They chose Morissette to sing this song because they know that she can give justice to it. It doesn't really matter whoever sings better. This performance itself proves that she is one of the best singers of our generation.

To perform this song after Ms. Regine is really a big risk. But Mr. C gave it to Mori that means he sees a potential and a talent. Let's give it to Mori. She did well and gave justice to the song.
This song is one if not the most difficult OPM song to perform, becuase for it to be performed perfectly you have to understand its message. One thing that most of the singers today is setting aside.... interpreting and understanding the song, delivering its message to the listeners. With this performance I suddenly became a Fan! way to go Morisette :)

If you're 18 and you try to sing songs popularized by Regine etc, expect that you will surely be compared to the original singer's version. You may not be able to sing it like they did but if you sing it enough to intimidate the original singer's die-hard fans, that means you have a lot of potential. Regine is a diamond (irreplaceable) but let us not deny the fact that Morisette has the potential to be a big star in the industry. Kudos to Morissette! I know our Songbird is proud of you.

I could hear a Regine's version on how Morissette interpreted the song. But, Morissette never fail to sing this song in her own way suave way,somehow. It was still superb with great breathing control and full of emotion. I could tell, this is still so clean and beautiful rendition of this song I heard so far after Miss Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.

What a stupendous and hair-raising performance of Morissette who sang this song with grace, precision, and emotion. She truly gave out her full vocal agility as she rendered this as her own version. I don't see what has to do with this performance and compare it to other singers who as well gave justice to this very epic and soulful composition by Cayabyab. In the art of singing, singers are unique because of their different vocal folds and that doesn't give hiatus to the superior. If you interpret it in your own way, it is yours regardless if it has the same musical arrangement. Just saying.
Infer naman kay Mori, sa kanya talaga binigay at inalok ang pinaka-challenging piece and probably the highlight number of Musicman at 60 concert. Such tough shoes to fill, but she delivered. Not as perfect and flawless as Regine's but then again pa-Diyos na sa ka-perpektuhan yung kay Regine that anyone will always say something to somebody who replicates that iconic performance. The important thing is Mori delivered well here.
Morisette sang this beautifully, but I agree Regine's version touches your heart, not just her singing, but her facial expression matches the song perfectly...the longing, hoping...I felt it, it was simply perfect overall for me. Not because Regine's version is more heartfelt, that Mori's version is less impressive...people (especially Pinoy fans) should realize that not because one is a great/fantastic singer that he or she can cover all the music genre equally, lucky for those who can, I think Charice is one person who can transcends those genre without much of trouble transitioning. That is why we don't hear Beyonce' for example tackle Broadway or the Classics because her voice simply doesn't match it, it doesn't mean she's a bad singer. Mori is still young, as she matures she'll figure out how to sing songs like this much better....she still did amazing here, but there is always room for improvement thankfully.
My take on this? Mori's rendition is great. She still has her style though, we can't deny that. However, the song deserves solemnity, justice and grace... She was able to execute grace and give justice to the songs. Maybe I am just looking for a more seemless build-up and smooth hit on the high notes. Yung hindi kailangan manggigil since the song is like asking, "please..." On the other hand, I watched RVA's rendition. There I found the elements I was looking for. Yung hindi nya kailangan ang gigil to hit the high notes. The build up was excellent kasi present yung appropriate dynamics. The two ladies did well. But I will give this still kay RVA since she even gave me more than what I was looking for - emotions, story, the feel of "maybe sometime, somewhere, we could show them all what we really have for each other..." Kumbaga sa adobo, Mori's adobo is fine. But RVA's adobo has a lot to say...
'Am a bit worried dun sa pag grawl nya dahil di kailngan nung song yung growling, may mga kanta na binabagayan yung pag growl but not in this song. anyway nice take, but still I loved RVA's rendition, di parin yun mapapantayan. this is not about on how the song was arrange because obviously this is Ryan cayabcayab's arrangement. We cant blame Morissette, if she sang it with RVs version. . i heard other versions of this song, but this version is absolutely perfect.
jp japes I agree! Regine's version is very effortless and natural. Not forcing her voice too much. Morisette's belt notes are lil bit shaky at my bwelo unlike Regine all notes comes out natural.
May mga di pa rin naiimpress dito? Granted, si Regine syempre eto yung mga forte nya talaga kantahin and legend na sya talaga. Pero you have to be impressed with Mowie. This is a hard song and I don't think there is anybody right now that would be able to sing this as close to Regine's version. Others may or can reach the high notes but if we talk about control...Mowie has a lot of potential and it's one of her strengths. She's the heir apparent to Regine's throne. :)
morissette did this on her own style kaya hindi naman talaga magiging pareho ng intensity or whatever with regine. both versions are good. sa tastes na lang ng tao magkakatalo, depende sa inyo kung sino yung mas type niyo ang interpretation. but for me, both of them did well. nagkakaiba lang sa emotions kasi magkaiba naman ang experience sa buhay nung dalawa. si regine medyo mature na, madami nang paghuhugutan. si morissette, bata pa, madami pang mararanasan. so they tried their best to sing it on the emotions that they have.
If you close your eyes, you'd almost think this was Regine Velasquez. I literally felt like the audio is from Regine's video :) Broadway/musical genres aren't Morissette's forté but this was INCREDIBLE!!

That became huge hits. -Box Office Queen -Platinum Awards -Sold out record breaking concerts -International Recognitions All that for a cover. I'll throw that song cover for all of it. Sabi nga nila you can't have it all. So sarah can't have it all. But among all else, what does she have? Humility and Success. No one could ever have that just how she got it.

both versions are good, but for me , I prefer Regine's version. mas dynamic ung ke Regine at mas may feelings. Siguro bata pa kasi si Mori kaya need nya pa ng experience sa pag-ibig/heartache etc.

i thought no one can come close to Regine's version but oh boy!!! she sang this song really great... superb performance! Regine is the best..especially the laat part yun yung malakas nyang hatak...I love mori too but here I understand her career is just started here...hopefully she has new version of this song especially today that her voice is more powerful and trained...
the only difference is Mori's emotions are not yet matured and doesn't resonate with her eyes... It's about accepting that you won't be with the person you love and the song is like a desperate plea to destiny to have you meet in the future and Mori is smiling. She does that often... smiling while singing a sad song before. though she gets the voice, Regine's was very emotional.

Regine sang with ease, finesse, story-telling, profound emotional, natural speaking voice.... As in iba talaga. But mori will develop more. Just dont oversing the song to impress.
