Jeff Durbin, pastor of Apologia Church and host of Apologia Radio/TV, talked with a Mormon gentleman outside of the Mormon temple in Mesa, AZ, at the annual Easter Pageant.
The conversation, we believe, is very helpful in exposing the common tactics of evasion and smokescreening that Mormons typically engage in.

I grew up Mormon and God touched my wonderful father and he took us out of mormonism. they turned on us because we were a devout Mormon family for so long and so they feared my dad's questions and stood up in church and told everyone the were not allowed to even speak to us and to turn their backs if they saw us in public. my dad lost his CPA business and we lost every friend we ever had because they were all Mormon. my dad's father cut him out of his will and he lost out on 100 acres and $600,000. what is so sad about the Mormon religion is they will not hear the truth and are brainwashed. They put fear in the members by telling them they will be in trouble if they listen to anything that is anti Mormon. My dad disproved mormonism by researching their own history and books at the BYU library. what they did to my family is disgusting and I still get sick watching Mormons defend instead of listen to truth. Before my dad died he helped thousands leave the church by speaking and helping people online and in person. I owe everything to my father and I am saved because he loved us enough to go against his family and friends in the sake of saving us from damnation.

I have done hundreds of baptisms in the names of dead people as a young teenager. Looking back at all the demonic imagery in the temple I get sick. Then when I learned that they used to teach that Adam was God I realized my dad was amazing for getting us out. My dad used to tell us that when something is true and from God it never changes. it will be true yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Mormon doctrine has and is changing. If God is all knowing then he knew way back when the same as he knows the future. For goodness sake they used to teach that black people were cursed by Caine and that they would never hold the priesthood. Then God changed his mind and changed it and they now can hold the priesthood. I can honestly say that most Mormons do not know their own religion. I am so grateful for Jesus and the true Bible.

Katherine Woodrum - Thank-you for sharing your heartfelt story. God bless your father who stood in the gap and received the truth of the one and only Gospel and planted the seeds in the generations to come regarding your family lineage so that God may reap the harvest!. I love this story and I am so proud that he chose Jesus over everything. the thought of hearing God say to him "well done my good and faithful servant" amazing. God speed xx

*"they feared my dad's questions and stood up in church and told everyone the were not allowed to even speak to us and to turn their backs if they saw us in public."* " turn their backs if they saw us in public"??? Nice fairy tale. Maybe you should run that one up to Mother Goose. She'll get a kick out of it. The church _never_ tells us to turn our backs on someone if we see them in public. What the church does is encourage us to show love towards those who have left the church, for whatever reason.

Wow! Katherine that is such an amazing, inspiring and encouraging story!! God bless you and love and hugs to you and your family!! Wow. Praise Jesus!! The glory of our Lord revealed!! :) Your father was a TRUE servant of the Lord. He was the true church!!! You are all the true church of Jesus. What your dad lost in this earth He will have gained a thousand fold in Heaven. His treasures were certainly stored up in abundance in Heaven. Your dad's father may have cut him out of his will, but he was never cut out of the will of God. Jesus will never cut off your dad. Your father put Jesus first and completely repented of religion. That's all Jesus wants of us, to follow Him not man made religions such as Mormonism. This is why we must all love Jesus more than our fathers/mothers or sons/daughters or hubands/wives. Because if our loved ones choose not to follow Jesus then we can easily fall into the same pit of damnation they have fallen into. Jesus first, family second, religion ... well religion should just be given the old big heave ho, the big boot. Praise Jesus! He truly is the way, the truth, the life and the light of the world. We are His sheep, we are His church!!

Yesterday I ran into my first set of Mormon missionaries (don't see that a lot in Kentucky) and these videos helped me in speaking with them about the truth. While I have a long ways to go in answering their questions and statements, I was far more equipped after these types of videos and what I've learned from Dr. James White, too. Why'd anybody follow, possibly not even questioning, James White, Jeff on thee above video, thee other anti-Mormon Christians (self stamped Christians)?

