Sorry for the green flashes folks. Don't know what the craic is with that 🤨 I'll consult my production team (Dan and Nic) tomorrow and sort it. Probably some setting to change or something 🙄 (Could be the fairies...) Anyway hope it didn't ruin it for you! B
Loving the production team 😂 I knoooow that feeling when you can’t find things you just used 🤣😩 my brain is fog because I’m old now … not sure what you’re all excuses are … But if all else fails….Blame the puppy!!! 😊 ❤❤❤❤
Brian, your vlog has become my refuge from the pure ugliness, insanity and anxiety of American politics right now. So thank you for such a serene respite.
Not sure if you know this Brian, but I believe there is a requirement for a daily joke and a daily puppy cuddle in the fine print of your RU-vid contract. I could listen to you talk for hours and your walks through the villages are lovely.
I love your daily vlogs but couldn't help laugh when you said "just look at this view" & we heard Nick shoot back immediately with "All I can see is OSB!" 🤣 xx
Today i took you out to coffee with me in my local ‘village’ on the Sunshine Coast Queensland, Australia. Enjoyed my long black and blueberry danish while laughing aloud at your stories. Hope you enjoyed it as much as i do when you take me to the cafe in France.😉
Brian I am from and live in the USA and I have known about the origin of Halloween and all about the Irish origins but to hear a true Irish person tell about is absolutely marvelous thank you
Really nice video, Brian. Was sipping on a coffee myself during your story. I love when you share the beauty of the buildings...inside and out. Much appreciated. I especially like your choice of music. Perfect. See you later.
Departement Creuse Brian, you're right smack in the middle of France. What a perfect setup. If you carry on with your brilliant vlogs, the departement should pay you for bringing in the tourists, us 33.700 are al ready for coming. Cheers!
Oooooo! Thank you Brian! I absolutely love the Irish history of Samhain, and the Tuatha de Danann this American girl has loads of books on them and lots of Leprechauns too I only collect the statues of them on my birth 3/17. Lol
I absolutely loved the origins of Samhain/Halloween and my heart actually jumped for joy when I heard you pronounce Samhain!! I have had many of heated debates over the pronunciation!!!! I’ll be checking out the podcast you mentioned, I love hearing Irish folk lore. My granny was half Irish and half Dutch, and raised in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia, USA. I’m very much drawn to the Irish/Celtic folklore.
Loved the coffee and talk. The view from the top of the tower was gorgeous. I'm glad the weather is cooperating. Thanks Brian. Another day in paradise.
Hello Brian, it's very nice to see you and share your experiencing in life. I'd like to comment on your choice of musical accompaniment. It's perfect! Thank you! and take good care!
I had an Old Ford Popular that required a run up hills, otherwise it slowed right down. When I eventually sold it there was a hole in the radiator and where the front passenger put their feet. In the winter I had to hit the starter motor with an iron rod. The kids these days have no idea of the fun we had back in the day.😅
When I saw how the light enters the top of the chapel I have to think of Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. Place everybody should visit to see. Thanks Brian! I like the positive Energy! 👍🏻
Another lovely morning with you! Thanks for the glimpse into the church at Saint-Leonard and your description of the peacefulness of it. Really pretty view from the tower too!
Hi, nice one this! Liked the views of the town and church and can titally relate to you enjoing an intact centre with a coffee! the green flashes did not ruin it at all! 😂Advice from the "production team" is a good idea though. Always nice to see you working on tge chateau with your own camera shots! Anyway admire with what calmness you are hanging (and working !) from such heights!
Hi Brian🍀I just love riding around with you while you tell us about your life and what your up to. I think the Towns and Villages you stop at for a coffee are so quaint and lovely. ☕Thank you for sharing the story of the origins of Halloween that is celebrated in Ireland, it was facinating! Have a lovely day.🙏🇺🇸
LOOOOVE your reference to San Andreas! Grew up in San Francisco - The Land of the Earthquake, but I just love listening to you chat to us. And YES! I had a truck that I literally had to get a huge running start to get up the hills in San Francisco. Good Times! Your new camera is awesome, too. The clarity makes a ton of difference.
