You used Tanya’s seeking guidance dash wrong. It’s literally the forward forward dash that gets buffed and she also gets access to the MKX up teleport. Also the teleport always hits as an anti air

The teleport after her buff isn’t the dash they referred to in the move list. You can dash cancel by using normal attacks instead of blocking with Tanya when she’s buffed

I’m using her with Stryker so I can get more 50 50’s you can def combo into Stryker grenades but u have to adjust the timing, I also tried her with Jax and his grab combos very easy after drill but not a big fan of lack of low mix. But ground pound plus her Tarzan kick allows you to get alot of chip damage into unblock able pretty safely.

Tanya is really good. Keep an eye on Dragon. He is playing her with Goro. Remember that I said she was good. You are gonna start to see her show up real soon. She is gonna take time to properly develop.

Tanya has had a very rough path through MK1, first her design that a lot of people didn't like and now that she is very weak in competitive but to be honest I still like her and I hope she gets the improvments she deserves.

Anyway, there are pretty women in every race that everyone can like. There are also not so good looking people in every race that most people aren’t going to identify as pretty. Tanya happens to be the not so pretty category where most people do not see it as an attractive design.

I main tanya, I don't consider her to be super strong or anything by any means, but I feel that you are missing a lot of things about her: - Yes, her damage is low, because she is not supposed to have high damage. She has crazy range with her 3, and even her F2 mid is really good range. She'd be S+++ if she'd be able to deal 430+ dmg along with her range. - Yes, she may not work that well with Sareena (even though she can go over 400dmg with double Sareena), but this is again nothing special. Many characters don't work with Sareena. Tanya works best with Goro, so far. With Goro, not only that her armor becomes +12 on block, but she can also extend it and deal over 200dmg (not bad for an armor wake-up). - She can easily charge-up her buff after a hard knock-down or even while pressuring. You can easily do F2 - charge - F211 - charge or anything along the lines of that. The charge acts like a cancel, similar to the parry of kotal kahn in mk11, as it's really fast. I never felt the charge to be tedious or anythin. - Having the charge up at all times is NOT a requirement, but rather an extra option. There are times when you'd rather stay at distance against certain characters, and the dash will not even help you that much, you're better off playing keep-away. - Yes, the opponent can duck under you 3. But that's where the mid comes into play. Your F2 has about half the range of your 3. They will want to duck your 3, and that gives you easy access to open the opponent with a dash F2, - Her parry is quite lacking, yeah, I'm not seeing it used too much. But again, that does not define a character. If anything, it's again just an extra option. These being said, I don't consider tanya to be weak, but maybe she could use a little buff to be closer to the big top characters. However, if buffed too much, she could easily take over as her kit is strong. Also, as a note, I feel that in your videos you could include learning from other players. At the moment, Dragon is playing a pretty damn solid Tanya against other top players and he's having success with her. If you'd watch at least 10 minutes of Dragon playing Tanya you'd understand the character 5 times better than doing the in-game combo trials. Fun Fact: Ashrah is really close to tanya, playstyle-wise. She also has a long-range high and higher damage (can get closer to 400 dmg with ease), but she lacks a good mid and proper zoning tools (Tanya's projectile really isn't that bad). I mained ashrah before tanya, and when I discovered tanya I happily traded the extra damage for extra tools.

I love this. And I agree. She needs only a few adjustments and she’ll be super solid. Would love her drill to be a low or even become low using a meter. This adds more mixup potential for her. I avoid using drill unless it’s via combo Bc it’s super punishable. I think her parry and charge should be used more by the players interchangeably. When you start to use both skills, opponents begin to become more defensive. Sometimes they think you’re charging so they’ll try to attack you and you’re actually doing the parry and vice versa. Her parry is best during some wakeups but mainly during short strings especially if they are blocked. The only thing to worry about are characters who’s combos start with lows. A good opponent will clock it eventually.

I honestly think her parry is kinda dirty lol Parries throws, anything mid and high. Having it be weak to lows and jump ins/overheads is pretty fair. One of the best times to use it for me is in the corner or you being cornered where you they’re gonna mashing you. It almost always catches them off guard cuz only thing you gotta guess in that situation is if they’re mixing you low lol

Great video! I’ve been tryna play as her and I’ve been finding it pretty difficult but idk anything about frames and all. ANYWAY. PLEASE look at Shang tsung and shujinko, they have some of the weirdest potential in the game. you could use Shang Tsung to become the other fighter, while shujinko copies the other fighters special moves as well, you could just completely combo someone using their own move set as a kameo and your own. Just insanely interesting to me.

I like how they finally gave Tanya a unique weapon there's not anything stolen from other characters in the series. Also like the energy aspects of her moves and projectiles instead of fire stuff characters using fire are over used and more combat and need something else.

She had a hunting boomerang on MK4, exclusive to her. Boomerangs are/were used as weapons by Australian natives and hunters nowadays. Don't ignore stuff for your convenience.

I think her teleport needs fine tuning. Sometimes I’m ported behind the enemy, other times I remain in front of the enemy. It’s quite frustrating. I know they’re limiting tanya Bc of how her teleport was super busted in MKX. I don’t mind the meter burn for teleport to damage. Bc I like to mix up the regular and meter versions to trip up opponents.

Say UnderDawg you mind if you go more in-depth about the various Kameo? Cause I have NOT seen any videos where anyone talk about what makes each one unique and I think that would be really helpful. Also I hear you can Meter-burn some Kameo Moves. In example I hear you can Meter-Burn Jax grab but also you can Meter-burn Cyrax’s too. Can all Kameos be enhanced?

