Oh hey I just realized this makes sense lore-wise! Inklings wake up later than Octolings so it makes sense that 8 woke up sooner than the other two-even waking up at the crack of dawn.
@@level700giga8 it was a sunken scroll in splatoon 1. One of the major factors of the great turf war that served as the games background lore was that inklings have a difficult time getting up early and the Octarians they were fighting took advantage of that.
So many cute little details here! I love when she grabs her headphones, looks at them for a second, and then flips them over before putting them on. Tiny things like that really bring this to life and make her feel like a real person
To me, it feels like she's getting more and more adapted to the big city life of Inkopolis. Contemplating all the possibilities her new life has... and she's absolutely loving it.
Even though I'm several months off the mark, I just wanna appreciate all of the detail of this. 1. The animation is top-notch 2. all details are down to the smallest things 3. Breathing is animated very well 4. very natural movement 5. making sleep look natural with movement 6. the day continues as time passes. 7. lighting is pitch-perfect 8. characters look very realistic for the game 9. Movement is not bent too much so that it looks fake 10. facial expressions match a morning 11. joints bend perfectly 12. hair movement is awesome for tentacles 13. etc. What animation studio are you working for?!
I've talked about this at length before, but I wish we could have our own apartments at some point in a Splatoon game. Not just as a customizable base but also as a social place for friends where you can visit and just hang out. Despite Inkopolis only being relegated to the hub it feels so incredibly alive and I find myself staring past the fence constantly- hoping I could go past it and explore; discover more, and engage with the lives of these characters on a more tactile level. Splatoon's world is just so vibrant and rich and I WISH Nintendo will capitalize on that aspect of the series at some point in the near future. So much of Splatoon's world makes me so homesick for a place I've never been and I just want to get as close as possible to actually being there through the mediums we have available. You've distilled and captured the feelings I constantly experience perfectly with this animation, so- thank you.
if they do which i hope i'd love to just walk around down town to listen of what the place sound like and feels like i'd also probably love to have a grocery store where we buy snacks to boost ourselves in battle or for optional hunger or thirst i would love more companies made more life like games or a part of the game which is life like where we can just walk around and enjoy the visual and calmness
I love this. All the little details of the terribly messy room. The chill music. The fact that nothing is really happening in the clip, it's just a quiet moment, on a regular morning in Inkopolis.
I really need more "normal everyday style" in these games franchises like Splatoon and Sonic, showing cities, mores, schedules...is so...comfy and blessed
Ima go on a bit of a typing spree here, but I recently picked up the Splatoon 2 art book and I LOVED it. The best part about the book (in my opinion just to be sure) was the two pages feature a bunch of designs and characters. Each of them had their own uniqueness to them, as well as small descriptions on what they are like and such. It was amazing to see such small detail to such small characters, and I REALLY want to see more of that stuff in the future. The manga is kinda like that, but the majority is just battling like in the games. If we could at least get some more characters just living the life, I’d be down for it.
@@aspect_537 I've literally seen @Gatling Spletzer the Inkhog everywhere in the comments section, all they're doing is posting negative stuff, being ignorant, and overall trying to offend people for some reason.
This Splatoon animation is like waking up in the morning living in a hotel at the Japan and the best part is you can see the sky and the airplane flying.
@Gatling Spletzer the Inkhog No it isn't? Splatoon 2's Inkopolis Square is based on NY Times Square, but that's literally the only thing "west" about it. Splatoon 1's plaza was based on Shibuya, a district(?) in Tokyo, Japan. Both games are entirely japanese-made regardless of where the location's inspirations came from. It's not like japanese people have never traveled outside of Japan.
@Gatling Spletzer the Inkhog Okay sure, but that's not even the point of the argument to begin with? No one's winning anything. You're just grasping at straws now.
Gotta say, the detail and realism has been enhanced 100 fold, it’s almost uncanny. But at the same time, those tiny details like the subsurface scattering on their skin is really what makes it feel real yet believable
I love that light seems to go through them a little more than it would go through human skin. Really makes them feel a little gooey and boneless, as they should
I hope they introduce some type of apartment mechanic in 3. It would be cool to have your own little area to spend your free time and decorate to your liking. I know, I’m not a game designer, but it could work if they try Edit: Looks like our prayers were answered... kinda. It may not be apartments, but I think the lockers will be a great addition and serve pretty much the same purpose that my hypothetical apartment idea would
Ryaliz Sort of like that, yeah. I think it could potentially happen because if you look at the trailer, there are Inklings in the apartments, so maybe that’s a clue
It would be cool if something like this was the opening to splatoon3! Like when you open the game instead of giving off a view of the plaza, instead it would be something like this with your character waking up and turning on the radio or something for the news to come on. Or with the big screen out the window and it zooming in on it from the apartment to present the maps and modes!