Stay warm, bring on the good coffee … because you have a chateau to help build 😉 and every good chateau build in France needs a good cup of coffee and some Irish sensibility
Thanks for the samhain history. Our local neo pagan tribe used to hold a circle but things are less focused as we older hippies have aged and the kids have lost interest, seemingly and a bit sadly. I really enjoy riding along o n your explorations.😂
Yes, I have always loved Irish Folklore. Lots of it has trickled into my country, the U.S. Tell us about Tara - In Gone With the Wind, Scarlett O'Hara's family home was named, "Tara." I don't think the author, of that book, ever explained where the name came from.
Tara is a townland in County Meath about 40kms or 25ish miles from Dublin city centre. Pasted directly from the website for the "Hill of Tara" The Hill of Tara has been important since the late Stone Age, when a passage tomb was built there. However, the site became truly significant in the Iron Age (600 BC to 400 AD) and into the Early Christian Period when it rose to supreme prominence - as the seat of the high kings of Ireland. All old Irish roads lead to this critical site. St Patrick himself went there in the fifth century. As Christianity achieved dominance over the following centuries, Tara’s importance became symbolic. Its halls and palaces have now disappeared and only earthworks remain. There are still remarkable sights to be seen, however. Just one example is the Lia Fáil - the great coronation stone and one of the four legendary treasures of the Tuatha Dé Danann - which stands proudly on the monument known as An Forradh
Your new camera appears to have some sort of ‘beauty’ filter enabled - it makes your features soft & pink and appear less like you. Your natural features are lovely. Really enjoying your channel - thank you for sharing your France with us. It’s a delightful calm at the end of the day. 🇨🇦
My wife and I are fortunate enough to be travelling at our own pace, and finding a village with that nice balance of history, charm and local honesty without being a soulless tourist destination is a very special feeling. Thanks for sharing your experiences and pleasant banter.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story shared about the origins of Halloween, and will check out that pod cast. Loved the music, as always, and appreciate you and all that you share. Cheers!
Sounds like your mates vans timing out and needs a good service, Brian. Looks like a lovely day. I must say your camera expertise is getting good. Loved watching ❤
Hey Brian, France really does have some nice towns/villages. the history and the architecture are truly amazing and beautiful. Thanks for sharing. love from N.Y.
Mutt & Jeff, I love your humor. 🤣 I do have a question about the tower. Does it need lighting rods? Being the tallest structure for miles I imagine it is a beacon for lighting strikes?
You are a lucky man..wandering through such beautiful villages..the scenery and great shopping ..yep calgon take me away! Thanks for sharing your happy places..they are becoming ours as well!
there's nothing as good as a lived in quiet small town..thanks for the tour and the Irish Halloween history. Happy you were all safe today while touching the clouds. Missed the puppy cuddle
I love all the little villages you go through in France, so quaint. I was surprised when you said it was hilly as it always looks so flat on your journeys. Your lovely Irish lilt really calms me!! I thought Halloween was All Hallows Eve and I thought it was a pagan English festival. I guess we have the history in England and Ireland!
Samhain is also a pagan holiday which is a bit like day of the dead and thanksgiving rolled into one. It's also celebrated in Scotland. Edinborough does a big celebration too. Also, I've been looking at central France. Seems the least expensive and all the little towns are lovely.
The views! The little towns with their clean and shiny windows (my town is mostly covered with wildfire soot) and the smooth jazz. But yes, many of us have heard the Halloween origins, since a significant portion of our 'ethnic' cultures relies on our proto-Celt ancestors, who arrived in Europe in the Early Bronze Age with with carts, cattle and cauldrons (they went everywhere in Europe). My favorite modern interpretation of fairies was in "Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell", written by Susanna Clark in 2004 and presented on BBC One in 2015. Fairies are trixie and vicious ;)
