Wonderful reaction Liza! I think it's important to note that Morissette is still an "indie-artist". Everything that you see and hear is decided on by Morissette and her husband (Dave is the Cinematographer/Director). Morissette like many great artists is also learning to dive deeper into the emotional life of her songs. She returns to a particular piece of music and accesses inner life and dives deeper brings new meaning to her art. I think Morissette is a generational singer. I look forward to more reactions of this wonderful artist!!!
What is amazing to me is her ability to be totally oblivious to everything outside of her performance. She almost always is in character of the song. Nothing else matters except her story-telling. But, it is almost always exhausting watching her. She will soar, glide, and come back down and take you with her. It is always emotionally charged, and you ride her emotions. 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️

Actually Morisette dropped her last name when she started becoming more famous. A lot of Filipino artists is a fan of Bruno. Morisette is one of them. There is so much to see in her live performances. I didn't notice if you reacted to her Disney Night of Wonders performance with Christian Bautista. I also like how you noticed even the small details, like the ughs and ahs (Michael Jackson style), the vocal cries and growls, and the confidence Mori exudes, and the stage presence, plus having fun while doing what she does best. I agree with you, whenever Mori makes a cover, she makes it her own, with her own voice and style. She is not just copying or mimicking the original artist, as most others do in trying to make covers. But she is not grabbing it from the original artist, but shows us her rendition, that "this is how this song will sound if I was the original artist or if it was in my album" kind sort of thing. 🥰👍 She has just recently performed in the "David Foster and Friends" concert series in the Philippines on March 21st to 26th, from Day One until Day Six, where she sang "Never Enough" and "Bodyguard Medley" where David Foster, the legendary music producer, composer and songwriter, was really impressed with her. Ooh, there was a Christmas special in the Philippines ( I don't know what network it was in the Philippines) where Morissette joined 4th Impact in singing their new single "Distorted" (4th Impact's US Debut single). I'm trying to find a good video of it, but no luck so far.
For Billboards or American Music Awards, IMO it wouldn't be insulting to the original singer if the cover came out a year later if the new singer made it their own&better. Remember with the 90s movie ConAir soundtrack song "How Do I Live With Out You" sang both by Trisha Yearwood and Leann Rimes. That was very awkward during the awards which got nominated since both singers' version came out the same year but one wasn't used in the movie. Trisha was used in the soundtrack&won maybe by seniority? Leann Rimes was a rising teen star country singer and looked like she was crying when she lost. Trisha was over some years ahead of her in the music industry. So for future recognition, in respect&honor of the original singer for making one of their songs as their own version by new cover singers, it should be done a year later. It should be a new award category as Best New Remix/Owned Song Award and you can bet a lot of Filipino singers would be nominated for this category. Morisette's Bruno Mars Evolution Medley and GiGi's version of UnHoly and several other songs should be recognized as a ReMix version of the original song that it might as well be considered "NEW". Recently Dreams by Fleetwood Mac rose thru the charts again and might had been recognized if it wasn't some decades old already.
