Yeah, it's like the developers heard "Dark Souls doesn't tell the players anything, you have to discover it for yourself" and failed to realise that this is hyperbolic in the extreme (the game doesn't tell you _much,_ but it tells you enough to go on), so they declared "Yes, we too shall make a game that tells the player _literally absolutely nothing whatsoever_ beyond the basic combat controls tutorial!" Hell, I unlocked the parry ability when I acquired the Tarnished Seal (which is EASILY missable), and the game wouldn't even tell me what the fucking thing did or how to use it until I went and looked it up on the wiki!

@madspet9106
@madspet9106 4 года назад
It was one of his "best games of the year" in 2011, and he's pretty much only ever praised it since then. I don't think he's madly in love with it the way he is with Silent Hill 2, Painkiller, Half Life or Portal, but the shout-out here indicates that he still loves it. I guess if he were to create a tier list with games he's reviewed, those games would be on the highest tier, and Infamous 2 would probably be on the next one down. That's how I think about it, anyway. Plus, those other games are on PC already anyway. Infamous 2 is probably one of the only games he really likes that hasn't been made available on PC at this point EDIT - I forgot you brought it up while typing this, but yeah, Resistance 3 would probably also be in that second tier with Infamous 2. Probably also Far Cry 3 as well, and maybe the original Deus Ex.

Finding a build to be able to basically do infinite power moves was awesome. Actually that "possess someone and embarrass them" bit does sound like it could be a pretty good core mechanic for a game. Sort of like a social stealth assassination game. You possess somebody whose life you're trying to mess up, go about their day trying not to let on that something's amiss, and covertly figure out what you could do that would damage them the most. Then you make them go to class with no pants on or whatever, pop out of their head, and watch as they desperately try to deal with the fallout.
@extendoduck
@extendoduck 3 года назад
Ooh that'd be cool. There's even a plausible explanation for a good difficulty curve: it gets harder as you go because people realize there's some kind of possession going on so they just dismiss it if you make the person do something too out of character. You have to think more and more about plausible ways to destroy each person according to what they might actually do based on their personality. As you go on you could even have characters try and capture you somehow if they realize you're possessing someone, or try and figure out who's causing the possessions if you're too obvious asking around how to ruin someone's life.

This video reminds me of a pub regular I used to know. When I worked and lived out of a pub, he mentioned Jennifer Ann Agutter, every damn day. One day I asked him it was, he told me it was a young women who got sexually assaulted in a Austrailian film many moons ago. I asked him what his fascination was and he told me something about a school uniform. Never felt the need to look the film out, doesn't sound like fun. Thanks for the PTSD.

Pretty sure the picture of Jenny Agutter in her youth is from Logan's Run (where the hero meets her character via the futuristic version of Tinder, which delivers attractive people directly to your home by vague means.)

I think that’s why Fromsoft is keeping the general game feel but changing things up. For example adding the aggressive style of bloodborne and the stealth, parry and jumpy jumpy gameplay of sekiro. Even the original innovators are changing up the genre they invented up a bit.

Are you planning to review Tamarin? It's a 3d cute platfomer (from ex-Rare devs and inspired by Jet Force Gemini) that will release on September 10 for PS4 and PC and it definitely needs and deserves the attention and exposure. It seems to be very polished and a lot of fun and not enough people even know about it. Thanks

The soundtrack of that game is just perfect. It's one of those games were you can really feel that the developers had a lot of fun making it, coming up with weird stuff and over-the-top action. A pity it didn't sell well.

Granted, everyone hates the depths, Blighttown, the Yrithill dungeon or the Catacombs of Carthus, but you can't argue that they make the incredible zones like Anor Londo or Yrithill even greater by contrast. I mean, saying "Opening the exit door of the catacombs or Carthus" is a fire proof way to put a smile on a Dark Souls 3 player's face.
