he's one of the coolest visual drummers ive seen. I saw him at a local club in Minneapolis. He stared at the ceiling and flipped a stick about 50ft in the air, just short of the ceiling and caught it, not loosing any of the groove. I love how he switches angles with his arms.
He’s one of the biggest inspirations and influences on how I play, intense all the way. Like he says “ every sevendust concert is like a 40mph car crash for 120 mins
suffocate is the song i saw them at austins saloon in libertyville may 13th and they played this song dude travis barker is a good drummer but this guy is fucking phenomenal, flawless, and marvelous and a cool ass mother fucking person as well. Sevendust is the greatest band.
this is one of my favorite drum videos! playing my favorite Sevendust song :D I love his style along with Nick Oshiro's and Vinnie Paul's...I hate how everyone thinks it's all about speed...well, it's not, it's about style and this man's got his own great style
Sevendust Rocks!!! And Morgan kicks ass! He has such style in is playing. He beats the SHIT out of 'em. Like they owe him money! Great band, Great drummer, Great style, Great showman!!
one of the most amazing drummers i've ever seen..if you haven't seen sevendust live..you don't know what your missing.. you will never look at your kit the same way again..
I like he how alternates where his arm swings down from during the snare hits...From the right side of his head then the left side...Great drummer, great band
this guy is fucking amazing sevendust best band out there period have always stayed true to what they are doing hence changing labels from tvt to winedark and now 7bros and asylum they are fucking great and what an amazing drummer holy shit
sevendust is my favorite hands down i have listened to everything and i mean everything and they are my absolute favorite they are a mix of everything and their lyrics are sweet and have meaning and they are talented as hell and write all their own shit they are amazing hands down, plus fucking cool guys.
im a fucking huge fan of sevendust especially morgan rose. he is an awesome drummer and he is not ugly. he is the most versitile drummer i have ever heard in the last 10 years. so dont fuck with a sevendust or morgan rose fan. jimmie
how anyone could prefer Godsmack over Sevendust is insanity. Sevendust is one of the most overlooked bands on this planet. They are the perfect combination of Heavy, Melody, Technical, and Passionate. Godsmack... PLEASE
zack o mac has read up on him fucking love that man awesome comment he did win that award and he is rated in the top 100 drummers of ALL TIME so kids that put dumb comments up about someone why dont u listen and go to a show and get a cd and do some research on him first the guy is phenomenal on the drums thank u for that comment that was sweet man thanks fucking god
he is under rated as a musician and a drummer, hey its cool with me to be a hardcore 7dust fan and have them float under the radar, they should be a lot more famous than they are though they kick total ass
You know what.. I think you guys should shut up and just look at the passion that this drummer has.. morgan rose is such a cool drummer to be inspired!! and he can play music andnot just do boring stuff like all those "technique freaks" do. Ofcourse technique is important and all I agree also! but hey!! the music comes first! and you can tell from morgans face on this video that he's having a blast! So just respect him!
I just went to a Sevendust concert last night and he beats the shit out of his drums hahaha. At one point he was just smacking his snare as hard as he could letting it fly to the ceiling hahah. He puts on a good show. I swear he went through about 50 drum sticks though.
Just watched a video on Bobby Jarzombek. The dude does rock the kit. My only take would be that he seems to be the Paul Gilbert of drummers. "Technically" nobody can touch him, but if you watch any of Paul Gilbert's solos... they are dry, there doesn't seem to be feeling there. Not a knock on Bobby, every player has their style and he has mastered his. VERY technically acurate.
He's definitely got an unorthodox play style...I mean, he flails around more than Andrew W.K., but he really gets the job done. Not to mention he does vocals while playing, and he does both flawlessly.
I'm pretty sure it's the other way around. Feel free to link me to a video that shows me something Shannon Larkin has done that everyone else hasn't. Thanks. :)
Well for one, he is in time which is really all you need in the type of band Sevendust is. But, Morgan Rose is one of the best hard rock drummers out there because he uses a variety of beats and accents with the cymbals. Oh and I am NOT saying he is the best, at all. hahahaha
Number 1, he's using wrist techiniques and flash that make it seem as if he's using more force than he actually is, and 2 he uses Z customs, which are very thick cymbals to begin with, not to mention I think his smallest crash is a19 inch lol, so he can afford to whack em' good.
@xXiCeDProductionsXx i like it should be morgan rose then chad szeliga then scott phillips.i love all of em.ad seen em all live.thats why i think that.plus ive watched morgan play for years.
@spikeman23 yup...breaking ANY cymbal is grounds for re-evaluating playing technique and possibly reconsidering another instrument. The shits too expensive to be breaking cymbals all the time.
Morgan is a much more technically sound drummer than Shannon is imo. I even met Shannon. I met the whole band and I prefer Sevendust over Godsmack. lol
ggamerdude, If I had the possibility, I'd do it. I play drums occasionally, for fun. But my main thing is the bass guitar, I teach it also. As soon as I have something to show, I'll make a video. But I don't like just exposing myself here for nothing. Don't take it personal, enjoy Sevendust, but as I said, what he plays here is really total beginner style, maybe he can play other things too, I don't know...ask a drummer about this.
well they serve their own purpose you dont always want that 'thin dry washy' tone. for certain songs you need a bright harsh sound that really cuts and doesnt get lost in the mix of a band. i use A customs as well, but for a completely diff. purpose then my z customs. the ppl that DO break z customs are absolutely abusive
@TheChiFlows Theres not really a way to hold your sticks wrong. You know, SOME people actually like to have fun on a set, instead of looking bored and hardly moving around. I break a drumstick at least twice, if not once a week. And I damn well know I know how play my drum set properly. I mean I don't hit as hard as Morgan, but still...
by your comments it is odvious that you listen to a small percent of the music that is out there. i have been playing for about 35 years and have a BA in music from berlee and i also know what i am talking about. i have seen kids in high school that blow him away. so it is not a question of me playing (and i know i do) better as you stated, it is a question does he inspire me and the answer is yes. he does inspire me to not play like him.
that's his style to make it look as if he beating the crap of the drumset, if you notice the cymbals dont move as they would if you hit them with full force. Not everyone plays drums the same way.
LOL! U all make me laugh, they are amazing. They are not that well known becouse they do their music alittle different. But Morgan is one of teh best fuckin drummers. He has fun while playin, keeps a damn good beat, and is just fun.
