The first Mortal Kombat film is genuinely one of my favourite films of all time, not even as a guilty pleasure.

Johnny Cage was my favorite character in the first film, when he died in this one I was too pissed to realize the actor was different.

Finally, they talked about Billy's brother playing in the new MK movie. I've been waiting for them to address it.

That techno theme song is still ICONIC.

I remember as a Kid Jax's scene where he took his arms off to whoop Motaro motivated me so Much (Hence why he's the 1st half of my username xD) & that I only enjoyed this movie for him and the Music that played all through the movie. The MK Movie Soundtracks were Always great lmao

This was released around the same year as Spawn. With the exception of Men in Black and Titanic, 1997 was not a good year for cinematic visual effects.

This movie is bad to the point of being highly entertaining. You can watch and laugh at it with friends. You can watch and laugh at it alone. You can watch and laugh at it, period. So, despite its endless flaws , MK: Annihilation is alright by me.

I've been waiting for this review forever. Literally the only redeeming thing about this movie is that Ray Park was Raiden's stunt double, so I like to think of this as as his audition for Darth Maul.

That guy who plays Shao Kahn is one of those actors-who-you-cannot-remember-the-name-of who appeared as a strongman in seemingly EVERY eighties and nineties action film. Just off the top of my head: Star Trek: Generations, Cobra, The Terminator, Alien Nation, Moon 44, Dragonheart and even the Three Amigos.

Remember guys, Lawrence Kasanoff, the same man responsible for Food Fight, produced, AND was one of the three people that wrote the story for Mortal Combat Annihilation… Which explains a LOT…

During the first scene of the movie, Rayden's hair starts out long, then is tied in a pony tail when he's fighting Shao Kahn, then his hair is let down again. Why the fu*k did they tied his hair in a pony tail?.. Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon hated the film. What a surprise LoL!.. Michael Jai White was scheduled to play as Jax, but eventually he got the lead part in Spawn (1997) instead. Smart move. Tony Jaa doubled for Robin Shou in quite a few stunt sequences. The late Thuy Trang, best known for playing Trini Kwan, the yellow ranger in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (1993) auditioned for Jade but was turned down. They denied the yellow power ranger, come on man. MKA often finds itself part of many top ten worst films of all time lists. (Mainstream/Hollywood movies) I'm sure there are even worst films than this one, like plenty of films. Sylvester Stallone reportedly turned down the role of Baraka. WTF?! Rambo being Baraka? Wonder who's idea was that.. In both Mortal Kombat movies, Johnny Cage's sunglasses break. Goro crushes the first set, and in the second movie, his second set break when trying to do a shadow kick against Khan. How many times are they gonna brake his glasses.. Now I gotta say I enjoyed the movie as a kid and now as an adult I still enjoy it since I don't take it seriously it's just fun to see movie based on one of the best games ever. There's always things you can find funny in films and bad too, I honestly can say it was more a enjoyable fun/funny movie rather than a bad movie. I thought Mortal Kombat was a bad movie when I first saw it. then I watched the sequel which made me realize that MK the Movie is actually just right! it did what the Street Fighter movie couldn't... adapt a video game to the big screen for its primary audience, adolescents, and provide an entertaining action flick. the only injustice was that Brandon Lee didn't live to play Lui Kang and Van Damme didn't commit to the awful Street Fighter instead of this one as Johnny Cage. MK Annihilation took the "Street Fighter Movie" approach, shoehorn as much material from the games into the movie as possible without any care for plausibility, consistency or quality... rather than just giving us a nice intro and outro as bookends for a series of kickass martial arts fights. if any doubt the influence of the MK movie, check out the story mode in MK9. heck, I hear they adapted the Shang Tsung actor's likeness in the new game. trouble is I wouldn't play it because its yet another franchise installment ruined by microtransactions...

Do the voice Raiden did when doing that flying move in the first game. 23:33 as a matter of fact, that's the shout. That meant he was doing the move and the writers were like "hey look, Raiden's doing the thing".

I thought everyone could easily do the voice that list off the roster of characters, until Korey gave his impression. 😆 The only thing more disappointing was that out of everything MK to make fun of, they didn't even mention the corny, classic cartoon series called "Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm". 🤦‍♂️ I knew that cartoon was crappy, even back when I was a kid. 🤣
