How I get ready on better days 😊 even on ‘good’ days, I’m not usually able to sit up until the afternoon 🙈 So, this shows how I get ready on ‘better’ days, it just doesn’t happen until much, much later in the day!

And I still need to be in bed for 21 hours a day, but there are so many things you can do in bed to make it better. I was too weak and I’ll to cry when I was bedridden though, so I didn’t even get upset about it when I was as that would have used to much energy & made me worse physically

Thank you for sharing your morning routine, I also have hEDS, PoTs, MCAS, CFS, rheumatoid arthritis and so many more bits and bobs lol to many to list as I’m sure you know and understand lol, I’ve been wondering about your hand/thumb splints and I was wondering if you brought them or got them through orthotics? If you brought them could you kindly let me know where from please as I’ve spent a fortune on buying ones that just don’t help at all and they really look perfect for my thumb/ wrist area where I get most of my hand problems, take care and hope you have an ok as possible day x
@GeorginasJourney
@GeorginasJourney 4 года назад
My physiotherapist told me to buy them when my joints were chronically dislocated, but they're about £50-£60 depending on where you get them, so pretty expensive. They also only support one tiny joint and there are so many in your thumb and hand, so you'll want to be sure its for the right thing if you decide to get one (or two!). My physiotherapy notes & the boxes for these are actually packed away in storage atm as I'm moving house, but once I get them back & find out what they're called, I'm going to do a video all about them & my other braces. Unfortunately it won't be until mid July as that's when my tenancy starts x

Georgina's Journey thank you so much for replying and for your honesty as well as it’s hard to find something to help as many joints as possible as you know yourself, hope you’re day is going as ok as possible, that sounds like a great idea to do video wise and you can only do what you can do and when you can too as I know that we all understand what it’s like and also how much it can take out of you from doing a video to then also edit etc as it uses up a lot of energy as I do awareness bits myself and it takes a lot of energy that you don’t have spare so that could be only one thing that can be done for the day, anyway I’m waffling lol take care of yourself hun x

@GeorginasJourney 4 года назад
Grace Welch I have another brace that was cheaper & helps more joints, it’s just a lot bulkier & not as practical, but I’ll include that in the video too :) That’s not the problem, I can manage 1 or 2 videos a week atm in terms of my health since I’m not at uni, I just can’t film that one yet as the boxes & a couple of my other braces are in storage

Looks like my bedside table drawer except so much more organized 😂 you open mine up and it’s just pill bottles upon pill bottles (im on 7 meds plus a bunch of supplements) and I have to go through them every time to find the right one haha. The midodrine is always right at the forefront tho bc I take it so often. My POTS is also the WORST in the morning and by bedtime I almost feel like a normal person which is super frustrating. Great video! I can totally agree with 1. consciousness, 2, body scan to see if it’s safe to move, and 3, immediately takes medication and waits for it to kick in! (I don’t always remember to go to the toilet though... oops!)
@GeorginasJourney
@GeorginasJourney 4 года назад
billieblue Sheepie I don’t body scan, my heartrate jumps to 180ish when I wake up from any movement so I can just feel it. Constantly body scanning isn’t a healthy thing to do. I think I remember you talking to me about incontinence in the past- if it’s a matter of forgetting like you’re saying here, you should try setting alarms on your phone every 2 hours or whatever the case may be
@billiebluesheepie2907
@billiebluesheepie2907 4 года назад
Georgina's Journey - I have to check my joints before I move because I’m so used to subluxing or dislocating from relaxing when I’m asleep that I can tear if I move too quickly. I’ve been given splints for my feet/ankles, knees, and an abdominal binder to sleep in but they’re uncomfortable and sweaty. I don’t need to body scan once I’m out of bed. I don’t have any feeling of needing to go, and when I do go I don’t feel it, and even if I try to go completely I don’t empty enough. I had major emergency abdominal surgery in 2013 (5 months in hospital) and haven’t had any normal sensation since. I also have a large rectocele from poor motility and weak collagen, that occasionally blocks my urethra, so sometimes they put a foley in but I hate leaving hospital with one in because you can’t hide it in comfy leggings!
@GeorginasJourney
@GeorginasJourney 4 года назад
billieblue Sheepie hope the splints help! I dislocate my hips & shoulders from sleeping, but I just put them back in when I wake up so I don’t tear anything- I should have shown that in the video as the hip ones make such a loud noise and you can see it go back in the socket! Okay, you said you just forget which is why I recommended the alarms. It’s also helpful with lack of sensation though, I don’t have any sensation either & can’t feel when I go due to complications of a surgery I had on my bladder & urinary tract last year (& I also don’t empty fully fully due to EDS, hence the catheters) and alarms help me. I’d say it’s worth trying it

