Dan Forden was (and still is) the audio genius behind Mortal Kombat. Here's a sneak peek at how he created some of the sounds with Ed Boon and Steve Ritchie. Watch Insert Coin free! linktr.ee/insertcoindoc
@@ViktorKruger99 the Yamaha soundboard it uses adds to the games atmosphere. Later games had great sound design too, but MK1 grabbed you by the cojones.
@@aakarmamtora3470 MK9 and X are genuinely solid fighting games that I still play to this day. But there's an element to them that's lost that the arcade MKs had. Maybe because it went from a passion project from a bunch of pinball guys to being a juggernaut of entertainment. Maybe it's because Tobias isn't involved. Who's to say.
@@mostverticalproductions4808the arcade scene for fighting games in general was truly an awesome experience. Unfortunately consoles got to powerful (PS2, X-Box, Game Cube) and the arcade scene fizzled out.
Best announcer ever.... I would pay a big chunk of money to have him narrate MK games again... Such a legend and nice guy all around... Also cool to see Ed and Dan. Love you guys
I would love to have a immitator for the new Mortal Kombat. I know Steve Ritchie had tinnitus and I think he's deaf now, and that's so sad. But I miss his voice so much
@@ermacn.cheese726 prob out of context like a majority of the internet clips but id imagine its not easy making video games, i watched documentaries on ed boon getting to the studio at like 5am and shit
Very cool! Very neat to see how the sounds were made. So much work went into that game and it came out very well! Mortal Kombat 3's soundtrack has to be my favorite!
Siempre quise saber quién estaba detrás de la voz de presentación de cada round, fatality, animality, friendships, babality y brutality. Ahora lo sé, gracias 😃
From the file names in the source code we can see: Ed Boon - Jax, Kano, and Shang Tsung Peg Burr - Sindel, and Sonya Dan Forden - Nightwolf Jon Hey - Kung Lao, and Sub-Zero Ann Mazza - Sheeva Vince Pontarelli - Kabal, and Stryker We also know Steve Ritchie does Shao Kahn, but Liu Kang and Cyrax/Sektor/Smoke are uncredited (but are probably Ed Boon and Dan Forden, respectively).
Sub-Zero’s voice should be the very same as Nightwolf(Dan Forden)! Jon Hey(that matches perfect with Johnny Cage in MKT) doesnt match with him! BTW! Ed Boon’s voice just doesnt match with Shang Tsung, but fits perfectly with Jax, mainly! And… who did MK2 male voice?
@@apealeal3973 oh, I'm already on Fightcade, but now I play only coop games. I still play MK3 offline a lot, you may want to check out my last gameplay on my channel. 😀
so that guy was the voice behing, very good sounded better than what they have today, no wonder people were realy focused in the old time and did a great job
Back when Mortal Kombat soundtrack was 🔥🔥🔥 MK11 and MK1(2023) soundtrack are with all respect lackluster in my opinion, they don't have that MK feel anymore..
Old school hardware analog sounds way ahead of the cheap digital garbage they putting out these days. No wonder MK1-3 had a true distinctive sound modern cant touch
The sound hardware between the first three MK games are different; MK1 used the Yamaha YM2151-based FM sound board that been used since the System 11 era (starting with 1986’s Road Kings), but upgraded the speech chip to the OKI ADPCM, which sounds a lot better than the Harris CVSD chip used in Williams’s pinball games. MK2 and MK3, meanwhile, used the DCS Sound System, which is like playing four MP3s simultaneously. MK2 and Indiana Jones: The Pinball Adventure were the first games to use DCS.