You're kind of encouraged to investigate the Mormon persuasion on your own. As Mormons (LDS) are not afraid of HONEST SCRUTINY of their own doctrines. One can simply Google ''Book of Abraham debunks anti-LDS Lies You Tube''. ALL ANTI-BOOK OF ABRAHAM INFO DEBUNKED. Including that idiotic anti-Book of Abraham You Tube video from White.

That is so true! They are sweet people and a particular lady that I work with at my job is a wonderful lady with beautiful kids. Sadly, Mormons, unfortunately like some Christians, know too little of the Word or they reinterpret the amount that they know. Alma 38:9 "And now, my son, I have told you this that ye may learn wisdom, that ye may learn of me that there is no other way or means whereby man can be saved, only in and through Christ. Behold, he is the life and the light of the world. Behold, he is the word of truth and righteousness." Helaman 5:9 "O remember, remember, my sons, the words which king Benjamin spake unto his people; yea, remember that there is no other way nor means whereby man can be saved, only through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, who shall come; yea, remember that he cometh to redeem the world." I rest my case. The Book of Mormon presents Christ's atonement more plainly than even the Bible does.

Adolfo Talks i just read your comment 10 months after you posted. Your post caught my attention though. If you dont mind my asking is it normal for mormons to avoid direct conflict between the Holy Bible and the book of mormon? If so is this something that is taught in the church? I am genuinely asking this for information not to troll you or make fun of your answer. see about a year ago I went to a mormon church one time after being invited by mormons that knocked on my door. I did not believe what they were preaching but I still find the religion itself fascinating because I see a lot of smart kind people allowing this deception and I myself almost fell for it.

This video reminds me that it is so important to teach people critical thinking behind any and every belief that they have. Sadly, at the end of the day, many people can have great arguments laid out for them against what they believe and they still will not come closer to the truth. Now, I don't mean that any time that someone comes to me with a great argument against what I believe that I should automatically give in to their view, but I should take their view, truly study it, get to the foundations of it, see if there may be evidence for it, and see if I should change my viewpoint or worldview. Last point: although I loved this video, it is hard to have "long" conversation with someone about what they believe while being recorded. Thanks again to these guys for conversing with this Mormon brother.

Even if he gave you an answer you wouldn't accept it because you are so indoctrinated. Only God can reveal this answer to you. And when he does it will always line up with scripture. But if you don't trust the Bible and Gods ability to protect His word from mistranslation then why even use the Bible? I would say , very gently, that the teaching that the Bible is not the infallible word of God is the root of the great deception. But that's how satan works he makes you doubt what God said and then twists what He said....like he did to Eve...oldest trick in the book!

Let me start by saying, I'm a born-again Christian. Jesus Christ is Lord! The Mormon people I have worked with as a Police Officer and have encountered in life are the nicest people I have ever met! Now we know that Satan can come to us as an angel of light. Do not be deceived by Mormons and their false religion. But I do challenge born-again Christians to remember their testimony and how they act because people are watching us! There will be a lot of nice and kind Mormon people that will suffer in The Lake of Fire for eternity! And there will also be many born-again Christians who will spend eternity in Heaven whose reputations and testimony stunk while they were alive on earth. Thank you Jesus for saving a sinner like me and being striken by God the Father, suffering and dying on a cross in my place. Yet you did nothing wrong. You lived a sin-less life. Yet that's how much you loved me! Praise you Lord Jesus! Amen.

"anyone ever tell you you're squishy?" 😂😂😂 when he talked about how the doctrines are more like "mysteries" and then invited him to church reminded me of exactly how the members of the cult I left behave. When confronted with facts and questions they couldn't answer they would say, "just come and listen." They hope you will come and be so impressed with how friendly, moral and clean they are that you'll want to return. Then slowly, over time, the brain washing can take effect and you'll *feel* like it's the right church.

