I find my Morris Minor Traveller has a dangerous fault - the brake lights aren't working. I diagnose and repair the fault - classic car so it's an easy repair. I also introduce a new tool I have acquired and try it out.

The first car I ever remember riding in! Belonged to my grandfather and my mother was learning to drive in it. Same colour. Wish I had one 👍🏻

Best car I ever owned, same colour four door. 231 LMM. Way back 1965. The hole in the door looks like aus to me. Where I bin since 73.

I gave up on those switches and fitted the plunger type from a later MGB on a home made bracket. Also has the advantage it brings the lights on as soon as you press the pedal, it doesn’t wait until you have pressed hard enough to create enough pressure to activate the switch.

My late father had a black 1000cc Traveller for many years. 207 ATG. The one thing I remember the most is the moss that used to grow in the sliding window channels.

Love the sound of the lucas petrol pump points clicking away when you switch on.😂 takes me back to my first Moggie in the 60s when I carried a spanner to give it a clout when it seized.😂😂😂

I had no end of troubles with those new brake light switches on my Minor, they seemed to keep failing roughly every 500 miles. Decided to wire up a relay in the end to take the load off of the brake light switch which seems to have helped massively. Did the job at the end of February and so far completed about 4,000 miles and it's still working as well as it did when it was fitted.

I have heard rumours about them from other manufacturers with identical switches so I've bought a spare too. The poor quality of replacement parts is a deep concern!

Great video. Garage looks really practical.

It's a decent width and there's feasibility of extending out the back.

👍👍👍that lift does look a bit iffy ian. I don’t think I’d wanna be underneath🤔🤔🤔

Very true. I'm getting some axle stands with a greater reach. Safe with 2 wheels on ground but otherwise yes a bit iffy!

Did you get any problems achieving a firm brake pedal after replacement of the switch? It is often reported that getting rid of air bubbles trapped in the switch are difficult to remove. Some advocate loosening the switch to allow air/fluid to escape whilst a second person operates the brake pedal before screwing it firmly down.

When installed correctly, no. When I installed without the washer, yes with brake fluid leaking out of the switch. I think the switch is longer than it should be and the washer is to give it clearance.

Yeah there's going to be some extra tall axle stands added to the menagerie of equipment at some point

I've made a vast improvement to the brakes. Servo assisted discs. Stops like a modern car.

Moss . remove With Tooth Brush, Soft Soap. Once Dried Use Silicone Spray For Electric Car Window Glass. Wipe Exses Of. That Will Stop Mosss For A Long Time. then Repeat.

Fortunately as the car is kept in a warm garage (under my living room) it's moss free 😀
