I had a friend who was murdered by her boyfriend several years ago. She was stabbed over 100 times, and basically bled completely out! I honestly don’t know how the funeral director/embalmers did such a beautiful job on her, because at her viewing, she looked absolutely beautiful! She only had a few visible wounds on her hands.

@@MaryClareVideos Given that Arias stabbed Alexander 27 times, cut his throat and shot him in the head and then the body wasn't discovered for several days it must have been a job to make him presentable for viewing. I guess it could be better to see reality than have horrible images of what he looked like for real. I prefer not to see the dead in any state but I know it's vital [ha] for some people.

Same. Like most I fear death. But it is inevitable. Hopefully a full life is led and not cut short in some way. I think in a way learning about death in an educational and professional/respectful way is sort of cathartic. I learn a lot about law from true crime and also how to possibly avoid certain situations and warning signs of unstable people.

@@sandrabrown2132 Exactly! That's the most important point period. It doesn't matter what he did to her (as far as getting another girlfriend). She "agreed" to be his friend with benefits. So I'm not sure what she thought that entailed, but nobody held her captive in this situation, he didn't deserve to be murdered. She premeditated getting him in his most vulnerable situation (nude & in the shower) and then making her move. 😢

I've seen his autopsy photos online, as I followed her trial. If he had an open casket viewing, then that undertaker must've been an artist. And I'm not trying 2b funny either. Rest in peace Travis. I googled the autopsy photos, and I actually find it encouraging that someone with that kind of trauma and decomposition could be made presentable to the point that his family could view his remains, recognize him, and not have to suffer further psychological agony because of being confronted with visual evidence of the horrors their loved one had been subjected to. I think that recognizable viewing would bring some comfort to a crime victim's family.

Correction: Jodi was NOT his g/f. She used him for sex, stalked him, broke into his phone, iPad and computer many many times after finding his passcodes. She sent dreadful messages to all his female friends, broke into his house, slashed all 4 of his very expensive tyres twice, spied on him and recorded his telephone conversations without his knowledge. And when he dumped her after 2 - 3 months, because he said she was a nutcase, she butchered him. She almost decapitated him when she slashed his throat from one ear to the other, stabbed him 27 times and shot him in the head. She lied and lied and lied. And is still doing it. Changing her story 3 times... Ending on, "It was self defence." Travis was an Elder in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Not a Mormon... Mormon is a prophet from the Book of Mormon. They don't worship Him, they worship Christ. The clue is in the name of the church.

I will never forget being in the 4th grade and my mom coming to check me out because my brothers best friend ( they were both 13 n had the same birthday) he was murdered by his own mother. She stabbed him 30 or 40 times. Cut his throat and removed fingers.. It was heartbreaking and down right I stilll hear my big brother sobbing in the bed in my mom's arms. So many people were at the funeral. School staff. From every school he went too even our bus drivers.. the funeral home done an amazing job because family really wanted a viewing. He was dressed in a tux. And had gloves on. They laid a lace material over him and it had a card asking not to touch him. A couple years later Alex's aunt also murdered her baby and left it on church door step. She claimed she heard voices says to harm child. And then they" told her to take the baby to God's house to be heald.

I've broken up with ex boyfriends, but I sure would never have murdered them. I was angry of course which is normal, but to outright murder in cold blood I just don't understand. Thank all of you for your takes on what occurs and how you would care for the deceased individuals. I enjoy the videos, but of course not the fact that an individual passed. UNLIKE CASEY Anthony, she is getting away with murder of her little girl Caylee. All murderers deserve the death penalty but aren't always allowed 😒. In Biblical times if someone murdered someone then, they would have lost their life meaning soul for soul that was murdered and life stolen from them. Deuteromy 27:25 - Cursed is the one who bribes to kill an innocent person.

Thank you, Kari, Ryan, and Brian. The autopsy photos of Mr. Alexander showed some drying effect --- his lips had pulled away from his teeth, and his hands looked very dry, like from the inside. The mottling looked like it was widespread, from the top of his head to his feet. For family viewing after embalming/makeup, do you use a 'foundation' color to mitigate the discoloration? Do you close the wounds, and how? Good comments about his overall condition. He was a good looking man. So sad. Such a horrific killing. His poor family - just having to view for identification would have been traumatic.

