Did Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain ever get mentioned in the first video? I don't remember... Literally just seconds after the first cutscene ends, you are swarmed by villagers and killed... Granted, it is integral to the story that this should happen, but non-the-less, you still are killed within moments of starting.
@MetalHeadReacts amazing game, I had it on Sega cd "the expansion to mega drive I'm a brit" and when you got the ability to completely flay enemies down to the bone it was awesome, later games were still good especially soul reaver but I missed that top down style too.
If you want a good in depth review of both Shadow Hearts games as well as the spiritual precursor Koudelka I recommend Majuular. He has some good long form videos on these and other rpgs that are great listens
So I'm already subscribed, but I just have to comment on Jules' statement about subscription and say that I, for one, was certainly hoping he would get more bald eventually and I'm kind of saddened that he hasn't yet considering how long I have been watching him
Space Hulk 93 was THE WORST. I'd be trying to pour as much strategy into it, then suddenly the dude guarding the back on overwatch gets RNG'd to death. Next thing, the rest of my squad is being turned into meat coleslaw.
It makes me sad Shadow Hearts is considered a deep cut. The first two games are all time great JRPGs. Covenant in particular is so hilariously bonkers but also has one of my most tragic game endings ever.
Bangai-O Spirits and Bangai-O Missile Fury are worth a mention. If you do not understand the mechanics and the importance of weapon selection, a screen full of enemies will kill you instantly. Bangai-O Spirits is particularly cruel, with a maniacal laugh accompanying the game over screen.
@16:10 - nice reference to when Giles did his "one per list"! Not sure if this was mentioned in previous list but The Immortal on the Mega Drive and insta-death floors. If you didn't use a device to indicate a safe route through a room, a big worm would appear and kill you instanlty.
I feel you... While I much preferred Dungeons and Dragons... Heck, Still do... I got very invested in Warhammer 40K - I fell out of the Hobby due to GW's poor planning when it came to updates... I think it was 3rd Edition where I desperately awaited the release of my Codex - I became a Beardy One and after being introduced to the Hobby opted to main Space Wolves - I always hated playing the "Most Popular" as it meant everyone was virtually fielding teh same Armies... I was being encouraged back then to play either Chaos, Blood Angels or Orcs... But EVERYONE PLAYED CHAOS, BLOOD ANGELS OR ORCS!!! I came to love their Lore, Their Style, Their Unorthodox "Aesthetic" ... Only one other Army had me as enamoured, due to my love of ALIENS... The Tyranids... Also, My Mortal Enemy as Space Wolves love getting in close, NOT GOOD when Fighting Tyranids! Anyway - I waited... And Waited, and waited... And by the time they FINALLY RELEASED The Space Wolves Codex... They announced 4th Edition was being created! Again, I waited as 4th edition rolled out... And again, My Codex was one of teh LAST released when they announced 5th edition! At least with 5th Edition, The Space Wolves Codex was one of the FIRST out of the gate... But by that time prices had spiked so high... I could not afford to continue! And now they have Primaris Marines... My Army is DESPRETALY OUT OF DATE! It hurts as I love the hobby... Sadly, Trying to get the Management of GW to see sense - Customer Retention is more profitable than "Continued Growth" is something we will NEVER be able to get them to understand!

My brain always goes to X-Men 2 The Clone Wars. It doesn't kill you exactly. But drops you as a random character immediately into game play. No title screen just hey start playing. Not sure of the controls well learn quick because just to the right is a tank robot that fires missiles at you immediately. I love that it does this. Guess they had to 1up themselves from the previous game where you had to press reset on the console mid game. No save spot & not sure it would work you risk it, just to find out that is what you were meant to do. Both games causing trust issues for thousands in the 90's. I miss those days
I used to stick around in that first level of Warsong because of a cheesy trick could do by using troops to finish off generals for good experience. You wanted to upgrade your generals as fast as you could but there was no real way to grind exp, so anything you could get the better.
I tried playing Battlefield 4 once. I kept getting taken out by a sniper right at the start of the first campaign mission. After the 5th attempt, I decided these FPSs weren't really my thing.
I love the shadow hearts games! I keep hoping the trilogy will come to psn classics catalog. I still have my ps2 to be able to still play these and I mention them every chance I can
Strange thing to bring up, but there are a large number of incidents where people smear their feces in public washrooms on the wall, sink, mirror, etc. I know of 5 isolated incidents in my hometown and my current town. I can't help but wonder what the cause is. Mental illness, drugs, or maybe anger. Who can say?
God, the Shadow Hearts games were so good, even From The New World. Covenant was probably the best balance of goofiness and horror, but the first one's more straight-up horror vibe was fantastic, and so rare in the genre. Koudelka, while not exactly good mechanically, was still a hell of an experience, and both are definitely worth mentioning whenever possible. You also might want to look into Penny Blood if you haven't yet, it's being worked on specifically as a spiritual successor. Also, if you missed out on Langrisser/Warsong back in the day, consider checking out the remake for modern hardware. As a bonus, it comes packaged with the sequel. Both are kind of simple SRPGs by modern standards, but still worth playing, and the route branching is a really cool hook.

I'm going to sound like a stereotype, but I have to comment about Jules' "concealed carry" joke. The overwhelming majority of people who actually do carry weapons are calm, rational folks who will shrug off most insults without a second thought- because we understand the responsibilities inherent in the weapons we carry.
