The Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations or AFMAO is largely staffed by Airmen, but all services are represented within the walls. Two Marines are stationed in Delaware to provide care, service, and support as liaisons to families of fallen Marines. SSgt Caitlin Jones is with one young Lance Corporal who has a big responsibility to his fellow Marines.

The pain, the sadness, yet a slight sense of relief and kindness. Kindness does not signify weakness. No truer is that fact than in the mortuary services. Soldiers who go out of their way to see to it that the fallen find their way home truly are a rare and noble breed.

In this case a marine, not a soldier, but that's okay. It's offensive to call a marine a soldier. You can call them service members of the United States Armed Forces if you're referring to all veterans like this fine young marine and gentleman. I'm telling you this so you won't be screamed at or criticized by others on the internet. R.I.P to all who lost they're lives in all branches of the US military and those who can't be with us today. @Duffelbag Drag Fu^k off. Sadly, the US has turned into yet another corrupt banana republic. I made that comment two years ago (with a different screen name and icon) at a time when I still believed in my country. Now the country is run by a senile old puppet and every three letter department has been weaponized against the American people. You probably don't know that in the so-called "Infrastructure" bill that was just passed, Congress approved the funding and hiring of 87,000 more IRS agents.

Look at it this way: the job has to be done. Who better to do it than a fellow Marine? Who else would you trust with this detail? Who else would sweat the small stuff for a guy they've never met and who is now missing the left half of their head and most of their legs? These guys get the full treatment even if the parts have to be reassembled back into the uniform. They will enter the after life ready for inspection.

Is LCpl Beaty a Sgt. by now? It’s been 10 years since this was aired and I hope he’s at least a Sgt. 🫡 What an honorable young man with such conviction for this massively respectable task for his fellow brothers- and sisters-in-arms of the Few and the Proud. Best of luck, if he’s still serving; and even if he’s already out living the civilian life. I wish you all the best and nothing less, sir. 👏👏👏💪💪💪

Back in the 90's I was the senior member of a burial detail for a retired MSgt. He served from 1950 to 1970. When we arrived at the funeral home prior to the service. I alerted the funeral home staff the MSgt's EGAs were incorrect and the anchors must be pointed inboard. "Is it that important to disturb the body in order to make the change"? I said I'm sure the MSgt would not want to be viewed in his uniform while it was incorrect. We were asked to leave the area while they made the correction. When the service started the MSgt was squared away.

I served in my country’s military here in Mexico as an infantryman. I wish I had become a Marine instead. It brings tears to my eyes to see how much you care for each other... while here in my country the same institution you serve is vigilant to find a way to f*ck you over with a discharge. It’s full of extortion and corruption. I’m proud of you Marines, a true role model for any military

I can understand where this young Devil Dog is coming from. During Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm I was in the Individual Ready Reserve having coming off active Reserve duty in 1988. I placed a number of phone calls to get back with my old unit or anywhere I could do my part. On the 16th of January 1991 I got a phone call ordering me back to active duty, told I had 24 hours to report to my duty station. That duty station was the Central Joint Mortuary Affairs Office, Personal Effects Depot on Fort Dix, NJ. Our patent command was the Port Mortuary at Dover Air Force Base. We handled the personal effects of all casualties from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq. My job was to inventory, clean and prepare for return all effects from each branch of the military serving in the gulf. I had been a trick mechanic while I was in, but like the LCpl I learned quickly and did my job so the families had their loved ones things back in a timely fashion.

No disrespect, but maybe you should enjoy the present. If your father is still alive and into his 70s then enjoy your time with him, he's not going anywhere yet, unless he is sick. His mortuary attire should be the least of your worries now. Enjoy the present, enjoy your father's company.

Will never understand over 100 thumbs down to giving a dead person respect. It saddens me that there are people who do it. If they have issues I'm fine with that but disrespecting the dead is another matter.
