We really like the channel and enjoy yawls videos!!!!!!!!! Getting hot here in central Texas and we are at the point of where the spring summer harvest is over and the rest period begins. Temperatures will be in the upper 90's to 100 all the way up to the end of September. We will be seed starting Sept-Oct for the fall winter garden under 40% shade cover. Squash, greens, broccoli, cabbage plants will go in Sept. Harvesting 20-30 lb watermelons and getting ready to seed lots of root veg. God Bless!

Looks like a bumper crop of tomatoes this year Rachel, all your hard work is paying off. I'm so jealous! My cabbages got missed and delayed in planting so are tiny and just taking off. But my cucumbers, I ordered kinda rare to us cucumbers, 2 Asian burpless types from another youtuber and they are finally blooming and I keep watching the tiny little cucumbers get bigger each day! Jin is a dark green and I am trying a white one I think its called white jade. I also ordered long beans and one bloomed yesterday -very pretty blue butterfly looking flower. My tomatoes are fruiting but I think I'm a ways from harvest lol

On your squash. The past couple years I only got female flowers first and no males. I was growing honeynut. It did catch up but I was sad watching about 6 fruits wither off. This year my zucchini and yellow croockneck only had males for weeks and I did trim a lot of extra leaves off and the ratty ones from a small hail storm a few weeks back. Now lots of fruits coming. But its just time to start my second set of zucchini plants out. Last year I got decimated by vine boreres and the roadside stand lady told me to plant more you've plenty of time left to grow and she was right. Last summer I planted in mid July and by late August I had all kinds of squash. Lucky here in michigan we only have one breeding season of vine borers so they grew beautiful. I'm seeding a new yellow zucchini with stripes called gold rush today.

Fyi, you will get the male blossoms before you get the female blossoms. I think that's nature's way of bringing in the pollinators to the plant, so when the female blossoms show up there will be plenty of pollinators ready for them. 😎

It has been hot and dry here in Central Washington State I have only 3 tomatoes that set on 23 tomatoes. The blossoms just dry up and fall off. We just got off Level 2 evacuation from the Red Apple Fire. Was watching the fire spotting on the far mountains it was really interesting to watch. I have gone through this at least 4 times where I live in the mountains around Cashmere, so watching the fire and knowing how the wind blows didn't bothered me except I felt bad for the animals. I am sure some of the new neighbors were scared. It is cooling down so maybe I will get some tomatoes yet this summer.

Yes you guys have had a 9b growing experience this year. It’s a completely different type of challenge trying to fight against blossom drop. The key is Shadecloth + using an electric toothbrush on your open flowers every morning around 10am. It seems to work well down here in Sacramento valley where we are always dry and hot. Oh, and keeping your soup moist truly helps with blossom drop. Once you hit 105+ the only thing that will keep your flowers is if they’re already pollinated, hence the morning pollination practice. Good luck!

I have been fighting borers incessantly this year! I followed your wrap advice when I first planted them and place more as they grow, but have found multiple places where they chewed right through the wraps! The wraps are on thick too (not real tight but wound so that as they overlap it makes them 2-3 layers deep. Anyone else have them chew right through? Im considering foil then wraps ugh. Oh also they have taken to also boring from where the leaf joins its stem and then down into plant. I have been doing surgery weekly and taking off eggs as I find them. Also applying and injecting BT. Cherry on the top? My 4 best/biggest squash plants were dug/pulled up! Dont know if its an armadillo or what. Trying to save them in water and am seeing root growth and perking up of newer leaves so Im hopeful. Baaaad year so far!

It's not dead but its yellow and slowly producing😂 Blossoms flalling off, brassicas flowered too early so I cut those only to discover in doing so I produced two or sometimes 3 smaller heads of cabbage on one plant😂, 150 tomato plants and only had a handful of tomatoes, strawberries had to be harvested before ripping or they would rot and mold due to all the rain, 10 zucchini plants only harvested 2, no pumpkins growing only male flowers..just weird..but we have had lots of cucumbers, huge blackberries, our pear tree is loaded, our grapes look full and jars are slowly getting full...slowly..😂🙌

I've got mainly tomato plants in the back garden and some potatoes in one section of the raised bed. Unfortunately I didn't realize not to plant tomatoes and potatoes in the same area and I had so many Roma plants that I put one in there just as experiment to see how it would grow with the soil that's been in there for a few years. But both are growing incredibly well so far. I do desperately need to get in there and clean up since I can't tell what's what at this point aside from the actual romas themselves. Anyone know why i have so many mosquitos in that garden when there are no standing water and I also have peppermint in there to. I have nothing they'd want as far as I know and I get attacked the second I cross the gate.
