You're 100% right & I recognise aspergers in him...His social anxiety has increased as he's grown older I've been studying his behaviour fromthe 80s onwards...Watch him performing now 2022&23 and watch his facial expressions and body language onstage...
I imagine Morrissey is one of the most challenging people to get to know, but he is a master poet, one of the greatest songwriters of the last fifty years and one of our greatest living Brits. What an icon. We Brits love an eccentric and Morrissey is the eccentrics eccentric. His lyrics are some of the most extraordinary moments in pop history. I love how he used to idolise pop stars and is now an idol.
He would be if you insist on pestering him to be friends. He'd have more respect for you if you just leave him well alone apart from the occasional 'morning!' when passing by.
Well done with your ignorance. His mother and father are from Dublin. Here is an actually quote from Morrissey regarding his accent "Because I don't think I've ever really had a Manchester accent. The accent is really quite broad, whereas I've always had a very flat accent - there's a soft lilt in there somewhere. But then you have to remember my background. My parents are from Dublin, they met and married there"
So glad to see him in concert in 2003 at the Albert Hall he sang all the new songs and the crowd was pure genuine smiths and Morrissey real fans I’ll never forger when he closed the concert with there’s a light..... those memories will stay with me
Probably the most difficult person to interview! The look on JH's face says it all!! Morrisey is a legend though and we all love him!! He's such an intelligent chap! 😊
Not too surprising they didn't see eye to eye; Sarf Londoner (I went to School with Jools at Shooters Hill )v South Manc Irish; Straight v semi closeted Gay. Someone who only moved a few miles down the road to Isle of Grain v Expat...and, dare I say it, reasonably happy, if oikish, schooldays (like I said I knew him there) v unhappy brutish schooldays. Of such things we, and the differences between, are made- and they aren't bridged by quick promo interviews.
Jools seemed very annoyed with Morrissey not giving into his knock-knock joke. It's not Morrissey's style to lower one's self in that way. Always being to true to himself. That's real honesty !!
2:50 just sums up this interview. There should be a counter at the side of the video counting up all the times Morrisey’s wit went over Jools’ head. Priceless
I don’t believe Moz dislikes Jools. I think it depends on his mood on the day. He was good on most of his questions actually. Jools was correct on it being 9 years since the prior appearance, Moz has to disagree because he’s a difficult personality.
2.02 I dont think I've ever heard anyone better describe what being from the North of England means to Northerners. It stopped me in my tracks. I think I'll remember that
Invariably Morrissey loves to make the interviewers cringe, I don't get why he 'allows' himself to be interviewed if he seemingly hates it so much. I like his music but don't like his interviews.
Seb Lo why? I moved away from Manchester, I now live in Bangkok. Some of the best food in the world is cooked up here, however I still miss home cooked English (Manchester) food, also some of the best food in the world. When you say "UK", that's too broad, it all depends on who is cooking the food.
Seb Lo happiness, age and less overthinking (stress consume calories) maybe? Gaining weight doesn't equate to quality food, it just means one eats more carbs and protein and is in good mental shape (the opposite can be said of obese people). I've become 15kg heavier living in Thailand and the food here is far less hearty than the food in England, I just eat more due to being in good mental shape.
1. After all the what? I think you're wrong there, Jools. I'll tell you later. 2. I'm not that old, I don't know. I AM NOT NERVOUS. 3. I didn't have a deal. I was looking for a deal. And I couldn't find one. 4. As long as you don't meet people. 5. I like the trees and I like the sky. 6. You wouldn't understand. When you're Northern, you're Northern forever and you're instilled with a certain feel for life that you can't get rid of. You really can't. 7. I'm not joining in. No, Jools I refuse to open the door. I'm not curious. 8. Yesssss. Well, what would any 30 year old want? I've just answered that question. 9. To pprrrfffff. And I'd be happy. *points at himself*. It's on the carts, surely. It's unavoidable, really. I've never been so insulted. But I'll try to pick up the pieces and I'll carry on with life. 10. I'd be terribly embarrassed, but I think you should do it. 11. Louder! Louder! (Louder than bombs xd) Thank you, thank you. 12. No, it's made me quite happy. I'll just stay in bed. Yeeeaaasssss yeeeaaasss like any other day. 13. I refuse. I'm out.
Morrissey is a complete one off. He’s a genius and so funny. Funnily enough If we met we probably wouldn’t get along because I’m a charming man with a big mouth, my girlfriends in a coma and heaven knows I’m miserable now. I love ya Morrissey
It must be nice to be so famous that you don't have to make any effort in interviews and people interpret that as praise worthy and profound. It's annoying that all northerners think everyone south of Biringham are all sipping champagne and would never understand.
I have to agree. I'm northern but I don't think it imbues me with some transcendent view of life superior to other areas. There are some great people from Wiltshire, Cornwall, Kent. It's all a load of self-mythology. The North is not devoid of twats or idiots, same as other places. . I once knew a lad from Glasgow who scoffed when I mentioned 'northerners'. Manchester is over 200 miles south of Glasgow.
I feel kind of bad that Morrissey has to put up with this type of "interviewer". Yes, Moz is not a 'nice guy', but jesus that was to cringe for... Still, not the worst interview ever. Just a really bad one.
