Mortal Kombat | The History of Sindel | Wife of Shao Kahn 

I’m bit between both versions though I say the klassic timeline in best Sindel though the Alter Sindel is great too even though her lore was changed for better or worse. As always, more MK LORE is always good and never forget the klassic line from the movie. 👍👍

I like classic sindel all the way to 9. Didn't like the retcon in opinion but if people love evil sindel more power to.you.

I thought evil Sindel was an interesting alternate version but in the future I definitely want good Sindel back.

I honestly get why you don’t like the Sindel retcon, though I will say MK9 and X Sindel actually made sense to why she became evil (and that was because she was brainwashed by two of the most powerful sorcerers in mk.), though once again still doesn’t change the fact that almost everyone hates the Sindel retcon.

Yes, she was already a power-hungry bitch in love with Shao Khan in the reboot rather than the just, loving mother she was in the Original Timeline, but Quan Chi still killed her to force Shao Khan's hand, necessitating the invasion of Earthrealm to get the Outworld Emperor out of the way, knowing that Shao Khan would be defeated once again by Earthrealm's finest warriors until Sindel was brought back & imbued with the power of fellow sorcerer Shang Tsung, because it's obvious that without Shang Tsung inhabiting her body, Sindel on her own wouldn't have been able to kill as many of Earthrealm's defenders as she did until Nightwolf's self-sacrifice destroyed both him & Sindel, turning them also into Quan Chi's undead revenant slaves.

Would've loved if they did that. But I think that was a one time deal to get some hype going for the movie. A Sub-Zero one would be great.

Aftermath just fucked all of the klassic fans up the ass by having Shao Khan tell Kitana that her mother was evil all along & Sindel admitting that she killed Jerrod for Shao Khan, because she fell in love with him after viewing her true husband Jerrod as a weakling.

Even with robotic implants, there are still nerve endings there. If there were no nerve endings, then not only would he not feel pain in his arms, but his attacks would have no effect, either.

Kurtis Strkyer is only a mortal human cop/S.W.AT operative. He doesn't have any otherworldly powers like Liu Kang (shooting fireballs, turning into a dragon, becoming Fire God, etc.), Lung Lao (his razor-sharp hat being his primary weapon of choice & he himself being the descendant/reincarnation of The Great Kung Lao [the same Kung Lao whom Fire God Liu Kang has chosen as his champion to close out his MK Aftermath ending to set up the next game's story & who originally lost to Shokan Prince Goro 500 years before the events of the first MK Tournament]), Johnny Cage & his -- and Sonya Blade's -- daughter Cassandra "Cassie" Cage (the Green Lantern-like green glow energy that allowed the father-daughter to defeat the Fallen Elder God Shinnok in both his regular & Corrupted forms, a power set that was apparently gifted to the Cage bloodline by Raiden's brother & the God of Wind, Fujin, at least according to storyline intro dialog between Fujin & Johnny Cage), or even his former partner -- and depending on the timeline, current or former Black Dragon clansman -- Kabal (whose super speed & other enhancements were implanted after his disfiguration) happen to have. The only reason he's not so easily killed is because this IS Mortal Kombat after all and even regular civilians given prominence in the MK Universe can withstand injuries that would kill a real-life average human.

It was pretty much them toying around with the established universe since the ending of MK11 resets everything anyways. There's a ton of things changed in the altered timeline.

Same one from MK9 which was the beginning of the altered timeline. In that reality everything we thought we knew about Sindel were lies fabricated by Quan Chi. Then we have classic Sindel that was totally separate.

I'm not really judging the quality of writing. Just telling the story as is. She was never bewitched in the altered version of events. Shang Tsung and Quan Chi both knew, and it was used to their advantages

that was the whole point to not judge a book by its cover cause if anyone looked at her, they would think she is evil. As a female mk fan, sindel was really big hero for me and they made her into a gold digger

It's not really a plothole though. The classic universe and altered timeline are two totally separate realities. Things just happened differently in each one.

