Just watched a video on how notoriously difficult this game was because of the AI being capable of inputing moves faster than a human could. You my man are a damn legend!
Thanks! .. Part of what makes speedrunning these games so enjoyable is knowing just how bs the AI is and learning how to bend it to your will. Plus .. someone has to get revenge for all those stolen quarters! >:)
Tenka, you're such a good man. It's nice to see a healthy speedrun sportmanship between you and BySpeed because it motivates each other to beat the clock. Love from 🇧🇷
Thanks! Yeah, Speedrunning is about community and helping each other to see the game beaten as fast as possible. Competition is good but ultimate goal is to improve yourself and push yourself to the limit. If we all band together to help each other it can make MK speedrunning great and really bring it to light!
Awesome. I was watching Speed trying to beat this record and someone said you did it with Reptile. That's amazing, I love to see different techniques in speedruns. Speed will keep trying. It's nice to see competition in retro games! Greetings from Brazil!
Thanks! ... When it comes to the "No HPT" category I believe theres actually several different characters that can contend for WR. I have since found new strategies with both Mileena and Liu Kang that can also get similar times. Speed is amazing, I just verified his new best time. He came extremely close to beating it! ... Amazing.
I grew up playing fighting games on PC from a young age. I played the MS-DOS versions of MK and SF among others, there were no good gamepads or fight sticks for PC in the 90's. Game pads were mostly limited to 4 buttons and were generally pretty bad. If you wanted to play the games properly you really had to learn to play with the keyboard. Once you get used to it, it's great!
Thanks! I just want to help create a community where everyone is welcome to enjoy watching and participating in MK speedrunning. We can all work together to make MK speedrunning a big thing!
Thank you! .. I am fully respectful and enjoying the competition Speed is providing to each of the categories and to the community as a whole. At the end of the day we are here to push each other and make each other better! I hope everyone enjoys seeing how to really push the limits of these great classics as well. Everyone wins!
@@DarkTenka At this moment, speed is making another live trying to beat the record, he said that he prefers to pass tips between or other spedruners than to have rivalries. I'm thinking of doing runs too, could you make a video giving tips? I want to learn as much as possible (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧
@@unbrokenm6817 I may make a video at some point, but I am too busy lately. You can join the MK Speedrunning discord though and ask questions, me or some of the other runnners may answer too. You can join the discord here: discord.gg/v7tey3U
Camelion is very hard, man what I admire the most in your videos, is that you know exactly blows that take the dummy out of trouble kill the character faster and break the cpu, that is very crazy.
Thanks! .. That is what I love about MK. The AI is "unique" .. because it tries to cheat you all the time, but also it does it very consistently. This means if you figure it out like a puzzle then it can be broken very fast. Its very fascinating to me.
I think both Speed and Parrallax are better than me. xD ... but it doesnt matter. We are all trying to improve and get better. It is all about improving yourself and pushing to your limits. It doesnt matter how good anyone else is.
I did a run once without the jump trick and made it to Kintaro, things didn't go well after that. I used Raiden in that run and Kintaro raped me endlessly. I should've used Reptile.
No. The high punch trick is something that specifically only works against Normal opponents. It requires very precise timing to keep the enemy stuck in a constant state of 1 frame hit recovery so that it never reaches the maximum number of hits to be staggered. The kintaro corner stunlock does not require any precise timing and you can simply mash the button until hes dead. The downside is that it only works in the corner because unlike HPT, he actually IS being put into a stagger, but we are using the corner to keep him pinned down. The main reason for having a no HPT category in the first place is to increase the challenge and complexity of the speedrun. Banning the corner lock on Kintaro would not do this as there is no more complex strategy to Kintaro, the next best strat would take precedence which is simply doing repeat jump kicks until hes dead. There are only a couple of characters that can do something "fancy" with Kintaro and those strategies are actually better than corner lock anyway so there is no reason to ban it. This is just the nature of how the MK bosses are designed... they are bullshit and anything goes. "I made the boss so hard that the only way to beat him was very easily" - Ed Boon probably.
It was 8:13 ** It was an amazing run. He got a crazy Kintaro fight ... but also the Shao Khan fight was very rough :O ... man this can be even lower, sub 8 is definitely possible. GG to Speed!
The corner punches on Kintaro does not count as "The High Punch Trick". Basically HPT is a specific technique that can only be done on normal opponents and involves stunlocking them with a very specific timing which prevents them from being knocked back due to being punched 4 times. That "specific timing" causes the enemy to do exactly 1 frame of an attack between each punch before being caught by the next punch. This changes the AI's state from "being hit" to "attacking", and when it changes into the attacking state it resets the "number of hits taken to stumble back to 0" allowing you to go infinite on them. The trick on Kintaro ignores timing completely and is just straight mashing, using the corner to prevent him from being knocked back out of reach. As for why its allowed? Well, pretty much there are very few ways to beat Kintaro legitimately without cheesing him anyway. With some characters having "no good option". Every character can do the corner punch trick to some extent with some variations on the execution, this puts every character on an even field in regards to Kintaro. Also .. Kintaro is bullshit anyway lol.
yes, there is not yet a "no block" category for MK2. But there could be if someone wanted to do the run.. This run is "no HPT", so the only thing that is not allowed is HPT. Everything else is allowed (including the stunlock HPT on Kintaro).
The high punch trick is a special technique which allows you to stunlock the opponent by repeatedly punching them with very precise timing. It's not as easy as it sounds, the timing is very specific as you must let the AI get in "1 frame of an attack" inbetween the punches or else they will stumble back and break out of it. If its more than 1 frame then their attack will connect. Here is an example of a "High punch trick run": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OgRnI4hQKps.html The category in this video bans the use of this technique. HPT runs are more fun and challenging than it looks, but it does remove a lot of the strategy from the game as you can clearly see.
@@neilsowden800 Absolutey! ... so far I am impressed with the trailer. Fingers crossed the final movie lives up to the hype! 🤞 And yes for Kintaro, that is a different strategy altogether and does not count as "High Punch Trick". Hence why it is allowed in this run. The HPT only refers to the technique which stunlocks the regular enemies. (Lets face it Kintaro is bullshit anyway, you should be able to use anything you can to beat him lol)
I suggest that you play against speed. He is a best player of the world. He has a Channel here, on RU-vid and he lives in brazil. It was will be a good player! Do you know that man?
Im not much of a PvP player .. maybe I will try sometime, but my passion is Speedrunning specifically. Speed is an amazing MK player and Speedrunner though.. he does a lot of great work with the classic MK's.
Parallax did great to come up with strategies for MK. But nobody "owns" strategies. Once the knowledge is out in the open its free for anyone to use. Right now Speed has the best verified time on the leaderboard for "No HPT" category. No better time has been submitted yet.
I must stress this as it is very important. *COPYING A STRATEGY IS ALLOWED*. There is nothing wrong with it. We are all here to share strategies to help each other.
This method is just RNG ... u want him to throw you once .. and hope that he "roars" .. then u can punch. Its a lot of grind to get it perfect, its like 50/50 chance.
@@youtubbeisshit I had an even better strat on my Kitana runs. I think Kitana will be even faster than Mileena but it is a harder run with more RNG. Mileena is a lot easier and more consistent with the normal fighters.
@@DarkTenka if your video name is "No high punch trick" - then it must be without it at all nvm vs who you fight. Or its - not true bro. P.S. if you want to chalange fight MK2 we can do it head to head on MAME emulator, I will beat you)
@@lordphebstream9319 "High Punch Trick" is a specific trick that works only against Normal opponents. Thats just the name of the trick. I don't do PvP.
