I bought this album a few days ago. The record is green, and It came with a book about each song and how to help your plants depending on how they are looking. It also had a digital download card, and on the back it said it was made out of wild flower seeds, and that you can plant it and they will grow. Cutest shit ever.
At one point, this album was very nearly out-of-print and lost to history. But one customer held on to their free copy from the mattress store. The rest is history.
how do we know that? Edit: Oh, I see, it's mentioned on the website link in the description. Sorry, just trying to find the context for your statement. Cool backstory!

thanks to this album, the damage the bonsai received from being amputated frequently has decreased drastically, however, it will be forever traumatised from it being constantly amputated.
Someone way cooler than me on a deleted bootleg post: Is this what they call avant- *G* *A* *R* *D* *E* *N* ? Also remember the story of a guy who owned an original copy of the album that belonged to his grandfather and every time he played it, it seemed like the old man was back with him. Comments like these don't deserve to be forgotten.
It always makes me sad when i hear people refer to electronic music from the 90s as ''Old electronic music'' because it points to the sad fact that in a lot of ways electronic music from the 60s and 70s are just gone from the public consciousness, there are so many people out there who unironically think electronic music was invented in the 80s.
@@tth547 you've got some good english homie, no worries, i cant go in depth into the wizards game but some of the sounds do remind me of old nes sound effects some games had back then
right? electronic music from the 70's and 80's was about utilizing synthesizers to make music in more traditional ways, it put the musicality at the forefront, from the 90's on it was either chopping up a sample and adding a beat or just being repetitive, i miss real electronic music
@@rayzojams holy shit who knew I'd find a fellow pokéfan on a video for an album for plants that I remember about and come back to every 3-5 years or so...
It was rare and now were going back to being about olants and nature and young people like records again so its being repressed honestly a beautiful ending.
I brought up this album once in a discord server and immediately got bullied and told me I was a retard for thinking everyone doesn't already know about this album. That's the fastest I've ever left a server
It would make for some wonderfully awkward holiday conversations. No, I swear Grandpa, the whole album’s to help your plants grow and it’s by the same guy who made that Satanic Black Mass LP. Isn’t that great, Grandpa? Want some more gravy? You know what got Mort Garson a lot of gravy? The LP with the sexy synth sounds and the orgasms. Was that what you were doing in the 1970s, Grandpa? Orgies and such?
It's somehow still very relevant. Machine girl even features a bit of the second track on their Ugly Art record, specifically on the track fullmetal dipshit.
Swingin' Spathiphyllums at 19:44 is the best. It has this elevator style, kinda like a futuristic sightseeing tour in a perfect, utopic world full of plants and happiness. This album would also fit very well as the soundtrack to pretty much any 2D sidescroller like Shovelknight, Rogue Legacy, etc.
Back in early 2019, I owned a hamster, his name was Momo. He had very long fluffy fur and was peach-colored.🍑 I was very very dedicated to taking care of him as much as I could. The biggest cage I could build, the best food and water, stuffing, and all the enrichment I could give. Unfortunately, he fell ill due to an eye infection. My dad helped me with the medication and all the very expensive vet appointments. Yet Momo still continued to be sick no matter what I did. After an extremely stressful day of vet appointments and crying, I played this video out loud to help myself and hopefully ease Momo. Momo was in lots of pain due to intestinal bloating and I just wanted this to be easier. Not long after I found that Momo had passed away while I played Plantasia. I associate the song Plantasia with Momo and I would like to believe he passed away in his sleep while he listened. I know it may sound silly to be so worked up due to a rodent but I loved him very very much. Finally, after two years I listened to this again and had my final cry. I can now listen to this and be okay. 🧸💕 Edit 2023: I still cry to the first song but that's okay :)
It doesn't sound silly at all, it shows how much loved him and this is a very sweet harmonious melody to attach to your last memory with him ❤I hope he's running in fields and gnawing on his favorite treats with this soundscape in the background :)
By listening to this record, my roots have plumbed deep and Stygian caverns, and my trunk has grown gnarled and massive. My leaves gush from every limb. Thanks, Mort!
OVERJOYED that this album is here for free on youtube, listening to these songs literally flips a switch that instantly activates all the happy jucies in my brain, truly a plant lovers dream
I feel somewhere else when I hear this. Does anyone relate to this or am I mad? It doesn't feel "normal", in no way wrong but I get memories that I didn't experienced while listening to this.
