This is why I don't mind snow. You get 3 ft & in 1 day it's been plowed away. 3 ft of water plus you have damage. Water damages everything. Snow does not.

You're dreaming of a white Christmas. Roughly 12" of snow = 1" water. (It is slightly variable) At 3' of rain (36") you'd be dealing with about 432" of snow, or 36 ft. Good luck with your snow blower!

The St Johns River runs from the Everglades NORTH to Jacksonville through the east half of Florida. All the rain south of Jacksonville that doesn’t flow to the coastline, drains out through the river. When it is being affected at Jacksonville, that means the water that needs to drain out, in the center of Florida southward, cannot. This path is devastating because it is putting so much water onto those saturated lands and leaving it with no place to go. Hope Ian gets a shot of giddy up and go so FL can start the recovery.

It's been a crazy ride last night during the storm. The house and the studio rumbled and howled praying the windows held together. We made it though. Thank God. I want to say thank you to all the utility workers that have been coming into the state to assist on getting power restored. This was nothing like Hurricane Irma back in 2017. My prayers also go out to those that are more South of us.

I sure hope Insurance Companies pay out quickly and not give anyone any grief. Insurance companies are considered a "Cash Cow" - people pay into - more than they will ever take out over a lifetime. I was just told by my aunt it’s for visiting, not living. My dad is there, my grandparents retired there. I really was ready. I love Florida. My favorite state. My heart is breaking watching this for everyone 🙏🏼

As a matter of fact I had more losses in NY due to Gloria and Sandy. But prayers for those effected I really love Florida and the stories we are hearing are heartbreaking ❤️🙏🏻

More Edison generator and dynamos power plants becomes less and fewer high voltage power lines. The lower voltage AC power lines are easier to repair and less likely to be destroyed by weather.

An Edison generator is a permanent magnet motor as a generator with inverters and transformers to power brushless motors as generators so that you have massive generation of current with inverters and transformers to deliver high voltage AC power to the power lines. This is a zero fuel and zero pollution power plants that are inexpensive continuous peak power without fuel or pollution. The PUC was created by Congress to assure these power plants were used but they failed.

Metaphorically we are being asked to evacuate Florida because we can't afford home insurance. I say make home insurance state run a bonafide Zero profit, remove middle man because insurance companies cant afford to cover the brunt regardlessly, FEMA has to dish out money anyways. I want to reiterate im not asking for a free ride, we"re all going to pay, but not to the level of losing our homes after working for 46 years.

@Erika With a K it was predicted to hit as a major 3, not a 1. Storms never weaken in the gulf. Also the cone was huge and encompassed fort Myers as we never know the exact track. You sound really uneducated and just unaware of how hurricanes work.

@Erika With a K It is expected to hit SC as a cat 1. But was never supposed to be a 1 in Florida. It didn't even drop to a 1, after hitting Puerto Rico. It was already a cat 3 by then.

I worked emergency services for AAA World Hdqtrs. by "myself" during Andrew!! Amazing the calmness and patience people had when it was actually matters of life and death! I had heavy decisions but no one got hurt via during my watch and I was able to save 2 individuals that were in dire straits...
