unfortunately another season ending problem with the frankenstein overbuilt 8v Volvo head. Car was running GREAT on the new cam, pulled the valve cover to check lash and advance timing a bit and found the cam followers/buckets loose in the bore.
Have been running Supertech buckets with a OAH of 26mm, stock is 30mm. Had been getting away with this until I went to the reduced base circle cam allowing the buckets to come too far out. Oversight on my part, as well as the machine shop.. frustrating but a good learning experience! Glad to have found it before it caused any issues.
The bores will need to be opened up to 37.5-38mm dia. and run with a 35mm tall bucket. I need a post height of 4-5mm... I have not been able to find something that fits. Please let me know if you have a lead! In the meantime I am now working on a replacement/backup head from a Swedish builder.