Genuinely I never thought I would like this type of music. I’m really fussy when it comes to anything soundtrack or slightly gimmicky but this music is really beautiful and calming. I’d happily get reincarnated as a plant now.
I've been trying to discover different music lately and I've overlooked how quickly the RU-vid algorithm adapts. My homepage has officially turned into a gold mine. It was enough to just like a few albums for my entire homepage to be filled with albums. I'm definitely not complaining lol. Exploring with Spotify is also a great option, but RU-vid is definitely better at adapting to what you're looking for and offering you as much as you don't want, whatever you're interested in. When I finish listening to the album, my transformation will be complete and I will start photosynthesizing. My fingers have already started to turn green under the influence of chlorophyll. Amazing work!
People who come into my house always comment on my jungle and how healthy and good my plants look. many say they look fake and ask me my secret. i tell them i talk to them, hang out with them, have physical contact with them and play music for them. they think im nuts but i feel like some people here might understand what i do. Plants are living and just like people or animals, react to their environment. A toxic environment leads to ill plants where a healthy nurturing one leads to happy plants. Just ordered this on vinyl and me and my plants cant wait. Oh yea, if anyone here likes metal check out botanist. A one man black metal band with a hammer dulcimer instead of guitars. Has a great story about plants taking over the earth as they are its rightful inheritors.
I can't believe this came out in 1976. I can just imagine going to the record store with friends and everyone pitching in to buy this album. Everyone huddled eagerly over the record player with their favorite plant next to the speakers. Then trying to come up with dance moves for each variety of plant based on how they feel it would like to dance. How would your favorite plant like to dance>?
May whatever God or deity you believe in, whether it is nothing or simply the seeming consciousness that intertwines us all, bless you with great fulfillment and satisfaction on your upcoming birthdays, as well as every day that it may be wanted or necessary for you to carry on fruitfully. Happy birthday, my fellow Earth sibling.
I’ve known about Plantasia for a few years now but I never listened to the full album and my jaw dropped when I found out it was from here! No wonder I liked it!
I play this album every year for my garden. I forgot to play it while plantimg them this year. And now they are not growing well. Started playing this again and now they are getting better☺
discovered it buy searching new sounds in the style of mike dean but with a focus on soviet/balkan 60s childhood mixed with futuristic sound. I stumbled upon a reddit post where someone recommended this. great gem
I think a lot of people don't even care about the history of most music and how it came to be. I am a source man and love to follow the breadcrumb trail as far back as I can go. In my mind... WHY WOULDN'T YOU? Mort and Delia are giants! This is perfect for anyone who remotely cares about that journey. What a wonderful album..
One of the strangest ideas for an album I've seen, but amazing nonetheless. "Ode to an African Violet" at 9:05 is my personal favorite -- it creates such a beautiful, indescribable feeling within.
बहुत सुंदर और प्रेरणादायक संगीत। Очень красивая и вдохновляющая музыка. とても美しく刺激的な音楽。 Çok güzel ve ilham verici müzik. Mycket vacker och inspirerande musik. খুব সুন্দর এবং অনুপ্রেরণামূলক সংগীত। موسيقى جميلة جدا وملهمة. Musique très belle et inspirante. Música muy hermosa e inspiradora. Very beautiful and inspiring music.
That's cuz Koji Kondo is low-key a plagiarist. Just kidding but seriously though i think he has mentioned Zelda's Lullaby being directly inspired by that song.
Mort Garson and Bruce Haack have really garnered my attention with their early electronic music pioneering in recent months. Can't forget Wendy Carlos though. Love revisiting them once in ahwile.
I just found out about this album about a week ago and have listened to it every day since. I remember thinking how much I would love for an official release to happen, and here it is. The vinyl comes out in June. What a perfect time!
I've actually found that my plant does enjoy this album! I can watch his leaves moves towards the sound as it plays. I leave it on for him sometimes when I leave for a bit and he seems very happy when I get back
I sometimes listen to this when researching my family tree. It really sets the mood when looking for ancestors in 1500-1800s Europe, studying their home villages, way of life, etc. Even better if you've managed to trace back to early medieval times.
I have the original vinyl with the additional book and it’s just beautiful! One of my favorite electronic albums of all time. I also bought the green edition today. I wonder how the recording compares to the original.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS RELEASE. I discovered this album last year and played it very consistently for months and loved Mort's melodies through the whole thing. I was really bummed to find out the original release was going for $200+ and the bootleg print was poor quality, and the answer is your efforts here now! Thank you!
