Today I'm answering more of YOUR questions on the VW California T6.1 and the VW Grand California that you've left for me in the comments of my recent videos!
There were some amazing questions such as how to manually lower the California roof (we wouldn't recommend it, but there is a way to do it in an emergency), what happens to waste water on the Grand Cali and California models, and more!

thank you chris for another great vid. what is the weight limit on the roof mechanism if I fit a roof rack with box please?........ if you ever feel like doing a external accessory vid on bike rack ect it would be appreciated

Would still love to see a fifth seat video, including making more room for it by removing the rear shelf for non camping trips

Definitely planning this video, just need a California to come in with the fifth seat in it - it's not something we would order for stock vehicles.

Hi Chris. Thank you for your informative videos. Please may I ask at dealerships where do you connect the negative clamp of the CTEK type battery chargers. I understand that connecting directly to the negative pole on the battery is not recommended due to the Cali BMS. Is there a specific connection point ? thank you

Hi Chris David here. My question is, would you suggest having a having a very small electric heater, maybe a 60 watt greenhouse type, connected, whilst the van is at home during the winter months bearing in mind there is so many electronics and computers onboard.

I’d suggest thats not ideal and unnecessary. the only issue I’d expect is if you have any damp ingress, or retained damp from a wet camp. If thats your concern then I’d recommend running a small dehumidifier in the van overnight every so often is a better use of power.

is there a guage or dial anywhere that tells you how much gas you've got left? Or do you find out its empty in the middle of cooking dinner?

Pam Ray in the middle of cooking dinner or boiling water ;-) what you can do is to weight the bottle from time to time

@@Kabdufbsbfk thanks. Is it easy to left the bottle out though? I'm not especially strong and it looks like the tank is in quite a tight spot to get at? Any idea how many hours it would supply one burner?

Hi Pam, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. There's no dial / gauge in the vehicle however, depending on which gas bottle you have, there may be a small gauge on the bottle itself. Alternatively, as Benedikt says you can weigh the bottle. As a rule of thumb, if it's quite heavy then it likely has a lot of gas left in it, it will get a lot lighter as it gets close to being empty. It may be worth asking your gas bottle supplier to let you have a feel of how heavy a full and empty bottle is so that you have some idea of what to expect. I hope that helps!

@@pamray2029 just for your info: full = 6.75kg (incl. valve), empty = 4.00kg So you don’t have to be strong ;-) It’s easy to access.

I got the child safety net on my 6.1 replaced by a wider model, and now it fits. So VW already has a solution.

Quick question - do the door mirrors fold in when the vehicle is locked?

If you have the folding door mirrors as an option, yes! Keep an eye out for our next couple of Q&A videos - I'll show you how to make sure it's turned on.

@@CaliforniaChris Great! The recent video on delivery times and change of engines was especially interesting. Although ordering my van on 23rd September, Ive been told the preliminary build date is week 6 2021 which means the new engine i assume. Thanks for all the great videos - they are keeping me going in my wait for the Cali .