@@GamerThumbTV Excluding original timeline Sindel where she is her true self this evil Sindel don't add up to what Quan Chi and Shao Kahn said about her in MK9 which is a plot hole regardless of the retcon MK9-11 is the same timeline.

It's not a plot hole though. MK11 explains it well, especially through character intro interactions. Her origin in that reality were all lies told by Quan Chi to Shao Kahn. And Shao Kahn believed his version of events. That's all it really boils down too. Altered Sindel never wanted to protect Earthrealm, she wasn't needed for Shao Kahn to invade, and she was murdered by Quan Chi. It was all a plot to get Shao Kahn to remove himself from the equation through his greed.

@@GamerThumbTV In MK9 Sindel is said by Quan Chi and Shao Kahn to put a ward on Earthrealm to prevent Shao Kahn from entering Earthrealm Shao Kahn have Sindel ressurected as a pawn to turn the protection she put on Earthrealm off so Shao Kahn can invade Earthrealm similar to her original counterpart this a plot hole in MK11 Sindel is strictly evil and why would she prevent Shao Kahn from invading Earthrealm if he's her lover? Why would she do a heroic task if she always been evil? The inconsistencies in MK11 makes no sense especially her being evil now Sindel being brainwash and have no memories of Quan Chi killing her make sense everything else regarding the situation does not make sense.

Right all of that backstory originated from Quan Chi. None of it was true. Shao Kahn is going with what Quan Chi explained to him. As evil sorcerers do they fabricate, and lie. As explained in the video, he was trying to manipulate Shao Kahn into invading Earthrealm to get him out of Shinnok's way. That's why at the end of MK9 Quan Chi and Shinnok say everything is going according to plan. And in Sindel's character intro in MK11 she tells Shao Kahn "Quan Chi lied to you." So there's no plot hole, it's all explained.

Well she wasn't always evil since technically it's exclusive to the altered timeline. Makes sense if it's an effect of messing with time since so many other small details were different from the original universe.

Yep, that's exactly why I didn't mind her being evil. Different timelines, different characters. If you look at the overall lore there's many classic characters with totally different histories in the altered timeline. Sindel wasn't the only one. Ermac was a straight up good guy by the time of Deception. The altered timeline never got that version.

That's why all of the kharacters therein are either killed (Havik [by Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion], Movado [by Kano], Jarek [by his own stupidity, as per usual], Shujinko [by Cassie mistaking the Deception unwitting pawn for Onaga's resurrection as old man Shang Tsung], Taven [by Shao Kahn implicitly, since it's obvious that Taven still officially killed his brother Daegon & the elemental Blaze in the climax of Armageddon, but whilst Onaga was battling another cloned copy of his traitorous advisor just as Fallen Elder God Shinnok had similarly placed a clone of himself into the fracas as well to make it appear as though he too had perished in the final battle despite being immortal, the real Shao Khan seemingly emerged from hiding right behind Taven, swiftly killing the Edenian demi-god & taking all of the power to shape reality as he saw fit for himself, but in so doing, he had directly defied The Elder Gods' guidelines for Mortal Kombat, causing them to take over Raiden in the final moment before Shao Khan could eliminate The Thunder God forever & after weakening Shao Khan enough using Raiden as a vessel, they left Raiden's broken body & consumed Shao Khan before disappearing back into the sky with him in their grasp], Daegon [by Taven], Frost [by Raiden frying her brain in Story Mode to disconnect her neural link to the revived Cyber Lin Kuei], Reiko [by Havik deceiving him to obtain Shinnok's amulet after supposed Blood God Reiko self-imploded due to the curse associated with obtaining blood magic], Skarlet [she was taught blood magic by her adopted father/wannabe husband Shao Khan, but just like Reiko before her, Skarlet would've inevitably succumbed to the ill effects of learning blood magic & would've self-imploded too, much to Mileena's all-too-brief delight following her return off the back of another distorting time merger of multi-verses in MK11], etc.) or have their powers & abilities gifted to others (ex: Cetrion being the goddess of virtue/life [opposite her brother Shinnok as the Fallen Elder God signifying death] basically has the ordered, "just & good" characterization of the 3D kharacter Asherah [right down to being subservient to a greater threat, with the only change being that Cetrion is herself an Elder God as the sister to Shinnok & daughter of the Titan Kronika, so she doesn't get trapped into the NetherRealm like Asherah does], Shao Khan purportedly having taken in some of Onaga's dragon DNA during the MK9 retelling of the Armageddon climax, Goro initially planned to be the next host for Onaga instead of Reptile in the MKX komics until the komics were rendered non-kanon [exceptions to this are when events from the komics are directly mentioned in-game through intro dialogs], Shang Tsung's Original Timeline idea to resurrect Sindel to allow Shao Khan free access to Earthrealm without requiring another MK Tournament was given to Quan Chi instead, The One Being still being separated into the realms but more than likely having its omnipotent purpose supplanted by the existence of the Titans, etc.).

