BCU and FAMU were both as big or bigger than they are now...back when MBC was around. MBC has one big year 2000 then they became normal size after that
This is still the hardest🔊🔊🔊 400 degrees arrangement, still to this day! idc what nobody say! .........along with "💪why you acting like a 🔊🔊🔊BIA- BIAAAA. " 😂😂😂Thay snapped!💯
13yrs later and I still get goose bumps when watching this, but being there live was like no other. Glad I was apart of MBC "Marching Wolverines" #PurplePassion
Sorry, no favortism player. I do not represent either school, just posted what I had. TSU just picked the wrong thing to play back at MBC and Morris Brown was just in total crunk mode.
Just a reminder... Honda told the bands NOT to play in the Tunnels. Who listens to people with authority in Band Life? It started with the smaller groups first. (Morehouse, CAU, and JCSU) were playing at each other. What didn't make it on to this footage was TSU playing R. Kelly's Ignition Remix. THAT is what made u want to play. 400 wasn't counted off... The Tuba Section said, "We're Going to Play" They Counted it Off and this is what was recorded. "Bia Bia" was not counted off either...a lead in works well for bands.
i remember this...i was at this BOTB and you could hear this in the stands...shit was epic...im from Atlanta and i grew up watching this band...hate they lost their accreditation because i always wanted to go there...probably the main reason i went to SCSU is for the opportunity to march for Mr. Ellis...
Wow, I attended MBC from 01-03 right when the madness started. Im from Detroit and all I can say is there was no love like Morris Brown love. I graduated from Clark but my heart bleeds "DEAR OL MORRIS BROWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNN" Auc ain't what it use to be. Anybody reading this can tell you how live the AUC was in the early 2000s. Oh yea, can't forget getting food from Stiegel's.
TSU played " just getting it on" by Playa Fly. That's an underground classic. People saying that song is not a crunk as Bia Bia and 400 Degreez have to be young. I would have loved to see the brass section not woodwinds, but they were in formation. so that's understanding.
Morris Brown was a actual band. Yes they were in Drumline but this particular event was not during the shooting of the movie Drumline. This was during the Honda Battle of the Bands in Atlanta.
Saved and downloaded- haven’t heard a better version of this song with this sound along with the acoustics (even by MBC on the field or stands). Just dumb hard🤦♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏽♂️
You're not. ....I was at work watching this and when it dropped I started bouncing and forgot where I was for a sec. ..lol wish the dms would have let them play that out!!!
Right especially the black one n especially Morris Brown Machine wolverines I remember going to the BOTB in 2003 n I saw Morris Brown I was like holy shit
Yo, I was there with Grambling that year. Everybody was blowing on everybody in that tunnel....lol. I remember hearing MBC blowin all the way on the other side of the tunnel......RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!
Man i would have went to Morris Brown if they had accreditation and I hope they get it back. My high school director Thomas Warner was Trumpet section leader and Drum major there. And the dude in the beginning saying "who ya wit" was my assistant band director Mr. Lattimore.
I call Morris Brown the Sound of Atlanta and Pray that they will return in this fashion I live for this former member of a HBCU Marching Band I grew up in Vine City and fell in love with the sound.
I remember this like it was yesterday we were so hyped it was our last band performance everytime I watch this I get goose bumps. "Don't F**K Wit Me" and you couldn't F**K wit us the HBCU band aren't the same without us.
This band was still present… a lot of schools outside of GA wouldn’t have as strong recruiting numbers from the Atlanta area at all. Soon as this school opens back up… days are numbered concerning GA recruitment outside the state
I always thought and hoped Morris Brown would make a true comeback! They are the reason I ever joined the marching band. They lost their accreditation the year I was graduating. My high school stole most of our style from them.
Man I remember them in the late 70s. They didn't play then and was still going in the early 2000s. If they were around today they would be s force forced to be recconed with. Always loved them. They always came with it.
You Trippn bruh MBC didn't give any fucks about what band they faced. Shit SU, JSU, Famu, BCU, SCSU, ASU, TSU all them bands could get the business honestly from Morris Brown.
Gentleman1911, were you part of horsepower cuz you have alot of their videos. Also, I thoroughly appreciate the quality of video you have. They are very clear and I'm able to capture the spirit of the bands. Especially this honda battle video.
You also need to remember that this clip was from the first Honda. Folks really were not posting stuff out on he net like that until now. I just happen to have an archive and pulled it out to share.
MBC crunk them boys man. Eddie Ellis came to the front at the end like he didn’t know what was going on. Lol If I were drum major, I would’ve gladly taken that reprimanding. Legendary video.
+Dope I couldn't even call this a battle for real. U can't compare them cause u couldn't get Tsu real sound for real cuz the brass were in the back. Tsu would have cranked on them for real if they switched their formation.
I need to be in that "..hot tub time machine" movie so I could go back to this day and time and rock with MBC. "OOOOOO-OOOOOO OOO-OOOO-OOOOOOOO OOO-OOOOOOO OOOOO DON'T FUCK WIT' ME!!!!!!!!" "Y U ACKIN LIK'A..... B-AH, B-AHHH" "U SKED! U SKED (ho!)"
