the swiss army knife carried by their armed forces is called the swiss army soldier's knife that is common knowledge perhaps lost on this dear old gentleman however the origins of what is known as the swiss army knife nowadays was the soldiers knife after they were asked to design one it was a simple function knife that has evolved from there.The other points made by this gentleman are very good advice though, care should be taken with all knives,most of us carry and maintain very sharp knives and caution should be observed always.

Great stuff from a master

Say Heah Mr. Mors, Yeah, because of you I had Rod make me a 4" with more belly on my Skookum Bush Tool, I also had it made in 3V, It might be a harder steel to sharpen, but I try never to get it that dull so I strop it to shaving sharp, and that curved belly is a awesome slicer and it's one of my Fav's, Thanx, Mors. I might not live in England, but in a Flat State and we have our share of brambles especially in the summer. I bought me a Long Knife that actually is very versital, it's a Rodent Rucki it's about a 15" blade and it has a choil, and it's thick enough that I can baton reasonable logs with it. I also have a Ka-Bar Johnson Adventure Parangatang that I use to give my Rucki a rest. I got a real good price that I got a nice match for it and that's my Potbelly, I also can use the Potbelly as a one tool option, although I carry my Top's Mini Scandi 2.5 with it. Thanx again, but this video reminded me if how I use a long lanyard, I love a large knife for my survival knife. I tie a lanyard to my bisep tgen I hold the tip of my large knife and the weight is supported by the lanyard as then I can skin and clean game and fush, I can even use blades that are much longer like my Rucki and my Parangatang by just holding my hand close to the tip I get excellent control, Thanx for the reminder.

for sure this gentleman is the guru. just some notes: imo he carries the knife too close to his neck. OK I know it works for him very well but others (less experienced like me) pls dont do that. keep the lanyard longer. also dont practice swinging the knife tied to a stick. keep in mind that very few ppl are as experienced as Mr MK and there are many ''unlucky'' ppl out in the world as well. thanks for the video.

Is that all fuss really important?I personaly do not see any utility in those folders (well, perhaps the tweezers)…and even less in who makes them!About the use of the knive as a sickle, of course it is not the intended use, but the needed use! We all use knives for not intended purposes (from "hatchets" in batonning, to forks for food; from spears to sickles, from striking a ferrorod or flint to "supports" for foot or hand in climbing...and none of them is very "healthy" for the knives!

Like all people, "wilderness experts" are about "half-right" most of the time and need to be evaluated critically. Mors is an instructing icon and can be given a few passes...He's "half-right" about the Swiss Army Knife, however, it did indeed originate as the Swiss Soldier's Knife made by the same people that make the "tricked-out" versions today. But, who in their right mind would ever, ever use their knife tied to the end of a stick as a sickle!!?? A perfect way to loose their most important bushcraft/survival tool as it goes flying off into the deep bush! Yikes!
