maybe but he was guilty.He was scheming to take back his throne,that's why he tried to flee to Belgium and did not stay in France and accepted a constitutional monarchy like the English kings did.

During the Revolution, the people mostly disliked the Aristocrats, rather than the King. During the meetings of the National Assembly, most members of the Third Estate would cry out ''Vive Louis, Vive le Roi.'' It was only after the Flight to Varennes in 1791 that the people largely turned against him. By the way, Varennes is in France, not Belgium.