Wow!! I was just thinking this a few moments ago!!! COGNITIVE DISSONANCE is EXACTLY why Mormons will not turn to the truth. They know they are being deceived, they know their church isn't true but they don't want to lose their friends, their routines, their feel good General Conference sessions and Fireside meetings and Stake conferences and Ward dinners/functions/shows. So they kid themselves. They are self deceiving!! And as you say, their comeback, their defense is always "dissonance reduction". I love that term!! They try to play it down. Just brilliant Daniel!! Well done. God bless. Praise Jesus!!

They say Sola Fide because it was a common belief by Martin Luther that has been perpetuated for 500 years. Nobody believed in this belief prior to 500 years. If so, I would love to see proof. Scripture is ripe full of works. Faith and belief is like works in cooperation with love. Here are some passages: James 2-24 - "We see that a man is justified by works and not faith alone." Romans 2, 6-7 - Eternal life is a reward for good works... "God will repay each person according to what they have done.” To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life." Galatians 6, 7-9 - "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Matthew 12, 36-37 - "But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgement for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 25, 31-46 - "“When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.

Juan Rojas - Those who preach that works are not required....that only belief in Jesus is, have twisted your thinking. You MUST understand what the scriptures say about works/labor/fruits. I know that salvation comes from FAITH in Jesus' ransom. However, if you truly value what is written in the scriptures and read with an honest heart, you will see that your works/labor/fruits/actions/deeds are closely tied to your being judged faithful. Jesus said "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life, so that everyone believing in him may have everlasting life" (John 3:16) However, Jesus continued to discuss those who believe vs those that do not, and how they would be identified at: John 3:18-21 (American Sandard) "18 He that believeth on him is not judged: he that believeth not hath been judged already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, lest his works should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth the truth cometh to the light, that his works may be made manifest, that they have been wrought in God" He contrasted the difference between those that believe and those who do not. Those that do not believe, they DOETH evil WORKS. Those that believe DOETH THE TRUTH and his WORKS are manifest. We are judged or not judged by our works. So, to you "Christians" that think works, or labor, or whatever you want to call it, are not important....you better check yourself to be sure you are WALKING with the Lord. Jesus spoke many times about DOING the will of his father and he instructed his disciples to DO the will of his father. Look at Jesus warning about ones that believe in Christ, but are considered false prophets. Jesus explains how to identify them: Matt. 7:15-27 (NWT) "Be on the watch for the false prophets who come to you in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. 16 By their fruits you will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? 17 Likewise, every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, nor can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. 19 Every tree not producing fine fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Really, then, by their fruits you will recognize those men. 21 “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the Kingdom of the heavens, but only the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. 22 Many will say to me in that day: ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them: ‘I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness!’ 24 “Therefore, everyone who hears these sayings of mine and does them will be like a discreet man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain poured down and the floods came and the winds blew and lashed against that house, but it did not cave in, for it had been founded on the rock.26 Furthermore, everyone hearing these sayings of mine and not doing them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain poured down and the floods came and the winds blew and struck against that house, and it caved in, and its collapse was great.” What is the fine fruit that true believers would display? What is worthless fruit? The fruit is your actions and conduct. What did Jesus say about those HEARING his sayings? Those that DO them are favorable! Those NOT DOING them are worthless. The Apostle Paul continued to encourage the congregation with the same teachings of Jesus. Eph. 5:1-12 (NWT) "Therefore, become imitators of God, as beloved children, 2 and go on walking in love, just as the Christ also loved us and gave himself for us as an offering and a sacrifice, a sweet fragrance to God. 3 Let sexual immorality and every sort of uncleanness or greediness not even be mentioned among you, just as is proper for holy people; 4 neither shameful conduct nor foolish talking nor obscene jesting-things that are not befitting-but rather the giving of thanks. 5 For you know this, recognizing it for yourselves, that no sexually immoral person or unclean person or greedy person, which means being an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of the Christ and of God. 6 Let no man deceive you with empty words, for because of such things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore, do not be sharers with them; 8 for you were once darkness, but you are now light in connection with the Lord. Go on walking as children of light, 9 for the fruitage of the light consists of every sort of goodness and righteousness and truth. 10 Keep on making sure of what is acceptable to the Lord; 11 and stop sharing in the unfruitful works that belong to the darkness; rather, expose them for what they are. 12 For the things they do in secret are shameful even to mention." Notice that he used similar wording as Jesus....there would be ones trying to deceive with empty words and they would have bad fruitage. What were the empty words? A proclamation of belief in the Lord without the works (fruitage). In fact, those deceivers were attempting to persuade true believers into wicked works. He encouraged them to "KEEP making sure of what is acceptable to the Lord"! Notice what happens when a believer does not continue OBEDIENT to the Word. Heb 10:26 (NWT) "For if we practice sin willfully after having received the accurate knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice for sins left" Heb. 10:36 (NWT) "For you need endurance, so that after you have DONE THE WILL of God, you may receive the fulfillment of the promise." It is very clear how Jesus and Paul described a true Christian. They used terms like: The whole chapter 11 of Hebrews listed the men and women of Faith...AND the works that they displayed as true believers. So, if you are honest about your reading the scriptures, you cannot come to any other conclusion than "Faith without works is dead". I don't know about you, but I would not want to be deemed a part of the group Jesus disowns - those that call on his name...even believe in him, but practice sin and do not DO his will.