Currently I'm with my mom because I need too much help and she's pretty annoyed because I need so much stuff around the bed. We're both looking forward to our new flat together with a room for each so I don't take up all her personal space. @@GeorginasJourney If you don't have money to buy the cart by the end of May I'd like to buy it for you if that's okay for you. I use the cheap Amazon brand but it does quite a good job. With bag system I meant that your videos sometimes show you organising and storing your stuff in bags and that's what I do with stuff I often need. It comes in quite handy. When I had to go to the hospital I only needed to add shampoo, conditioner, face wash and body wash in my cosmetics bag and was good to go for example. I decided to pack spares of these things in an extra bag so when I'm too ill to pack for the hospital myself whoever does it only needs to grab both bags. About The Buteyko Method: A Summary of the Pathophysiology of Chronic Hyperventilation by Ira Packman, M.D. The fact that chronic hyperventilation (CHV) has an effect on the lungs is easily understood and explained. The systemic (whole body) effects however, are physically and physiologically distant from the lungs and therefore are more difficult to understand. The multi-system, wide spread systemic ramifications of chronic hyperventilation are numerous. These effects are all caused by the initial effect of pulmonary hypocapnia (low CO2) which causes spasm of the airways leading to asthma. The loss of CO2 from the lung on a long term basis causes a compensatory response throughout the body. This concept is called homeostasis which means that the body is always trying to stay in balance and return to its most comfortable state. A partial list of homeostatic controls would include: - Constant body temperature - Constant whole body water volume - Glucose levels - Mineral balance including sodium, potassium, magnesium, zinc etc. - Acid base balance (Ph control) The acid base/Ph control mechanisms are very sensitive and closely controlled, because the Ph of the body affects the function of every body system. It is this system that is activated when patients chronically hyperventilate. Understanding this concept, we can follow what happens with CHV. - The lungs continuously blow off too much CO2 causing local pulmonary hypocapnia (low CO2) and arterial hypocapnia. - The arterial hypocapnia immediately changes the Ph of the circulating blood causing an increase in the Ph (alkalosis). - The increase in the Ph causes a decrease in the delivery of Oxygen to all the bodies tissues due to the Bohr Effect (In an alkalotic environment, the hemoglobin molecules in the red cells hold onto the oxygen molecules more tightly and will not release the O2 to the tissues). - The kidneys see the alkalosis/Ph change and know that it must correct the bodies Ph back towards neutral (neutral Ph is a Ph of 7.40). Once CHV becomes long standing the kidneys response becomes an ongoing process in which the kidneys excrete bicarbonate in an attempt to correct the alkalosis which was created by the CHV. - The net result is a depletion of the bicarbonate buffers due to continuous over excretion of bicarbonate which also causes the loss of electrolytes including magnesium and phosphorous which are lost with the bicarbonate. - The loss of phosphorous also decreases the production of ATP (adenosine tri-phosphate) and ADP which are the bodies’ main source of energy. - This then causes a decrease in the functioning of many organs including the muscles, heart, lungs, bone marrow, immune system and liver. - These functional changes, coupled with the arterial spasm that occurs directly due to the low CO2 levels in the blood, are expressed in the long term as muscle fatigue, hypertension due to arterial spasm, decrease in the oxygenation of the brain, migraine headaches due to arterial spasm, spasm of the arteries supplying the gut, decrease brain function with memory changes, alterations in the production of proteins and metabolism of lipids in the liver causing elevated cholesterol. This is just a partial list of the systems, organs and bodily functions which are affected by CHV and the subsequent low CO2 levels in the lungs and blood. This concept regarding the origins and causes of these diseases is very radically different from the way medical schools teach about these diseases. It is revolutionary and may be too simple for many academicians to accept or understand.

