Personally I'm disappointed. With baraka you can get much higher damaging combos for 1 bar of meter compared to Havik. HV's normal DB1 not launching when ur hit (the normal db1 also has armor) and instead knocking down like the EX version sucks as it's too slow. I thought it could be like a punish move, which it is but not to the same extent. You can use Kameos to guarantee it if cancelling it from a combo but its hard to do. I think they need to open him up just a bit and I'll be very happy. I just thought of this now, but imagine Havik having a Limb system for combos, where some moves remove a Limb, meaning it the move can't be used in the same combo effectively again. Let's say he breaks his hand off his arm for a punch, so the next time he uses a move that would break off that hand, he instead uses his spikes / bones (can't tell which one it is) like in his super, and stabs them and throws them to the ground, ending the combo. Idk it sounds cool but tell me what you think. Overall I Like Havik's design and the body parts thing but I'm disappointed in his gameplay.

They made him pointless in the story mode tho but his gameplay was cool. NRS kinda dropped the ball on all the 3D era kharacters when it comes to making them actually interesting and compelling

No idea who havik was before MK1 but I instantly fell in love the second I saw this guy performing tactical self-mutilation and quite literally throwing hands. When I saw his release trailer I was really excited to try him and your video definitely helped me understand his mechanics. I recommend using Scorpion Kameo, you’ll be able to combo forward back 1 into his pop up air combo, not to mention the crazy corner combos. He’s is also able to create great space away from your opponent. Def my main, planned to main him before the game came out and he’s so much fun.

(Corner) 11, special move cancel, back forward 1, 1, SMC, back forward 1, R1, jumping 212, forward 2, SMC, amplified back forward 2. Low poke into forward R1. (After amplifying back forward 2) back forward 2 into down back 1, etc. Or just back R1 and spam. Have fun!

This was posted 6 days ago but for anyone who doesn’t know, you can choose the distance of the roll by holding back during the move. You’re leaving decent damage on the table by doing the roll after the projectile pop up. Also, I think sub zero is the best kameo for havik.

His aesthetic is perfect. But, I'm finding his playstyle way more basic than I'd hoped it would be. Lord of Chaos seems like he needs a playstyle that's more devious or confusing. On the other hand, I'm unexpectedly finding Ashrah to fulfill the playstyle expectations I had for Havik. Finding it much more possible to be confusing with her than with Havik. Great breakdown. Super easy to follow and cleared up my perspective on Havik after practicing with him for a bit.

I do ok with his basic kombos and mixups but I REALLY need to hit the lab and work on extending my attacks. Finding a lot of Raiden/Jax players that spam the same super long strings with easy startups and I need to find an answer for it. I can beat them sometimes but I need work. This is helpful. I noticed he didn’t mention this but for the down back 1 both version have armor the amplified version just has more (3-4 hits) and at least with the non amplified version if you get hit while doing it and the armor tanks it and you hit your enemy it does still do the plain knock down but that hit actually does increased damage

Loved the guide thank you! (The only thing I think would help me a bit more as a visual learner is if the name of the moves being used in the moves list were said instead of just "down 1 2" for example, but I think that language is MUCH more universal for fighting games in general so it's not an issue at all, I can always just translate it myself when looking at the moves list while practicing) Thank you!

Interesting that Havik's projectile becomes a juggle starter only when used in a combo (or enhanced). I like that they made him unusual in his play mechanics as well as his animations.

Hi man, great guide only for one thing you did not mention, it's that after the unblockable BF2 (called corpse taunt) there is huge down scale on the damage. A simple fatal blow can go from 320 to 218,5.

