I paid half as much for my train ticket from Paris to Nice about ten years ago. It was a very long journey and I had motion sickness afterwards which I never had in my life before.

@Aidan Bryce thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I took this train FROM Cordoba to Algeciras the other week, in Preferente, and whilst you couldn't fault punctuality, the coach was a bit worn out with TVs in the ceiling that looked like they were from 1985 (not functioning!) Also, the seat didn't recline, however a) I only paid €20 for a 3-hour journey and b) it was fairly comfortable even in standard position. Oh and no food was served to anybody; either they've dropped that service or it's only served before Cordoba? However I will wholly agree that the line is extremely picturesque and the novelty of being on a train as it goes through the gauge/wheel-changing facility is amazing!
food is served now only on AVE trains only on weekdays (Mon-Fri), not anymore on ALTARIA or ALVIA or any else. The price is cheaper now. Before it was Turista base price plus 60%, now Turista price plus 30%. (before any promo discounts). When you realize that Madrid - Barcelona preferente on weekends (when food is not served on AVEs either) is 41€ cheaper and anything else stays the same... For that price you have good traditional restaurant!
'35 minutes' is emblazoned on the side of the craft. But it definitely took over 50 minutes, leaving 40 minutes late. We concluded that 35 minutes was simply the time taken for a Moroccan policeman to process one Moroccan passport in the queue in front. It took 1.5 hours to get ON the ferry!
the Morocans are real priks when it comes to dealing with visitors to or from Spain. it would behoove them to expedite so they can spend more money there. Moroccans are nice people but Govt. sucks.
This is interesting - the Spanish natural landscapes, looks identical to the Moroccan natural landscapes, during the summertime! in Morocco. It looks identical to nature in Morocco.
MGstaR17 I agree I was in Spain in early December of 1972 on my first Navy cruise, I was in Malaga it is very clean there, I was also in Rota when my ship pulled in there and also Barcelona as well. I rode the Barcelona metro twice when I was there. The most beautiful women I've seen in Europe are in Spain. I liked Spain better than the rest of the countries I visited in the Mediterrian on both of my Mediterrian cruises. I seen passenger trains arrive & depart the old Barcelona train depot, great train watching in Barcelona.
That was intentional: The Morocco-Madrid video was done for embedding on my Moroocco page (w ww.seat61.com/Morocco.htm), I then did the Gib one using the same rail journey but with some Gib footage so I could embed that on my Gibraltar page (w ww.seat61.com/Gibraltar.htm). I do warn that the Gib one has identical train journey in the description!
Late at night in Istanbul, cold and a bit of snow flying, i saw an old man with a big bag, picking paper out of trash cans.I offered him $10, but he was too proud to take it, so I just laid it at his feet and walked away.
Vey informative. I might make some videos like this of my travels. But something you didn't mention , and I think rather important. You didn't discuss anything about passports, or visa, or customs. You didn't mention any of that. Surely there must be some sort of passport control. I understand within most of Europe ithere aren't passport checks at borders, between Spain and Morocco there must surely be some sort of passport control.
Passing south border of European Union there are strict border controls. Depending by your nationality you have to check which documents (visa?) you need and at which regions inside EU they are valid. (E.g. if you got visa for single state belonging to Schengen Area you aren't allowed to travel outside even to another Schengen state.) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_Area Like you I don't understand not to mentioned about necessary requirements passing this special border between Morocco to Spain. (I think it's easier from Spain to Morooco than the other direction.)
I Love this video. Quite informative! My lady and I are planning a similar trip for next summer. Is it possible to contact you via email for questions and advice?
Great video as always but a bit of duplication with your Gibraltar to Madrid video? I am taking your advice from your excellent website and instead of flying to Amsterdam I am taking Stena Line's 'dutchflyer', train and boat service to Amsterdam this coming Tuesday.