I absolutely adore how smooth this animation is. What could be good to add, is a loop of it turning night, the octo going back to bed, and starting all over again.
I love all the details omg. Their suitcases, armor, laptop is still up and running on an art program, their gear is hung around, their phones are charging, amazing. Agent 4 doesn't have a bunk buddy so they just store stuff up there.
I honestly wish that Splatoon allowed us to have an decorate our inkling/octolings apartment, kind of like a similar home decorating system Animal Crossing New Horizons has, that would be a neat idea in my opinion
I like how accurate this is though, one of the reasons the Octarians had an advantage in the Great Turf War was because they could get up early. Inklings don't do that, they get up later in the day. So it's pretty cool to see that this was shown here, 3 and 4 are still asleep, while 8 is able to get up early with no problems at all.
This video is incredible. Also, I would like to point out, how cute it is, to see all three agents (3, 4, and 8) living in the same apartment. They must be BFFs or something
@@greenberrygk Callie and Marie likely aren't far 3, 4, and 8. Text from splatoon 2 says that Marie lives in an apartment, we don't know if callie lives there too though. They might be in the same building.
Also the brand stickers everywhere in the room, which come with the clothes because inklings love sticking them everywhere. And there was a Chirpy Chips poster in Agent 4's bed. Our boy Sandwich is one of the few Splatoon animators who actually cares about the franchise (instead of making animations solely to ship characters) Thank you John Sandwich for bringing us the peak of Splatoon fandom!
I've always loved the more urban side of Splatoon, outside of just turf wars and inkopolis square. those basic things like apartments, and restaurants, etc. will always put me in a good mood.
Dont mind me im just LOSING MY MARBLES holy heck this is so good!! As someone who wants to start animating, how long does a piece like this take to make? Just so I know what to expect in terms of time ^^"
I just love how well you represented the agents. Three sleeps without moving too much because she’s supposed to be the serious, mature one, thanks to the first attack of Octavio, which made her the most powerful Inkling but also forced her to grow up faster than a normal kid, exchanging power for a normal life. Four moves a lot because she’s the funny one, because she’s younger than the other two and because, as the lore from Splatocalypse stated, she goes with the flow and don’t care too much. And the fact that Eight gets up earlier makes sense because she’s was a soldier after all, and we can imagine they had to get up early in the underground for training purposes, and even if now she’s part of the group, I guess she hasn’t broke totally with her past self.
Also bc of the fact that the octolings won the Great turf war due to the fact they wake earlier than the inklings. Yes yes I know I'm late Yes yes I'm rewatching it Yes yes I cant wait for more v8ds Yes yes
That’s what I love about they all hang out together and the agents all share an apartment it’s so wholesome and cute which is why I think everyone is happy that octolings and inklings can live in peace without any war
I wish the game has cutscenes like this. So lovely. Also, who else wants a Splatoon life sims game? No turf war, just a life simulation as an Inkling or Octoling in the world of Splatoon!
I don't know if I've ever said this here, but this scene is just... it's just perfect. Just the context of these agents being three best friends and roomies is awesome. The animation is smooth, believable, but calm. The scenario of a cluttered apartment bedroom was nailed. The window seems to show changes in lighting (although maybe that's just me), and the buildings outside, if you told me you didn't film them from a building's window yourself, I wouldn't believe you, due to how realistic they look. And the music, lo-fi! A perfect choice for a lazy, calm morning where nothing urgent is going on... This is all so delightful, it gives me chills and makes me feel all fuzzy inside.
With the reveal of locker customization, I feel like it's a soft test for a potentially expanded feature in the future. They rarely seem to leave mechanics behind, which is nice.
Splatoon has always had a vibe I love, where it's bright, frantic, loud, and never ashamed...but in places, you can see the chill. The calm water of puddles in the back streets, or friends just chilling out. This vibes with that to me. Not everything is neon. Concrete just fine too.
