@Sam I did but then again I played them extensively in the arcades while waiting patiently for the Amiga ports. Mortal Kombat was ok if I remember. Street fighter 2 was terrible. US gold at its finest!

Fun fact: Liu Kang's Fatality was deliberately made non-violent as he is a Shaolin monk, thus seeking pacifistic ends. By MKII, he becomes more violent as his Shaolin brothers were slaughtered.

I had the SNES version. There were two Game Genie codes that were an absolutely must: one sped up the game slightly and made it play tighter. The other made the sweat look slightly red.

That sounds freakin awesome. I was a kid in the 90s, arcades were still around, but I had a hand me down NES and then Genesis so I guess I wasn't drawn to the arcade. It was a special treat to go to Nathan's though, which had a huge arcade attached to it.

Yea, he's talking about the neck fatal no doubt. I never had as big an issue with it as others did. I always took it as a joke/troll. Alot of fighting games have stuff like it. Sometimes even to the extent of including a whole character as a troll, like Dan in SF, Pichu in Melee, or Bo Rai Cho in MK. Smash has various stages and items that are basically trolls as well.

8:13 the idea is that he’s not actually killing his opponent because he’s a shoulin munk, I probably spelled that wrong, but regardless killing is a big no no for those guys. Also you can see it as more of taunt toward Shang Tsung, because liu isn’t killing his opponents he’s denying Shang the souls that would normally empower him.

Loading ruined it. Loading for each round, fatality, and even Shane’s morphs. The Music wasn’t programmed eighth either. Stages have the wrong songs. Genesis version was better in these ways.