So i've found Sub-Zero is this mans cameo. the freeze of course but the ice armor allows him to do his fireballs without trouble against any non teleporting character for free

In concept, but NRS has a tendency to heavily lean on the features they introduce in each game to the point of neglecting others. The cameos become necessary to make up for what your character lacks, which is a purposeful design flaw by NRS. Look at subzeros slide. Normally it it is multi hitting and does decent damage. But meterburned it does less damage but it does a pop up and there is too much recovery for subzero to combo off so it looks pointless right? But the popup isnt for sub but a cameo to extend the pop up for when sub recovers then to combo, when the cameo becomes necessary is the issue. I want full characters with all their tools with the choice if a cameo. Not a required thing, but of course NRS will push that 100percent. The damage you get with is double anything a character can do alone. Idk man

I've had an idea for a special move for Havik which I call Body breaker. With the string from enhanced Blood bath connected Havik bends over and breaks his body once and back into place causing the opponent to do the same. This damages the opponent and grants Havik a temporary damage buff.

@@onestep Glad you think so. I think some characters are a bit light on special moves. For example, I think Li Mei's Sky lantern could have two enhanced versions to allow her to alter the speed of the lantern to being slow or fast.

Y can also do B2,2,BF1,EXBF2,BF2,DB1,2,FB for a crazy amount of damage but it's risky because they could break or if u drop it ur basically done for that pay of is good in my opinion tho

It’s cuz you’re doing F1 right before it, and to quickly trying to do DB4. The game is sensing a DB1 instead. Trying waiting just a second longer before doing DB4 again at the end

The f1 connecting after the bf1 in the combo at 9:11 doesn't constantly connect, it misses and same with the db4 after the f1 2, great video anyways.

I've been playing only Havik, that's my boy, but the tether is complete cheeks. You spend 2 bars of meter to get a free 30 DMG unblockable that sets you up for a combo. Sounds nice on paper, until you realize you do like, 50% less DMG when you use the tether stun. Not worth the 2 bars, you're better off saving it for a EX Helping Hand for the mega armor.

@@onestep i think it could work with frost as cameo, but still, its most likely very Hard to get a combo Hit. If it even comes to the Pro scene, i dont think there will be much of havik. Its really sad, i really like him

Is it me or MK1 is literally an improved version of MK11 ? I was hoping for something similar to MKX or IJ2, but I don't know, that's my perception about it.

@@onestepThen, that's a very good news for me, because I always preffered Injustice over MK. My thought about MK1 was only based on what I've seen. Starting with 19, I'll be able to play it myself and enjoy it at high level, if it's true that resembles with Injustice

Havik is a boss character and doesn’t hit like it at all. And, most of his moves are high start ups. I think he deserves a buff. All of his special attacks are very slow also. You can’t really use them to pressure.

He def needs a buff and he needs like 2 more strings to get some more options. He literally only has 4 starting strings and all except one are highs.

Anyone got any tips? Im struggling to pull off a combo ender after air 2 1 2. Ive got F1 DB4 but wondering if there is something else? I feel like Havik can do all this crazy stuff but I havent worked it out yet!

Doesn't have that variety of specials like the others but his pressure game is like no other. Though range is abysmal, if they can keep you away then you're gonna have a rough time relying on the BF2.

I feel like if he didnt have that command grab Ex he would be bottom tier, but getting hit with an unblockable combo starter after already being combo'd is really scary if you dont have the meter to break.

Id highly recommend using subzero as a kameo in some match ups(zoners), projectile armor allowing you to trade roll with projectiles and a mix up with f4 freeze and free db1 set up on any hit confirm like 22, f12 and b22

I'm very disappointed that he has like 4 strings and 0 overheads. It feels like there isn't much of a mind game with him and he just feels a little lackluster to play because of your lack of options imo. However you can say that about most characters in this game. I really like it so far but it really doesn't have a lot of combo strings. I was expecting more than MKX and 11 and instead we got less. Basically a downgraded characters to fit in kameos which I think is a little unfortunate.

perhaps it's too early to say but havik doesn't seem too good in this game. 😔 his damage is just way too low when a bunch of characters just shit out damage for free. i think he's supposed to be a pressure character, end every airborne stringe into his b f 1 projectile then go into plus frames and pressure. his advancing mid is good but i find it getting beat out a lot of the times.