There is so much in an expired body that teaches us about the living body…I had Covid last yr. & it caused a heart attack and blood clots up my left arm and left subclavian. My fingertips on my left hand and areas all up my arm turned black and I had to have my fingertips amputated. I was on a ventilator for 45days, had covid pneumonia, severe yeast overgrowth in my body, & sepsis…I’m still on 2L of oxygen, & in a lot of pain still. When you spoke of black fingers and discoloration in the hands, it reminded me of my left arm and hand. I have very big, deep scars on my left arm, but something about them being black & dead was just so darn scary to me. My lungs are forever damaged as well. I wonder if they have the same black dead tissue in them? My left side was paralyzed. I am only 48yrs old. I had to learn to talk, eat, & walk again. Drs at my local hospital worked on me for 15 min. to get my heart started, they put a chest tube in me, & told my family to pull the plug on me. My brother (bless his heart) said that was unacceptable, & had me sent to a trauma hospital about 35min. away, & against all odds, I survived. You all are so fascinating to me. I lost my 27yr old son on 12/19/21, while he was incarcerated, from a fentanyl OD, & the coroner did an autopsy on him. I wonder if he suffered?

When I worked for a FH, there was a young man whom was found murdered by shotgun at close range & his family insisted upon having an open casket after being told the extent of trauma. There was virtually nothing left of the head, so the head embalmer reconstructed the skull & what was left of the face with Plaster of Paris which took an entire day. There were no current photos of this man, so the embalmer did his best with what he had with heavy make-up, a veil with many straight pins secured to the casket's head panel to deter people from looking too close, & low lighting. The family was very pleased & a huge crowd of the curious showed up for the visitation. My hat came off to the embalmer for his valuable skills. The family praised him personally for his efforts although in my opinion he did not look like someone whom could be properly identified other than by fingerprints. Cases with extensive head trauma like this are usually closed casket.

As long as we're on the subject, I'd love to know how Benjamin Keough was prepared for open casket. I don't understand the logistics, but he died from a self-inflicted intraoral shotgun wound. The exit wound was in the chest, so does that mean the gun was pointed downward? I hope your vids get monetized so you're around for the long haul! The ones who killed my loved one used fire to try to destroy evidence, and I would like to know if it's possible to know if he suffered as he was trapped inside Tower 1, trying to find a way out when out of five exits, every damn one of them was blocked. I'd like to know if they can tell, through having his hand, if he suffered too. They didn't say. I don't think his mom wanted to know. All they ever found of him was one of his hands But they were able to tell things from that one remain that I was astounded to learn of - and I was a paramedic at the time. I went to the funeral of a young friend that had fallen overboard in Florida during a Jimmy Buffett concert. The concert goers were mostly on boats in a bay. My uncle died self harm. And open casket with a minor looking bruise, type “scratch”. I was very shocked at how minor the wound was. My husband was killed in a car wreck when I was 22 & he was 25. It broke his neck when thrown out the car window. He had a net covering the casket & we was warned if anyone touched the net, the coffin would immediately be closed. My uncle & his son was murdered at their family business. They were open casket. But from the details I gathered, they essentially had to reconstruct their faces, possibly from clay? It took over a week before their viewing. My aunt died in a house fire & that was NOT open! But I never understood why my husband had a net draped over the casket & the lighting was very dim, also matching the color of the net . Is there a huge difference in a broken neck, than a gun wound? His passing was in 97, & I’ve never been able to talk to the mortician about my husband’s viewing.

Such an interesting take on this case! I remember following this as it was going on! I’m amazed that having viewings when a person is this far gone is a real possibility! Two questions! There is something silver over his right eye like metallic eyeshadow or something! What would you speculate that to be??? In addition to the decomp and retraction of the lips and face due to dehydration, smell would have to be a huge obstacle? Does embalming fluid neutralize that smell by itself?? And how do deal with that?? If you can??
@KaritheMortician
@KaritheMortician 3 года назад
Reflection of moisture most likely Yes definitely there would have been a strong odor The smell never goes away but we can use odor absorbers and stop the decomp at the point it is at or at least delay it the best we can.

I followed this case so well & I'm 100% positive she shot him 1st & thought he would die but he didn't die do she had to stab him until he did! However due to the lies JA started saying everything from child molestation to rape & abuse! I completely understand why the prosecutor wanted to change that order a little bit to gain a conviction and eliminate the possibility any jurer would think it was self defense. However in my opinion the actual order and how I believe it went down makes JA much more awful because she had the opportunity to get help & realize what she was doing but decided to continue & brutally murder him! Years ago when this trial was happening I found an amazing animated video on this theory and it makes much more sense!