Gotta read the context fellers. All about context, don’t take bits and pieces and apply whatever you wanna apply it for. The Bible talks about plucking your eyes out if they offend you, other than one lady on the news don’t see very many people doing that. Take things in context and then apply it to the whole message of the Bible. Context context. Study study

Hey, that's me! Can we get a different camera angle next time? Under the chin is just so not flattering. Jeff is a nice guy, but you can't have a decent conversation with him. He tries to talk circles around you and back you into a corner with his questions (hence, the "squishy" talk). I wasn't about to have him put me in a box. Mormons believe in Christ. We believe He is our Savior and our God. We believe we are saved by grace. We're actually not that far away from Evangelicals and we could do a lot of good together if it wasn't for people like Jeff trying to tear us apart. There's a great book on what the actual differences are if you're interested, called "How Wide the Divide". I would love to have a conversation with any evangelical that wants to have an honest discussion. I didn't find Jeff to be genuine in that way because first of all, he didn't contact me like he said he would, and he didn't even respond when I tried to contact him on Facebook. Second, he uses quotes from 19th century church members to illustrate "what Mormons believe". That would be the equivalent of me berating Jeff with quotes from Tammy Faye Bakker to tell him about what he believes. Third, he interprets scripture one way and doesn't allow for any thoughtful discussion. His way or the highway. The scriptures are the word of God, but its obvious from all the different religions that there are different interpretations. And its just crazy talk to tell ME what the interpretation is of MY scripture (The Book of Mormon). Anywho, maybe Jeff and I can sit down and have hot chocolate sometime when he's not performing for the camera and we can have a real discussion. Until then, enjoy the show.

God cleared said there is no God before me or after me.. and all was said.. well thats not how I read that... its cleat. Theyre is NO other Gods before or after me, that what it says. The sad thing about this.. is we all get so offended when someone goes agaisnt our beliefs we end up making it about us, we need to really study the scripture like God told us to do... i was once stuck in a cult too, the jehovah witnesses.. and its when i actually opened my heart to truth is when God opened my eyes. People follow Joseph more than they follow Christ.. and that's our issue. I hope you really look into what Jeff was speaking about... just you and God.. God bless you.

