Thank You Rob for your presence here on YT and all that you do here (entertain, teach, and you set an example of how to honor : music, technique, stringed instruments and evens strings. As I listen to you I feel calmed just from your respectful approach to teaching and soft voice ( a similar effect I think provoked my the late great Bob Ross in teaching painting). What really draws me is your Love of music and Love of Sound which comes from a very intimate relationship with both and you choose to express this with stringed instruments ... which happens to be my favorite instruments ...you respect them all and their uniqueness. With your gracious form of teaching you are helping to keep alive so many forms of expression ... I see you as a very extraordinary man, yet humble. You help to make the world a bit better with every video. Have a Beautiful day Dear Sir, Bev Love & Peace to All
@@RobMacKillop1 I have woeful memories of the wind blowing down Edinburgh chimneys(that wind- all the way from Russia !) sounds like you have the best strategy. The exercise sounds wonderful for such a short piece, very harp like to play. Thanks again.
Thanks Rob....I second what Bev has said... you give a lot my friend. Looking forward to the future lessons.... you make the world a better place.... Thank you 😊 When gives from their heart the music starts...
This is great. I've been a fan of Oleg Timofeyev's recordings for a long time, and have been fascinated by the "parallel universe" of Russian guitar music, as well as stymied by the relative inacessibility of it. Time to dive in!
I don't own a Russian guitar, and don't really plan on obtaining one, but found this video fascinating to watch nonetheless. If only I had had a teacher such as yourself back in my younger days. ;)
Not only you are a great guitarist, but also a great pedagogue and researcher too. Thank you for make me look with fresh eyes the world of Russian guitar. I saw you tested both a Doff RGV (the "simil-romantic" one) and a Doff RGC (the “classical” one). Which one do you like best and think is the best to start a journey in this world? And how have you stringed the RGV? I don’t think that the nylon strings sold by Aquila Corde end with a ring. Thanks!
Thanks. Both review videos are with the stock strings. You can replace them with Aquila, tying a knot in the end when necessary. Both instruments are quite different. The Romantic one was designed for steel strings, but sounds nice with nylon, if quiet. The classical one is bigger overall, with a bigger sound. I don't have a favourite. Cheers, Rob
Кстати, в 60-х годах 20 века советская школа семиструнной гитары обозначение пальцев правой руки привела к мировому стандарту pima, а до этого они обозначались русскими буквами б у с п. В 19 веке с фантазией было видимо не очень😀

I have no idea why the ten-string guitar is mentioned on the title page, maybe the seven-string guitar is seen as an evolution of some ten-string guitar, but I have never heard of it before.
