I always loved that Dr. Carter would have MSU Choir perform Gospel music. And Ernest was my first counter tenor that I had ever heard, live. Simply wonderful.
This is also Darin's arrangment. He said he created this with Ernie's voice in mind. This concert is from May 1990, and while you can't see it, the audience was going off.
Never ever ever gets old ......I remember PBS was running this concert 20yrs ago. Can't believe Ernie is no longer with us - but alas, God continues to have his own way.
Yup, I remember this concert (Im inthe top row in the middle alto section LOSIN IT as ERNIE TEARS THIS SONG UP..as the altos song "Mold me, make me...") I this was one of my best college memories. I miss Dr. Carter and Ernie very much!
yes Ernie is tearing it up. I miss him so much especially when listening to him sing. I had the privilege of singing with him every Sunday. Those were the young and good old days.
i don't remember this concert, but i was blessed to be with Ernest when he directed the LINCOLN UNIVERSITY GOSPEL CHOIR in PENNSYLVANIA. There was a recording under his direction. It was a blessing and so many people received the lord from just being in the choir. The spirit would move in rehearsals. I love and appreciate my experience. Hearing his voice just brings back so many memories. Praise the Lord for him... e
If anybody ever sung, or who was ever taught underneath dr. Carter leadership, knows that he wasn't the one to play with. My first time that I wasn't following his directions, didn't go that good, he bang his piano and yelled at me until I perfected what he wanted, he was so mean; however it paid off, and now I'm writing music, and practicing the piano, just like him. Thank you dr. Carter, see you soon.
to God be the Glory, Yes Ernie was a great man, real teacher, deliverer of the word, and when your annointed and not a show off the Lord will give you more than what you need, not just a man but a saved man, and people stop posting negative things about people, the word says ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of GOD not you But God. and on that note be blessed and repent everyone of you for the will of the Lord is at hand. listen to the message, MOLD ME, but yyou need to be still.
Absolutely outstanding classic performance of the Morgan State University Choir ft. Ernest Saunders. His versatility and vocal range was simply beautiful. Dr. Carter was one of a kind and so was Ernest. God bless their memory.
I love this arrangement. You should had heard Ernie on Wilmington Chester Mass Choir Cds' on the song he had lead "We've Come to Praise The Lord". He had really sang that song with power.
yup...itz Darrin..lol we called him Schroder ( from the Peanuts) because he was ALWAYS in front of the piano back in those days. I could walk down the hall on campus in the Arts bldg( Old Murphy bldg) and I knew Darrin's playing from the other pianists practicing. Excellent choir mate! ( He also sang a song with us "Daniel"(Servant of the LORD) I dont know if it can be found.
The pianist stole the show. He made a simple song more enjoyable. What happened to the legitimate black virtuosos like this guy. These kids today can't read (music), have no technique, and fake their way around the keyboard.
