I am not stating anything about them musically. I am from GA and I am used to seeing MoB year-in and year-out when my alma mater would play them when they were in Division II and previous years. So, musically I am not commenting about that. I just hate when people make comments about MoB when they don't have a clue. These young kids that just started to hear about MoB, but don't know the history of MoB and their financial situation.
MANN MBC WAS AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST!!! Every band in SWAC we CRUSHED.... They know it, we have much respect from all bands for that, so give praise where its due!!! I LOVE MY BAND! EVERY SECTION!!, every band parent, lol..every director!! I can't wait til we have a real Homecoming, with parade and Old heads performing!! Everybody gotta come back so we can show em' what a TRUE band in the AUC suppossed to be like!!!Often imitaited, never duplicated.
Morehouse used to get wit Clark Atlanta Univ. now they cant get with middle school bands...Morris Brown was the jewel of the AUC and will soon be back...they reapplying for accreditation in 07 and wit the support they have, they'll be back in a few years
Well, I know MBC very well from back in the days when they were in the SIAC. They were a monster to battle against because next to Alabama A&M, CAU and Morehouse, they were one of the largest bands then. You would always have to have a book, in order to, battle MoB or they will blow you out of the stadium. Ironically, my alma mater's new band director is a Brownite and played in the "Purple Haze". I know my alumni tried to get Ellis before he left to go direct South Carolina State.
OH, lawd, for you GENIUSES again. Morris Brown is NOT even near getting accredited. First you have to get out of debt, in order, for SACS to accredit you. Morris Brown hasn't even paid their light bill and the City of Atlanta want their money. Morris Brown has 240 students at this point and may not have that many if the institution doesn't pay it's bill. Plus, Jordan Hall is on the chopping block to be sold! So, please, do your HOMEWORK, kids!

@zaokoyechatma Crooked president and financial aid director embezzled millions and caused the college to loose it's accreditation. The college is still open and they have a band now but they are still working on getting their accreditation back. Until then, with no accreditation they can't receive federal funds such as financial aid so they have to seriously rebuild.

You know what I hate, I hate when folks try to talk down Morris Brown, they lost their accreditation 7 years ago, their trying to get it back, but they keep bumping into walls and running to a couple of bumps no one said it would be easy for them to come back. But this was hard though regardless.
@snare4lyfe08 MBC collage were closed so all musicians went to other schools years ago. but they will rebuild their band. im just a german guy who never saw that bands live but... luv it ^^
I understand what you're saying, MB was a great band and no I didn't know about them that much or about the credit situation they're in I've always been a Wildcat fan, but it you listen to both BCU and MB they sound one in the same accept I believe BCU has a more together sound you can hear more woodwinds and 2nd and 3rd in the brass, more color I guess, but I do like MB as well they were the most entertaining of all HBCU bands and actually, looked and sound good.
well seeing that they have their acritdation back i don't think they will close for good they are in the process of trying to have their football team and band up and running by the 2009 season and if not 2009 then 2010. They have been going to battle of the bands to show that their back.
Well the whole thing is this video has nothing to do with their accreditation, I'm just enjoying the music. Musically they had the best band back in the day. Lets hope they get their act together and someday make a comeback. But they are trying make improvements
I agree, BCU sounds more together they worry about quality where MB just plain ole want to destroy the other but sound good at it which they are I would love to dee BCU and MB go at it in 5qt
You know I really wanted to say that but I didn't want to upset anyone, but thats like all the bands now a days, it's like the pride is leaving the bands you know? Back in the day I use to LOVE FAMU but now I don't know it's like your program is slipping.
I agree both have a very strong brass section and the best tuba and trumpet section, FAMU has a nice tuba section but I always enjoy listening to BCU's FAMU's Tubas always sound dark and dungeony where as BCU and JSU's has that nice marching band sound FAMU always sound symphonic to me. Not saying its a bad thing but they sound so far away.
LOL ask SU how MoB came in their place and had their Fans go Damn after they played it was i there in 2000 hell yea buddy i was 12 and is was nasty Same year FAMU gave SU the business had all their fans hype during half tyme
Other band would not be scared if MBC was still around. The top bands know the have their own style and things that make them special, so they got no fear of what some other band does. Now if it was one of these bands only recently making a come-up, that might be true. Nothing against MBC, but some people just swinging a little too hard
MBC will not be open in the Spring and may close for good. For those that are thinking about attending, you may rethink it. Again, if they are not accredited by SACS, there is no need to even trying to attend. You are wasting your money and time.
Well, let me break it down for you once more. The problem with losing accreditation is constant issue with HBCU because of poor, mismanaged leadership. I honestly feel bad for MoB, but at the same time many HBCU alumn feels, as do I, that MoB brought it on themselves. They have lived on the edge for number of years and hasn't done anything to rectify their problem with their leadership of the BOT. Plus, moving up to Division IAA was their undoing. It was bound to happen
I've seen them in person but to be honest I'm not really impressed FAMU should be running the HBCU they have the members and the directors but it's like somethings missing or things don't fit right.
What a waste of a great Band Program. Pound for pound I think they would go tot to toe with any SWAC band, and I'm an TXSU alum. R.I.P. Mo-Brown one of the Gladiator's of Black Marching bands has been taken from us.
Different things in your eyes the HIGH SCHOOL music SU play is beatiful in mines only a few songs they play are beatiful but i would take FAMU four season and match it up vs any SU arragrement and i bet SU wont hit the runs right just like i will take MBC Jill Scott"Is this they way" and match it up vs SU two hearts and Love saw and beat that MBC sound is more beatiful but your a person who thinks that Loud is music but can you call out any different notes in SU songs that not whole and halfs?
Oh yea SU field shows really show case that their at the top in Marching hard right? LMAO on and putting the score on the field was only done by SU and nobody eles can do it right? 2005 and 2008 Redan High(Stone Mountain,Ga)Put the score on the field.But your right you a simple person so layering Half and whole unison notes makes for Great music and are ment for real musicians to play LMAO man the only run i ever heard SU hit was after "I kiss a girl" 2008 LMAO but each person ears hear.....