Michael Court I really appreciate your willingness to have that conversation with Pastor Durbin and to not try to weasel your way out or walk away when it became uncomfortable. That really does take courage and takes a sense of conviction in what you believe, and I think it is admirable that you showed that bravery in the face of feeling probably quite a bit embarrassed and unprepared for such a conversation (I absolutely do not mean that in an offensive and rude way, to be clear -- I was just re-reading this comment and realize it could be taken that way.. please be aware that is not my intended message!) I know that honestly, I personally would probably feel the same way if approached even by a highly knowledgeable and prepared atheist who happened to also be filming our conversation! I'd imagine it would make me feel rather squeamish if they actually presented some relatively strong arguments that I wasn't adequately prepared for, having been caught off guard and not recently refreshed myself on relevant scriptures etc. I can imagine how it would be rather intimidating and difficult in your position to go up against someone who truly *_knows_* his Bible -- front, back, left, right, and center -- in such depth and detail that it is just etched into his memory and heart along with even great knowledge of such things as the very Greek language in which it was written. Most of us, even serious, devout believers, would by no means be so prepared on a moment's notice! I just want to commend and thank you for that bravery and willingness to delve into that conversation that I'm sure was the farthest thing from comfortable for you. I truly hope and pray right now that the Lord opens and softens your heart, that the seeds planted during this difficult conversation will find themselves in increasingly more fertile soil and in an increasingly more open, willing heart. I would strongly encourage you and urge you to consider and really delve into the basis of the arguments he was making, actually looking deeply into all of the scriptures he was quoting, and into all of the Mormon doctrines etc that he was quoting (quoting these Mormon books correctly, you will find.) Above all, I hope you realize that this conversation was entirely pursued out of LOVE for God and LOVE also for YOU -- I'm sure you can relate with the difficulty of confronting people with different beliefs and witnessing to them! It is far easier to go the route of pleasantries and stay away from the awkwardness and discomfort that goes along with evangelizing and spreading the Truth to those who believe differently. Please feel that love and try to understand why it truly IS the most loving thing to do to correct those who, in your firm belief, have been duped into thinking that they HAVE received salvation when in fact they have not and are headed on a path toward ultimate death and destruction rather than eternal light and life. May God bless you and work in your life to nurture and sprout the seeds that have been planted in you!

One thing that evangelical Christians need to understand about Mormons is that even as the guy in the video and others might consider challenges to their beliefs, it's not so easy for a Mormon to just 'give up' or 'hand over' their beliefs so easily, for them, it's the 'only gospel' they know and also community places such a huge role in Mormonism, even if one is convinced by your words, the church community and extended family is something that one may not be so easy to lay down, that's why as always we must always emphasis rather than them 'giving up their gospel,' emphasizing the beauty of the true Lord Jesus of the New Testament, the Only God and Only Savior who came down to earth to offer His life on the cross and how this love is stronger than the love they are now feeling from the Jesus they have been presented. Also, we need to be willing to love them and embrace them into our own church communities, understanding their may be a sense of alienation and exile from their former community if they leave the LDS Church.

