The most beautiful music 🎶 in the world played and explained by passionate Pianist. Thank you so much for that and great inspiration to learn playing this way. Hopefully 🙏 Best !!! Dariusz.
Wonderful! You play just as dreamily as Bill Evans, even when you´re breaking it down. How lucky we are to have the priveledge of your excellent classes! Such a romantic style of playing you have. Thank you very much.
Very nice chord movement, Kent. Even the simplified version. I used to think that Bill had a different kind of piano -- one with extra notes that were missing from my keyboard. It seems you too have those "extra keys". My wife and lived in the SF Bay area in the 1970s and 1980s, and we were able to see Bill play at the Douglas beach house when they made that recording titled Half Moon Bay. We went to hear Bill and his trios many times. In September of 1980 we drove up to North Beach to see Airto and his wife, Flora Purim perform at the Keystone. What a wild, rhythmic show it was, and we enjoyed her singing very much. The thing is, the Bill Evans Trio was also featured that month. I was again a student at the time, and we just couldn't afford to go twice. So we made the choice to see the Brazilians. I still regret that decision. The following week, Bill made his final performances. As you know, he died in a NY hospital at the end of the month of hepatic artery disease,a condition that took over 40 jazz musicians, according to a study by a Canadian gastroenterologist a maybe 20 years ago. Thanks for your generous programming, Kent. Best wishes.
Hello Kent, I´m from spain and bill evan´s music is the reason I play the piano and learned english. please never stop doing this videos, I learn a lot from you, greetings from madrid, spain
Kent, you are so inspirational. I’m a music teacher and I so admire your method of modeling and explaining, which is always so concise. One of my favorite things to teach is Lead Sheet work. And you Sir, are the master at that. I wish I could study with you. Thanks again for you brilliance.
Hi Ricardo, a million thanks for telling me. It's always very gratifying to me to hear from music teachers. I'm so glad to contribute some knowledge to those who teach....much admiration and best wishes.
Great video, Kent! Thanks for all your work: I've improved so much over the past two years since I started playing jazz piano by watching your videos and working on the ideas you discuss! Invaluable knowledge!
Extraordinary video Kent..everytime you explain the Bill Evan's sound it is musically contagious.. you are such an awesome teacher & I can tell you inherited much knowledge from that genius...😎😘👍
Thank you very much for sharing your technical knowledge about Bill Evans, one of the greatest pianists of all time. Especially for his simplicity and effectiveness in creating diverse colours in jazz music. It is a pleasure to watch you teach and for that I thank you for your willingness and generosity to us, your faithful followers. Thank you Kent Hewitt, my friend, have a great time with the family.
This is a goldmine. So many sweet progressions and you give great explanations. I will spend time on this one 😉 The visuals help a lot as well. Many thanks Kent for sharing your knowledge to the world of jazz pianists! Hopefully jazz will never die thanks to people like you!
A SUBSCRIBER'S BOOK ENDORSEMENT (now on sale)- "Mootrevo" ...People, I’ve been using Kent’s book every day for over a year, and it’s a work of art. If you like Kent’s playing and the way he explains jazz and music harmony, and the songs he chooses as examples... then RUN, don’t walk to Kent’s website and get this book. He IS far too modest about this amazing jazz workbook he has created. It is simply the best I have ever used, and I’ve tried a lot of them. It has improved my playing and understanding of jazz theory tremendously. I can’t imagine any student of jazz piano and/or jazz harmonic theory not liking this book. It’s simply that good. It’s fun. It’s straight forward. And unlike so many other jazz books, it’s not boring!!
Hi Kent, This is really very good. Almost sounds like a bit of "John Horler" (who was also very much influenced by Bill Evans) much better than I can do in terms of playing but I understand the theory and I keep going with the practice. Great stuff!!!
@@KentHewittpiano88 Technical is not a problem for me. It’s been my vocation for the past 3 decades! :) I’m familiar with what OBS studio is. I’ll check out Chordie, that’s the one I was wondering about. Thank you!
Chordie, OBS studio, Band in a Box, Sibelius. All software is complex and time consuming to learn...you need a lot of tech talent and perseverance..... which has helped me. I could teach a course now.