I did a little trial with Tanya to get an idea of how she works, mostly because there was a daily mission that says "enter practice mode 5 times" so I decided to give a few characters a little overview. Her B2 alone can be used as a combo extender because it works like a boomerang and, to my surprise, her F4 can be followed up with her B2 for a short meterless combo. Still Tanya's damage is pretty low and while her parry does charge her glowing disk after a successful block, it needs a good reason to spend a bar for the push unless you are able to act immediately after the parry with a forward dash.

Bb2 can be followed up with the 3 overhead OR 2, 1+3 for a basic combo or full combo with 1 meter used. Also great for anti airs at very long distances.

tanya is so overlooked in this game it’s actually unbelievable, she has arguably one of the best neutral games, possibly the best mid in the game, crazy staggers and decent combo damage and on top of all that really good chip damage. her spinning dash thing is full screen, her projectile enhanced eats other projectiles, there’s so much to this character. with her insane mid and ridiculous range i highly suggest you try this character out i easily got grandmaster with this character

Right. But she can combo from almost full screen. I put her w/ Frost and convert 30-34% off every touch into oki and/or Frost ball corner pressure. She's not bad, just unorthodox.

No she can't. Dash cancel standing 3 is the longest range normal in the game by a wide margin. With her buff up, it's hitting from 8/10 of a screen away and is special cancelable into a full combo on hit. On block the teleport gives you stagger pressure and mix. Pair that with frost kameo and you have a 50/50 cuz if you neutral duck the standing 3, you risk getting combo'd by the low frost kameo. If you say that other characters have better strengths/gameplans, I agree with you. But nobody does what she does better than she does.

i've paired Tanya with Frost. Her standing 3 max range into Frost's ground freeze will combo.. FROM MAX range. At max range, it's also unpunishable, unless you're playing someone like Liu Kang or Mileena that have specials that can punish. F,2,1,1,2 -> the last option is an overhead; Frost's ground freeze is a low; this gives her a bit of a mixup. It's really all about experiment and trying out the right kameo's. Personally, I don't think her teleport dash should require installs and wish she had her old split kick as an overhead for a mixup.

Me personally I’m 40-16 in kombat league with Tanya 😂 and a few of those losses were cause of black screen. I wouldn’t say she’s as bad as everyone makes her out to be cause I haven’t lost many sets with Tanya and she’s easy for me to play. But hopefully they buff her more if everyone thinks she’s bad lol 😂

I think they altered her completely different in terms of gameplay! She has no tonfas, no pyromancer powers, no split kick! She has new moves, weapon and magic and that’s a shame….Other than her drill kick nothing is like Tanya we knew and loved! I do like her gameplay but that’s not Tanya…her design on the other hand is perfect for her as a black woman!

same, but it's what they did to her personality I hate the most, I could live with her redesign and ugly hairstyle, and even live with the fact the ruined her playstyle giving her no low or overhead specials when that was her iconic feature since her introduction in MK4... But I just can't get over what they did to her personality, she went from being one of the most charming and likeable characters to super unlikeable.

Tanya is a solid defensive ranged character. Using the right cameo can make her harder to approach. Also the forward 4, you can combo that to many things. I agree on the damage buff.

@@_slyphI think Goro is best. He’s great at adding plus frames to all of her strings and specials on block. Some will think it’s their turn on certain strings and it’s not. He’s also great with mixups. You may get an opponent who crouch blocks a lot! Goro has a move that launches crouching opponents (or during aground string). I like using it if players start to read my b344. And stay blocking low.

I came to here as a Jade replacement, I like her huge toolkit and the fact that not many are overly familiar with her options helps. She needs a bit more damage and she will be fine. When it comes to Kameo usage, they player has the choice to use Kameo as Kombo extender or to make some of her unsafe specials/moves safer. The second one seems a better option. So in summary she doesn't need a buff, she is fine, around mid tier for this game.

Can you say again in another video how realy awful is the 'kombo menu'? Shao Kahn has all start-up wrong (at least on pc). Also, Havik has some realy looong numbers on the damage. As you said on previous videos, they kinda rush the game to release on date. You worked with animations and 3D design, you know how hard is to fix or to do something in a rush. I'm a programmer, I also know this kinda pressure, if they left that behind, it's because they had to fix something realy bad. But they also know that the fighting game players seek first this informations.

i love tanya but it’s so frustrating playing her when all you’re doing is hitting people that block cause she has 0 mixups and one mid, and then once you do get a combo in it’s unrewarding cause of her low damage

Lots of ways to get the hit with her, actually. I'd suggest you watch Dragon's matches or some of the recent tournaments, like Pluralmite in top 24 of CEOtaku. Goro assist helps a ton.

It's weird to hear that it doesn't work on those characters, but the combo you should be doing is F4, F4, dahs, 2, 1+3, into special ender.

A tanya just got 9th at CEOTaku lol. I don't think she's bad she's just "boring" to some I guess. I also feel that a lot of people are super deep into and blinded by the low hanging fruit that is "damage" in this game. Eventually damage and REAL dirty stuff will get nerfed or changed and you're just left with mostly neutral, resets, solid damage and fundamental play and a lot of folks won't know what to do when their "combo doesn't kill". She's not bad, just not in the current common "meta" yet aka damage

I just beat a baraka and cyrax main in Kombat league. He was 44-15 until he tasted the wrath of my Tanya and Jax alliance. 43-16 but Tanya is “soo bad” apparently 😂

Frost is great with Tanya, especially when staggering her forward 2,1,1,2 string which ends in overhead, you could stagger forward 2,1,1 into low freeze for a mind game, while also shortening the string to just forward 2 and grabbing to keep your opponent guessing

Tanya in mk11 was GOLD. Even her look was amazing. I love Tanyas look here too, but her moveset was so much better and easier to pull off combos in MK11.