What do you tend to diffuse? - do you find any oils help with POTs and EDS? or any that make it worse?

Daisy Kelly I diffuse orange with peppermint which is meant to help with nausea & fatigue! Although I haven’t seen significant differences from it so far. In terms of things to avoid, eucalyptus has made me feel sick before & anything in large amounts gives me a headache, so make sure you’re not using too many drops at a time of anything!

Evelyn Archer My physio recommended them to me! Unfortunately my physio notes & the boxes for these are packed away in storage atm as I'm moving house, but once I get them back & find out what they're called, I'm going to do a video all about them & my other braces. The soonest I can do it will be in about two weeks as that's when my next tenancy starts!

@@GeorginasJourney how do you manage the cost of these things around studying? Do you get extra student finance?
@GeorginasJourney
@GeorginasJourney 3 года назад
eileen bruce I don’t think I get extra student finance, but if I do, it’s only an extra £100 a year or so which doesn’t cover much. I earn extra money from my RU-vid channel though, so that really helps :) And my catheter & prescription costs are all covered by the nhs using my prepayment certificate, which was about £104 for a year :)

You have EDS , POTS , and Fowlers syndrome yes ? Are you aware of that . I have all of this but u didn’t mention Fowlers , you need too look into that x
@GeorginasJourney
@GeorginasJourney 5 месяцев назад
I haven’t been tested for fowlers or diagnosed with it & am not able to look into it further as I’m mostly bedbound again now from my other conditions, but it is a possibility, yes. Since I’ve already got catheters prescribed & had urological surgeries & procedures done, a diagnosis like that wouldn’t benefit me a whole lot anyway, as I have received the same treatment with the diagnoses that I do have, based on the simple/basic urodynamics testing I had done x
@GeorginasJourney

(By basic, I mean that my bladder function & abdominal pressure was tested extensively, but I’m unaware if my urethra & the sphincter involved in fowlers was tested)

Reports from two conferences in Moscow and Krasnojarsk in 1988 (large variety of health problems) There were about 30 published reports (Buteyko method, 1992) of about 40 Russian medical doctors and health professionals, who met during two conferences in Moscow and Krasnojarsk in 1988 in order to share their practical experience of application of the Buteyko method in over 20 medical hospitals and clinics in Russia. The total reported number of treated people, according to the published conference proceedings (Buteyko, 1991), was over 3,000. Although most of them had respiratory (asthma, bronchitis, rhinitis, etc.) and cardiovascular (hypertension, angina pectoris, ischemia, etc.) problems, hundreds were treated or relieved from arthritis, osteoporosis, epilepsy, ulcers, gastritis, kidney stone problems, hepatitis, different infertility conditions, skin diseases (e.g., dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema), etc. Typical reported results were either some or essential improvement for over 90% patients, while remaining patients were not able to normalise their breathing parameters due to absence of desire or motivation and quitting the method during its initial stages. Thus, those patients who achieved large CPs significantly improved their health state. Normalization of breathing always leads to dissapperance of symptoms and no need for medication. Buteyko method. Its application in medical practice, ed. by K.P. Buteyko, 1991, 2nd edition, Titul, Odessa.

Sweet Victory it took me a couple of years to find medications I could tolerate and even then, the vast majority have side effects which settle over time, it’s worth trying them and trying to give them a few days for side effects to settle, as the can help immensely in the long run :) And mast cells react kind of randomly, so there are likely to be some that you can tolerate, you just have to keep trying different ones u til you find what works :)