There are numerous discourses from Mormon writers and speeches of leaders and prophets that are a matter of record. Some doctrine sounds outrageous to those outside of the LDS church but can also be puzzling to members of the LDS church. I've struggled with topics that Pastor Jeff mentions and many that he doesn't. For those raised from childhood within a church environment it's very difficult to break or even think independently from the body of the church. I can see this struggle with some of the mormons being approached by Pastor Jeff. I can see the internal debate with the common mormon church member that meets with Jeff on the sidewalk. Sometimes they are at a loss of words, hesitate to disagree with church interpretation rather than rely on their own reading and interpretation of scripture. Jeff asked one gentleman if they believe Christ created everything? I saw the struggle the hesitation to answer incorrectly. Sometimes this is just born from embarrassment of answering incorrectly at Sunday school, primary or seminary. Of course, the answer to Pastor Jeff's question is simple and straightforward...yes, Jesus is the creator of heaven and earth and everything therein. Many LDS members training is based on what others have written or said regarding a certain subject. There isn't always the most tolerance for opposing opinions. Similarly, members of the LDS church are like other congregants from other churches--there is a range of open mindedness--from narrow to broadminded. Hence much of Christianity's commitment to the faith is simply part of the cultural training of the religion or Christian denomination in which one is raised. I believe that's true across the board. I believe that religion in general can condition a child to grow up within the boundaries of the church's precepts. It can feel safe and comfortable. To be open minded to outside ideas can be frightening. Yet, I believe Christ's own ministry challenges conventional thought and wisdom as does the written word, which was frightening to the religious people at the time of Christ, especially when Christ would lean on the words of the ancient prophets. Hopefully, we can all feel secure in God's word as written in the Bible. This is the common ground for all the followers of Christ. Nevertheless, there can still be disputes among mainline Christians and evangelicals. I would dare say there are those who are not 100% compliant with the words of Augustine, Calvin, Luther, Sturgeon, Graham, Swindoll, Stanley, MacArthur or Dr. Jeremiah. And I dare say there are those who left Pastor Jeff's flock for his views, interpretations of scripture or treatment within his ministry. I would not reveal in those departing for another church but try to resolve any issue within Pastor Jeff's congregation. More than once have I heard about tragic situations within a church including the LDS church--sexual affairs among clergy and the lay people, squandering of church funds, false doctrine being preached, gossip and manipulation by church leaders. These are hurtful things that have plagued and will continue to happen as long as human beings are involved within the institutions. What tends to happen and is probably human nature we defend what we know and what we respect and what we love--even when we don't have all the answers. As is pointed out time after time when people confront Mormonism--members of the LDS faith tend to hide behind feelings, prayer and witness of the Holy Spirit that has testified to the truthfulness of their belief system. Often times the feelings and scripture don't align. Rather than study the subject and reach for scripture mormons tend to reach for commentary from church headquarters in Salt Lake City. In an effort to continue to be a defender of the faith sometimes the individual simply shuts down and rather than admit our lack of understanding we simply reject the possibility of another point of view even when a biblical passage is cited. I have spoken to more than one Christian who isn't able to defend their belief when I inquire about the reasons for their faith and belief in Jesus--sometimes the answer is sweet and plain--I prayed and Christ delivered me and I know he's my Savior. I'm left curious and wanting to know more and that' about as far as they can go. Everyone is not as prepared as Pastor Jeff. There's a reason why there are 80,000 Christian churches--we don't all see eye to eye. It seems to me that there has been disagreement within mainstream christianity itself. Indeed, I know Christians that change churches for disagreement of how one pastor interprets scripture or how they treat members of their flock. There are as many reasons for separation and someone starting a church as there are churches. The apostle Paul was challenged to keep the rank and file together throughout his ministry. Moreover, Paul and Peter we read in the Book of the Acts of the Apostles had varying views on the correct path for new Christian followers who were not Jewish. It's fair for Pastor Jeff to raise the issues of conflict within Mormon scripture as well as conflicting words of past church leaders. The record is there for public consumption to question, to challenge, to find consensus or to disagree. Again, it is very difficult for a mormon to not support every word that current or past church leaders have said for fear of reprisal. It's also fair for the mormon member to speculate, question, suggest, ideate, confirm, disagree or simply say...I don't know or I'm not sure or