Well Shao Kahn didn't agree with Quan Chi that she sacrificed herself for Earthrealm. He simply said her motives were a mystery to him, which makes sense since Quan Chi fabricated her entire death scenario. And the details of Jerod's death were simply retconned as Shao Kahn and Sindel letting Kahn get the credit, since they were the only ones that knew what really happened. None of this applies in the classic timeline at least, so it's just one of many changes in the altered timeline. Classic Sindel = hero, Altered Sindel = villain. I get why people don't like it but that's the story NRS created.

That's because that's the story Quan Chi told him after he murdered Sindel. Shao Kahn didn't actually know the truth, just the version Quan Chi staged for him to believe. Kahn has no reason to disagree with him since Quan Chi was one of his allies. But there was always a seed of distrust between them. You see that when Kahn tells him "I'm weary of sorcerers Quan Chi." And him offering to mind control Sindel was Quan Chi keeping up his charade. All Quan Chi really did was bring her back and suppress her memories of her murder. (strictly speaking about the altered timeline of course)

If she joined him willingly like this he wouldn't believe she would sacrafice herself for Earthrealm so it would suffer like Ediena had. It just doesn't work or add up. Even in her bio in 9 it said she was brainwashed by Shao Kahn. It just makes both Shao Kahn and Quan Chi look stupid.

The bio was simply the story at the time pre-MK11. Read some of the classic bios from before. They make no sense now. The story throughout MK history has always been changing as more games get made. And Shao Kahn didn't just blindly believe the story about Sindel. That's why he told Quan Chi that her motives still elude him. He had no idea why she would've done that either. With that context, it's clear the story never added up to Shao Kahn, and there was always some mistrust between him and Quan Chi, shown when he tells Quan Chi "I'm weary of sorcerers." People might not like the change in character but storywise in the new tineline it does make perfect sense.

@@SkarletShogun doesn't seem like it, it looks like Kitana, Jade and Mileena's magic cones from their weapns, all of their powers are centered around that. in mk11 kitana can even do mileena's teleport by using her sai. They can definetly learn magic tho, Tanya had pyromancy for example so Sindel's power are probably just that as you say

They already did that for katana scorpion tanya, and sub-zero. Her personality as a villan is much less cookie cutter and cliche. She was so boring when she was a good guy.

@@djinsanity3575 Bro, ill disagree with u, its different this time. Before Sindel was very much a victim of circumstances, a puppet controlled by Shao kahn, Shang Tsung or Quan Chi. Now I see her as the protagonist, self-conscious, with an active, conscious and decisive role. Edenia was not simply destroyed by a dictator, it was corrupted inside, with Sindel as the protagonist of this decay and as powerful and decisive as Shao Kahn. This shows a facet of Edenia that actually makes it an even more important empire, which was corrupted by its leader and not simply enslaved. Putting Sindel that way in this new timeline was one of the creators' best choices, and it makes the story more real, with more sense, as well as more interesting.
