Attention! عند is not a verb in Darija but a particle and is used with many other meanings apart from the English verb "to have". (lit.: be careful you forget!) ما عندي ما نسالك Bravo!/congratulations! عنداك يعيق!: be careful he doesn't notice ما عندك ما دير! مكتوبا عليك You can't do anything, it was written (it's destiny) ما عندي ما ندير: there is nothing I can do/it is out of my hands ما عندك ما تعمل: nothing else can be done / what a remedy! ما عندي ما نسولك I do not owe you anything Obligation: عندك جوج دراهم: you have (to pay) two dirhams ‎غير لي فيك يكفيك ماعندي ماندير بيك what you have is enough for you, I don't have anything to do to you (used when someone has a problem and you don't want to tell them about another = "you have enough with yours"