that's always perplexed me and I'm still searching and on the road to discovery for myself. Otherwise how will any of us discover the breadth, width, depth and height of all things and to know the love of Christ and to feel his fullness without being curious (Ephesians 3: 18-19, KJV). Again, I don't always agree with my Christian friends in their approach and understanding of biblical passages. Being raised LDS comes with particular challenges. It's not until we become of age or beyond that we start considering the truths of our faith and scripture and reconciling for ourselves. The Apostle Paul in his writings to the Romans and to those at Corinth has been so instrumental beyond any "mormon" teaching to help me be reconciled with Christ and my Heavenly Father. What's so confounding is that Paul's teachings are part of mormon doctrine and I long for my fellow mormons to embrace the truth of that doctrine. I would be remiss if I didn't state how mormon doctrine has witnessed Jesus for me. I cite the following passage from the Book of Mormon that captures the scene of a non-believer and a disciple of Jesus in the middle of their debate as found in Jacob 7, starting at verse 8-12: 8 But behold, the Lord God poured in his Spirit into my soul, insomuch that I did confound him in all his words. 9 And I said unto him: Deniest thou the Christ who shall come? And he said: If there should be a Christ, I would not deny him; but I know that there is no Christ, neither has been, nor ever will be. 10 And I said unto him: Believest thou the scriptures? And he said, Yea. 11 And I said unto him: Then ye do not understand them; for they truly testify of Christ. Behold, I say unto you that none of the prophets have written, nor prophesied, save they have spoken concerning this Christ. 12 And this is not all-it has been made manifest unto me, for I have heard and seen; and it also has been made manifest unto me by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, I know if there should be no atonement made all mankind must be lost. Christ centered, which is what keeps me here. There is a passage that Pastor Jeff refers to repeatedly when speaking with Mormons that I don't believe he truly understands and I'm not sure how well the passage is understood by mainstream mormons. It's found in 2 Nephi 25:23. Pastor Jeff makes the same mistake that most mormons make when reading this passage. Pastor Jeff begins the quote in the middle of the verse after the semicolon, "...we know that it is by grace we are saved, after all we can do." For years mormons and opposition alike have focused on the word do. There is a key to this Book of Mormon passage not unlike Paul's admonition for saints to work out your salvation with fear and trembling;" (Philippians 2;12, NASB). In the following verse Paul gives a short list of things to do. I don't take them as a replacement for grace or interpret that salvation is only achieved by my successful navigation of Pauls counsel. I take those to do's as the fruits of God's grace. Back to 2 Nephi 25:23. Paul's encouragement to "work out salvation" was followed by encouraging us to live Christ like behavior. In 2 Nephi 25:23 the encouragement comes in the opening clause of the verse: "For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and be reconciled to God;" This is the 'all we can do' that follows the clause being saved by grace. In this case, persuading our children and friends to believe in Christ and be reconciled to God defines the DO of the passage. This is in harmony with Paul's counsel in the New Testament. At times in my life I believed I was a "human doing" and that it was incumbent on me to do, to hustle, to earn my salvation. I have since learned that Jesus instructed me to come to him, rest, learn of him and that his yoke is sufficient for me. I can stop working to gain my salvation and focus on the work he did to save me. That's a lot more interesting than anything I could ever do. Lastly, where I do agree without exception with my Christian friends--"For in Him we live, move, and have our being..."(Acts 17:28). All that we have been, are and ever hope to be is because of the Man from Nazerath who came to save us from our sins--the Mighty Lion of Judah, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who bled and atoned for all humanity.

This Mormon is extremely nervous and unsure of what he believes. He is waving his hands and showing signs of uneasiness. He is being dismantled piece by piece by Pastor Jeff showing him the truth.

Well to start the Vatican changed the 10 commandments and also allows idol worship. It's paganism mixed with christianity. Mary worship is rampant in Catholicism. Great people but they are lead by false teachers.

That was frustrating to watch. I was a Mormon fpr 37 years and the teaching that God was once a man is a core belief. It's the whole reason people go to the temple. They believe that salvation is in different levels the highest being becoming a God.

C'mon Jeff, you're all about gotcha I watch a lot of your videos. Jeff is a modern day fire and brimstone preacher I remember back in the days in the mid 50's long before the internet when preachers would go to the common and preach fire and brimstone until they were blue in the face only today there's money to make particularly on Utube where Jeff makes plenty. I like the way Jeff uses his words like breaking down the walls between our communities, the guy is patient I know he's getting annoyed he's trying his best to be nice.
