@@phineus8397 you're absolutely right, that's probably might happen in Marrakech which is quite big, or in some other big touristic cities, but Imlil is just a small village, with few population, in villages like these you don't have to worry about being approached by scummers, or hustlers. Thanks! We summited Toubkal in mid-March. It was almost the perfect time, weather was cold but not too cold and having some snow on the mountain made the final ascent a little easier than its normal scree surface. The only thing we would have done a tiny bit different was if we had traveled a few weeks later, the trees would have been blooming, which would have added some nice color to the landscape.

Will try fit it in next year along with some other peeks there .It isn't far for me as I can see the Rift mountains in North Morocco from my house on the Sierra Navada spain. The villages around me were originally built by the same people ( Moors ) .

Nice! I'm sure you'll love it, Toubkal is a fun adventure and the area is beautiful. We loved hiking through the small villages near Imlil, and we even did an extra 3 day trek through the Atlas Mountains over to Ouirgane. The best part was the orange juice, even high up in the mountains there would be people selling fresh-squeezed orange juice! Funny, we live near the Sierra Navada in California. There are some similarities in our climates. You must have hiked Mulhacén...we hope to some day do that hike when we visit Spain. It looks like fun!

That is a beautifully composed video - natural conversation by the charming lady, and minus the awful music of other Toubkal videos I've seen. I'm going there soon, so super-useful, and thanks for that. My one concern is... there is no allowance for acclimatization - did you guys already know you can handle that from previous trips? Because if so... you might want to warn others they can't make the same assumption.
@lylesuch4421
@lylesuch4421 2 года назад
Thanks so much for the kind words! We definitely try to be as informative and entertaining as possible with our videos. Sometimes it works, sometimes not so much. Music selection is something we've been paying more attention to lately. We live at sea level, but are lucky to have 14,000 foot mountains close by so we can train at higher altitudes. Because of this, we aren't affected much by altitudes below 15,000 feet. Very true, though, if you aren't accustomed to the effects of altitude, Toubkal can be a very difficult hike. There is a small opportunity for acclimatizing at the refuge where you stay overnight. I would suggest if you are really concerned, stay an extra night and do a short climb during that extra day. Also, there are amazing treks in the surrounding area of the Atlas mountains that would be a nice pre-Toubkal test to see how you do before the final attempt. If you have time, the trek from Ouirgane to Imlil adds an extra two days, but is well worth it...good luck!

Hello, I have been looking into doing Mount Toubkal for a while. I was wondering what the process for booking this trip was: •Who you booked with •How did you book the trip such as WhatsApp messaging them details or? •What was included in the deal as I’m assuming it’s everything bar flights to get to Marrakech where everyone meets •And can I book alone and join a group of people or do I have to have a group Thanks
@lylesuch4421
@lylesuch4421 Год назад
First of all, we booked our trip through Aztat Treks (email atlastrekshop.com) and they did an incredible job and were very easy to work with. We had a rough itinerary including Toubkal Climb, Atlas Mountain trek, and road trip which we then corresponded through email with Aztat Treks, who then coordinated everything including the driver and hotels. For the most part everything was included minus flights, some of the meals, snacks, and of course tips. You can customize pretty much everything according to what you want to see and how long you want to stay in each location. We had a group of three so we reserved a private tour. This is a little more expensive, but ensures that you do exactly what you want. They have several group tours which I'm sure are great, but you have to join a specific itinerary which may not do everything you plan on doing. One of the main reasons we went with that company is that they were very good with communication and that helped to customize the tour and it was a very easy process. Hopefully this helps, and good luck!!

We organized a full Morocco tour with Mohamed at Aztat. They booked the trek to Toubkal and through the Atlas mountains, they also provided a driver who took us from Marrakesh all the way to Tangier with many overnight stops along the way. We booked as a group of two for the trekking, then we had a third person join us for the road trip. Aztat was an incredible company.

@@lylesuch4421 Many thanks. Did you have a separate guide, muleteer and cook (i.e. 3 individuals)? Or did you just have the guide who also moved the mule and cooked food? Just trying to understand how it works.
@lylesuch4421
@lylesuch4421 22 дня назад
Good questions. For our two person group, we had one guide and one muleteer who carried extra gear. On the two day Toubkal ascent we ate at the refugio and at a small cafe on the way up the first day, so the mulateer didn't cook. The second part of our trek over to Ouirgane, the mulateer would set up a spot for lunch and he cooked the food (and the food was amazing). For dinners we ate at the refugios where we slept.

@@lylesuch4421 Many thanks for your replies. This is awesome. I apologise for continuing to ask questions but I think I may use the same company so I would like to have full information. Did you book months in advance of your trip or did you arrive in morocco? Also did you stay in the refugio or in tents? And did you need to bring your own sleeping bags (or would you recommend bringing our own sleeping bags? I see that you did in 2 days rather than over several days to allow your body to adjust to the altitude changes. Did you find it hard to cope with being at the higher altitude?

begin at Imlil; get guides and mules, if you wish, to carry extra water, gear, vittles; one can do it to the fourth refuge in one day; rest and sleep at the refuge des faucons; up and on the go at 4am; up, and up, and up, almost 45 degree slope (slates, slippery); 3 hr slow climb; on top, make some tea; recall physics; enjoy the view, should it be somewhat clear; you may see Europe to the North, Most of our African continent to the South, and the desert all around;}}}ko
