Your truck's top looked as if it might have been from a Canadian M37, but those were steel and were flat without grooves. We would stand on the roof regularly to camouflage the truck and in that process would dent them badly. The way to get the dents out was to lie on your back on the passengers' side and push out the dent with your booted feet (likely the same feet that put the dents there in the first place). Kick as necessary until you have the necessary headroom.
Steve I’ve told you before I love this truck, it’s my favorite off road wrecker and I know about the other major ones. I’ve watched every video on this truck, I don’t think there’s much this truck needs but lockers is about the only thing I’d put on it.
Outstanding truck. IMHO, You REALLY need to mount the OLD beacon to maintain the look. It may even work better. I understand the tree branch clearance thing, but you can build an 8x cage to keep the dome of the beacon safe from tree branches, etc. Also, add couple of classic spot lights. They would add to the look as well as to the functionality.
I think it is good to know how much it weighs for the reasons you stated. Perhaps you could use a weighbridge to compare the readings? I think the new beacon is a great replacement for the old one, not too modern that it looks out of place on an old truck. Looking forward to the next job on this truck Steve. 👍👍
Some nice enhancements to the useability of the truck I was thinking that you and the "Utah Gang" should get together and do a project; the combined total of expertise, tools, experience, etc, would guarantee an awesome result. Anyway, belated Happy Christmas to you and yours, and best wishes for the new year..
Remember to sign up fore the Wrecker Games and i would mount the old lights again and make some steel deflectors to the branches so old lights don´t get destroyed.. becaus.. let´s face it .. the led... naaaa
