No this is not a copy of the cover recently made by Shane MacGowan and friends to help Haiti, this is a complete coincidence. Morgan, together with drummer Samm Bennett and guitarist Ken Shima, was invited to play music at PechaKucha night for Haiti in Tokyo on February 20th. As the event lengthened and more music was needed, the band started to jam. Off the top of his head, and never having sung it before, Morgan suddenly went into "I Put A Spell On You". He couldn't remember all the words so he winged it. Samm took over on vocals for a while, followed by blinding guitar and keyboard solos and a whacky ending. Friend Robbie Swinnerton video'd the song nicely but just missed the opening line. It's a powerful freeform take on this classic song by Screaming Jay Hawkins.
See the following websites and please buy Shane & Co.'s brilliant version, or donate to Haiti via PechaKucha if you feel like it!
