like the SC Trainer v1 I might have to order one. Been waiting for something to replace it since New Balance didn't want to keep it real.
I finally had to tap out on this shoe. I've worn many Guide versions over the years but this one just isn't working. I'm blaming it for my post-tib flaring up again. As comfortable as it feels for long runs, the drop is too low for me and as a heel striker, the rocker just seems to make my foot work harder to move forward. I get that we're 'rolling' forward but when you start on your heel it feels like I have to run up and over the shoe on every step. I was in Hoka shoes for a couple of years but due to their lack of durability switched back to shoes that lasted longer (Saucony) and hadn't had an issue since. I get what they're saying with the stability engineering, but in reality it feels like it's a stability shoe for someone who really doesn't need stability.
Lower drop shoes always irritates my post tib. I’d love to try the Hoka arahi though, but… I’m sorry to see a lot of companies going lower drop and less stability. Had some luck with the kayano 30 but they’re a bit bulky. I’ll try the 31s.
I bought a Kayano 30 thanks to the sale brought about the 31. The 30 is still a new arrival in my country, so I went and got it from abroad. The 30's upper has a stiff sidewall / toecap in the forefoot mesh. Seems my left toes splay ever so slightly more than my right foot does, enabled by the wider fit in the forefoot area, but now it causes my pinky toe to rub against the stiff mesh. Formed a nasty blister after just the first 5K of running. Wondering if I can expect this to get better as the shoe breaks in or if I should expect to need blister protection throughout the shoe's lifetime.
The MS3 looked good, but I got a discounted Edge v1 for fast workouts. I rotate with Streakfly and Hyperion tempo for track & fast workouts. The MS4 looks like a shoe I just don’t want or need.
Awesome info. Thank you for taking your time to do it. Quick question, currently I'm running in the Brooks adrenaline gts 14. They've been good. But was looking for a shoe with a little less aggressive arch support... would either one of these 2 that you reviewed have "less aggressive" arch support or will they be the same as the brooks Adrenaline gts 14? Thank you much.
I’m happy using the Noosa Tri 14, just a great all round shoe find it better than the Magic Speeds to be honest, had the 2’s only used them for a couple of runs, it just felt awful didn’t even bother looking at the 3’s won’t be looking at the 4’s either
Conjecturing here but, its possible the MS4 kind of orphans the Superblast. The MS4 looks like a better training companion to the Metaspeed Paris shoes and it's cheaper.
I love the magic speed3 as the racing flat speed. I had over 750km in it, and it still delivers a decent workout. I have the s4 and it is similar to the MS3 except foam, 3mm more stack, and better laces. I use the Ms3 for session and 5/10k. I like the s4 for 10k/HM. This fS4 is a totally different shoe. I really wish they had kept the racing flat style. Everything these days are max and as a consumer, i dont need them in all my shoe.
I absolutely love my magic speed 3 and I've already put nearly 200 mi on them and they are still going strong. One of my favorite shoes to consistently train in. I love that it has an actual lower stack height. I do have other Max cushion shoes including the super blast. If I wanted a more personal training I go to that shoe. It feels like they kind of went the wrong direction with the magic speed 4 by giving it a much higher stack height, I feel like it's a shoe that should have been left at a low stack height and maybe work on the upper. It just doesn't seem as exciting. It seems like it sits right next to the super blast just with a plate
@@DoctorsofRunning a comparison between the Superblast 1 and MS4 would be brilliant. With the Superblast 2 touted as being softer (remains to be seen) then version 1. I am desperate to find a shoe that runs similarly to the Superblast 1 which can no longer be found anywhere.
It looks like the MS4 is now playing a little more towards the SC Trainer, Neo Vista market, but still towards the faster end of that spectrum with the firmer ride. I'm still leaning towards the Neo Vista because of my personal use case but it looks like a nice shoe. I struggle with the geometry of the Superblast and this looks like a better fit for me though.
Asics had this mystery shoe called Superblast. Everybody including me thought it was overpriced. I think they now have a SC Trainer/Endorphine Speed 4/Boston 12 version of a running shoe also . I am looking forward to more reviews and comparisons.
Thanks for the comparison. Was looking for a versatile tempo training/racing shoe 5-21k max and managed to find the edge plus for €120/$130 on sale so couldnt hive it up 🙏 hasn't disappointed
@@DoctorsofRunning I just don’t know its role. The 3 was up temp, this seems to try to join the niche of several other ASICS shoes. The only difference is the plate. Getting Kinvara Pro vibes
Seems like the magic speed 4 is like a training companion to the sky/ edge paris similar to what saucony is doing with the endorphin speed 4 and pro 4. One big difference between the magic speed 4 and super blast will be price, with the magic speed coming in much cheaper, but the superblast is also over 40mm of stack using ascics top race foam, without the carbon plate. So although the super blast and magic speed 4 may overlap in terms of the types of runs they can do, they go about it in different ways and will probably have a different feel.
Great review, sizing question. I am TTS in the Metaspeed Sky Plus and Edge Plus but 1/2 down in the Superblast and Novablast. How does the Speed 4 fit?
I’m 1/2 down in the Superblast and Novablast 4, too. I actually feel I could have gone down 1/2 in the Metaspeed Paris too, so I’m going to go down half a size in this as well.
In short, they took discount Takumi Sen and turned into chunky Boston. I'm wondering why Asics don't have any competitive offering for short distance/tempo shoes. Adidas got the Takumi Sen, Nike got the Streakfly, Saucony got the Sinister, New Balance got the Pacer. Most of these shoes have full length premium foam to boost the performance and Asics completely out of the picture unless they are coming up with a brand new running shoe.
Yep, agree. Although perhaps it's not a big enough market for them to be interested. I usually use a full carbon racer for my interval sessions these days.
@@berthein5476 Hyperspeed not even in the same league with those shoes since it doesn't offer anything. It's heavily outclassed by Adizero Adios series and maybe on par with SL2.
Think of the magic speed 4 like a competitor to the Saucony speed 4. The superblast is a different style of shoe probably more comparable to ultra max cushion super trainers. The superblast will also be much more expensive.
My guess is because the Superblast 2 with only FFTurbo+ without a plate will be too soft for some runners. I know running with the Metaspeed Paris FFTurbo+ does get very soft once broken in, but the firm plate stabilizes it somewhat. But the Superblast doesn’t have a plate so that’s where this comes in. Of course they could have given this FFTurbo+ but then why would anyone buy the Metaspeed Paris, so they held back. The MS4 is basically a plated Superblast, which sounds pretty cool.
Just a thought: if one's using (for example) the Magic Speed 3 in a rotation of 5+ pairs, the shoe will be more than fine in the year or so time period until the new version. I've got Magic Speed 2 and apart from little worn out of the heel they are like new. There is no need for new versions if your old shoe is like new, and the chances of this to be true are very high, unless you only run in this shoe or you run like 200miles/week or you're especially harsh on shoes - all of these cases are rare. Just my 2 cents.
